Hey, my name is John! I own and operate Spectrum Home Service, based out of Kingsville Ontario. I have been at it since 2017 and through the years have done small additions, full bathroom renos, tiling and some masonry. I install a lot of trim and baseboard and flooring. I do a lot of kitchen backsplash as well. I have done quite a range of work but I have been pushing to do more specialized projects such as Composite decking with Aluminum Rail. Another area I am focusing on is the installation of accent walls with tile, shiplap or wood..whatever you need. I have a strong appreciation for precision, efficiency, and problem-solving, so when we decided to renovate our home, I knew I wanted a company that shared those values. Reno Rabbit exceeded every expectation. Their attention to detail and clear, proactive communication made what could have been a stressful process remarkably seamless. Working with Mustafa and Yekaterina was a standout experience. They werent just executing a projectthey were invested in understanding our needs and making sure no detail was overlooked. We wanted to maximize every inch of our kitchen and eliminate dead space, and they delivered a custom wood kitchen with PET doors that is not only stunning but also hyper-functional. Every corner is utilized with ingenious storage solutions and innovative gadgets that make day-to-day life easier. Its clear they thought through every aspect of the design with precision and care. The flooring installation throughout our main level is equally impressive. The large-format tiles look flawless, and the use of Schluter Ditra for the underlayment showed their commitment to doing things the right way, not just the easiest way. To ensure the job was done to perfection, they also used Schluters KERDI-BAND to seal the entire parimeter of the main level, which is something I hadnt even realized was an option. On top of that, they went the extra mile by sealing all the tiles and grout after installation to preserve their beautiful, brand-new look. Its a detail I didnt know existed, but Im so glad they thought of it. Reno Rabbit doesnt just complete renovations; they engineer solutions. The entire experiencefrom planning to executionwas handled with expertise, professionalism, and a level of thoughtfulness that sets them apart. I contracted Sunil at Woodline to build a custom home. My experience with Woodline Framing Company was highly unprofessional and frustrating. From the start, Sunil, the contractor, failed to fulfill basic responsibilities. Despite receiving clear instructions multiple times, he printed the WRONG set of construction plans, I had to drop off the correct set despite him having them in his possession, he missed key materials, including a large post and placed expensive orders for incorrectly sized beams, which led to significant delays and additional costs. He assured me that everything was accurate and even copied me on an email to the welder/steel supplier confirming the order, only for me to discover major errors that further stalled the project. Without prior notice or approval, Sunil subcontracted the entire job without disclosing this arrangement upfront. This unexpected subcontracting left me at risk, especially as it became evident that the subcontractors had not been paid. Sunil's approach to managing this project was not only careless but also financially reckless, as he failed to properly manage payments and overcharged me for work that was never completed. Additionally, I communicated to him that I was not to be used as his bank to pay his subcontractors as our agreement had clear milestones. I paid Sunil $23,000 plus taxes, and yet only one-third of the milestone was completed - I agreed, out of good-faith on my part (to pre-pay a milestone that wasn't completed believing he would pay his subcontractors and what he owed them). His lack of accountability and professionalism throughout the project has left me with escalating expenses and significant delays. We both agreed to terminate the contract and that I would work directly with the subcontractors that were doing the work instead. We both agreed to this - only to have him hire a law firm demanding that I pay him the full amount of the contract! What's laughable is that he wouldn't even be entitled to the full amount of the contract given he was subcontracting the whole project and had already been overpaid based on my contract with him - I'm entitled to a refund. Sunil did not know or understand basic framing fundamentals like screwing down posts on a wooden LVL beam. I told Sunil I had spoken to other framers and a builder and you never do that as there's nothing (no thread) to attach the post to the wooden LVL below. Regardless, his solution, was "I do it all the time" - which is a scary thought. Rather than admit he forgot a steel beam, he insisted that I ask my engineer to approve a wooden LVL. This is a nearly 7000 sq ft modern home and he would rather cut corners rather than replace the steel beam which I had to push him to do and fix (his subcontractors were able to swap that out and fix it). My only saving grace was that he agreed to terminate the contract and be out of the picture completely before it cost me more money. Our project involved stripping our 2-room attic space down to the studs to build a dormer extension with a bathroom, and redo a bedroom, optimizing every inch of space. In executing the work, Nathanael and his team took the time to reinforce studs, beams and joists, taking the time and effort to attend to the subfloor to prevent creaky floors. From structural work, to HVAC/insulation, to the last finishes, no short cuts were ever taken - we truly felt Nathanael and his team cared about the project as though it was their own house. We quickly came to trust Nathanael's judgment and suggestions. No challenge was seen as a problem. With no knowledge or experience whatsoever we decided to demolish and rebuild our house. Being completely clueless meant we had to ask dozens of very basic questions at every stage of the process. It also meant that once committed, we had no choice but to have faith in John and Renocorp. 2 years later and I can say without reservation that every single time we gave John the benefit of the doubt, it worked out in our favour. Every. Single. Time. This project started in the immediate aftermath of COVID. There were initial shortages of everything, including labour. Problems with suppliers, drama with subcontractors, complications with existing infrastructure? We were insulated from ALL of it. The only problems our job encountered were relayed to us as humorous anecdotes from inside our perfectly finished house. Wed hire John again, wouldnt bother with a second estimate, and if he were too busy? Wed put the project on hold and wait for him.Latest review:
