I hired him to do my back deck with a partial pool surround. Because of the cost i was not expecting anything fancy; much of it was done well and a quick look at the deck it looks good but there are some major issues: 1. One set of stairs has to be rebuilt as two of the stair risers are significantly different heights than the rest-the second stair is 5.5” high while the others are 7” which leaves the bottom step to the ground about 9”. 2. An approx 1’x15’ extension was built off the back of the deck for where the back stairs were to be built onto. After he completed this set of stairs they were about 1’ short on one side and 6” at the other end instead of the span of the original 15’ extension so it looked weird. I got an extra patio stone and 6 more stair stringers and rebuilt this set of stairs myself. There were a lot of other smaller structural and cosmetic issues that I will be fixing myself. He gave us a small discount on price so I could buy materials to rebuild both stairs.
