I bought a newly-renovated house only to find that the HVAC system didn't cool the top floor or half of the main floor. There was also only 1 functional return duct in the entire house, which was tiny. While gathering quotes, Brad came in and offered a thoughtful and cost-effective plan for solving the problem. Over 2 days his crew selectively opened up the basement to solve the problem. They were able to get airflow to the first and second floors and add return ducts with minimal mess. They removed redundant ductwork which made my basement bedroom larger. Months later, the house was cold and the furnace was running 24/7 nonstop. Brad's tech return and thoroughly cleaned and adjusted the settings on the furnace. He worked with a camera crew I booked to inspect all the ducts and recommend repairs. He even purchased equipment that told us the ceiling and walls were under-insulated. I'm happy to say we're on a path to a warm home now thanks to Brad. Where others were trying to upsell me to replace my furnace, AC unit and tear open all the walls, Brad took the surgical approach and repaired the system. His attitude was always to solve the problem, not try to maximize how much I would spend. I'll never hire anyone else for HVAC work in Hamilton!Latest review: - A. Alex did a good job at the design (which was not to scale) and all the other contractors were booked so we decided to proceed with Kasty as he was the only one available and we could use the space for the tail end of the 2020 summer. Despite hearing some warning from others that a 27 year old who claims to have lots of experience and an engineering background would be an issue, we proceed with the project. Things started great and was pleased with the team and work however about halfway through the project we noticed things were being rushed and issues were starting to appear. Typical responses like “we stand behind our work” and “everything is covered under warranty” etc. is what we heard. As we approached the end of the project Alex provided the “Final Invoice” and to let him know if we had any questions. We had done a walkthrough of the front and back and made notes of the parts of the job we were not happy with and some areas where we were over charged. Alex was not happy with the list and became very defensive however after lots of back and forth agreed to a take it or leave it offer from Alex in which we agreed to reduce the final price by $2,235 (~1.8% of the total cost). We took the take it or leave it offer and made the payment in full and ensured Alex signed the final invoice confirming it was paid in full and we moved on. Shortly after this is where things changed... There was a rebate promotion with the stone manufacturer which we were trying to claim however the stone manufacturer responded that we did not qualify as our project was not paid in full. After reaching out to Alex we were told “Not going to go over and above for someone who did this to me” and that “He didn’t agree because he was happy about the conversation” and “Like I said you have a 3 year warranty regardless of how I feel. I put the needs of my work before mine”. 2 month later the cedar trees that Alex planted died. I was told there was a warranty with the nursery and if I got the irrigation system that warranty would be extended (which I did). However, Alex has ignored our requests and those dead cedars have not been replaced. After the winter we noticed lots of cracks, chips and crumbling stone and reached out to the stone manufacturer (as we had a lifetime warranty on the stone). However, received the same response that the contractor (Alex) indicated the project was not paid in full. So finally I escalated the issue to the President of the stone manufacturer and requested an investigation, after providing copies of the emails from Alex and the signed invoice confirming it was paid in full they honored the warranty and also provided me with the rebate that was previously declined. They mentioned they take these matters very seriously and provided a list of approved contractors who would repair the manufacturing defects and the stones that have cracked due to poor workmanship (which is normally not covered). Alex did come by after to see the cracks as he was even surprised how bad the issue was awhen he saw the pics but after some back and forth regarding the quality of the job was told “You can use the money you shorted me to hire someone to fix the work. You wouldn’t want someone who had bad workmanship to fix your yard yea? No one believes a single bad review saying I didn’t honor a warranty, especially when you didn’t pay your bill in full. And I will make sure everyone knows that” which he did in his responses. So I will somewhat agree with his response on the Google Review as we did not pay the “Final Invoice” as we agreed on a “Revised Final Invoice” which was paid in full and signed by Alex. Also, Alex mentioned they did everything they could to keep us happy, so I have uploaded some pictures of what things look like after he tried everything to make us happy (imagine what it looked like before). My expectations for workmanship and quality was much higher for a $130k job. DO NOT HIRE. Agreed to work we needed done: pull up all weeds, spread seed on sparse areas, clean & expand garden, put down weed killing mesh, cover with mulch. Kept mentioning a sick family member & I asked if this would be an issue. He guaranteed no as it was a “one day job”. That was over 3 weeks ago. Didn’t pull a single weed. Said he’d come back, spread weed killer and pull what was left. Never came back. Took all my money. Called him. Texted 2 more times. Said he’d be back this week. I see him posting about other work but he hasn’t been back. No weeds pulled. The grass seed he spread sprouted clover and nothing else (which when I took pictures and sent to him he said he’d talk to me about it when he came back). The garden hasn’t been cleared properly (said he needed proper tools), the paper he put down already has weeds growing through it. No mulch. He even left all the rubbish lying around. Like literally left mid job and never came back. Stay away. Hire a professional.

Paul did a complete renovation of our old-style condo from floor to ceiling including 2 bathrooms, kitchen, laying new flooring, skim coating of popcorn ceiling etc. He is very much familiar with IKEA kitchens. He can rebuilt the existing IKEA cabinet as he did for us to install the built-in exhaust. He can install all build-in appliances, fridge included. Our renovation was so called "contractor nightmare". Most of the contractors will not be able to handle it. The renovation included the installation of flush concealed doors, flush baseboards, wall mural, slate-lite panels and etc. etc. Paul took a challenge and went through as a savvy. His suggestions are useful and problem-solving. He handles jobs skilfully and cleverly. He has an eye for details and kind of finesse in his job. All veins on the tiles are matched perfectly, transition between different types of floors impeccable, ceiling look like new after skim coating. He is a top class professional contractor. He understood the engineering ramifications of removing a load-bearing wall and put us at ease. While our previous contractor effectively told us to "stay out of his lane", Rob consulted us and communicated with us every step of the way.
