We were given Mike's name to have an inspection done on a home that we were considering purchasing. We needed some to come as soon as possible. Mike was able to accommodate us. His inspection was thorough and helpful. He gave us confidence with going ahead and purchasing the home and letting us know the items that were important to fix right away and the ones to fix over time. Great North concrete worked with us to bring our dream patio to fruition. They asked what colour and design we wanted, and was sure to come out to do a measure up. They gave us clear explanations on what the strengths and weaknesses were for the design and location of the patio. They brought in machinery to properly prepare the land. They laid gravel and packed everything judiciously. The forming was done with care to make sure everything would be secure for the pour. When the concrete truck showed up they worked hard and moved fast to get the mix where it needed to go. I was doing a fence at the same time as the patio, so we used the post holes to get rid of the extra mix. The boys had everything prepped properly at this point to be able to level off, apply colour, and stamp the concrete efficiently. After some time, they came back to spray the colour powder off for the reveal, and WOW I couldnt believe how sexy that concrete looked! Nick dropped by at another date to get some relief cuts in. The cuts were nice and straight. We had some bad weather after that, so we had to wait a few weeks, but Nick dropped by again to spray the sealer. The sealer gave it a nice glazed/glossy look. They also poured a pad as a foundation for a shed. This was done with a smooth edge and a broom finish. My son enjoyed watering the pad for the next week to help it cure and watch it turn white. Would highly recommend Great North Concrete, they did an excellent job. Its been roughly 1 year since they completed the job and everything is holding up very well so far.

My first interaction with Andre was very positive, he seemed very knowledgeable and asked questions about the age and history of the home. He also said he only did one project at a time, and didn't start the next one until the previous was complete to our satisfaction. This feeling did not last very long once we had paid the deposit for the renovation. The original scheduled start date was in November. In October we received an email that it was delayed until February. Actual work didn't start until mid March. We agreed at the start of the project that if he needed to stay late if he was going to waste material (like grout or cement). What happened instead was he showed up most days between 10am-1pm and stayed 6-10 hours. Halfway through the project I clarified that I only wanted him in the house between 9-6 and the extra leeway was only for special circumstances. He came on time one day and returned to arriving between 10-1 after that. When demolition started, we was surprised that the walls of the 1930's home were not drywall, and had not heard of rocklathe that the walls were actually made of. He was also surprised the tub was made of cast iron. Both of which he charged more for above the quote price and added 1 week on the 2 week project. Once the bathroom was almost done, I had messaged him to confirm I was able to use the tub which he had tested. Once it drained, I noticed the ceiling below the tub was leaking, the original pipe was held together with epoxy and had come loose from the renovation. Another added cost, and I had to replace my own ceiling, he wanted to charge more and he was behind on the next job. He also moved the bathroom light switch to inside the bathroom, which was also not tested (it turned off all lights upstairs). The light switch move was a line item in the quote and paid for, but when I told him about it he would not entertain fixing the issue. In the end I will need to change this myself, even through I have paid for it and is a line item on the "add-on" quote. Other short nitpicks: - He did not install a shower curtain rod (not specifically called out in the job, but I had assumed that would be included) - Tiles not all flush with the wall, some sticking out - Did not get the tub we wanted, apparently it was out of stock on back order (we paid him the deposit 1 year before the work started) - Shower head was not installed well, o-ring was crushed and was leaking. Luckily I was going to replace with a different head so it was an easy fix The frustrating part is the bathroom itself is well done. If the Andrei and Jessica had just given an accurate quote from the beginning and did the work they said they would it would be a 9-10 star review. They are both very personable and very good hard working people. In the end, I would have been better off with a different company who quoted higher but had explicitly called out the complexity of working on an older home and likely wouldn't have had the surprise cost.

They did a decent job of stamped and aggregate concrete for my lawn and backyard. But disappointed with their after work customer service and response. Few cracks showed up, but did nothing about it. Few spots with broken coating, but did nothing about it. When they layer gravel on the sides of the concrete, did not do a proper layering of the black material before putting the gravel, within a year grass started to grow. Wanted to get a proper drain because backyard neighbour raised issue, but did nothing about it. Basically they dont respond to you once they are completed, paid off and gone. This company did an excellent job replacing the railings on my backyard deck. Gabriel was prompt with his responses. He showed up the same day and brought samples of the available designs to choose from, while other companies were only sending pictures and asking questions online. There was water coming into our basement in a particular spot which Slaw agreed to fix for the above price. It is about 5-6 feet in length and was worked on 11 July 2022. Now, there is absolutely no change in the amount of water that kept on coming in through the exact the same location. There is a 20 year warranty on this job and we hope to have Slaw contact us or be receptive to our request when we call him about this in due course. We are only waiting for the weather to warm up a bit. I had the pleasure of working directly with Sukh from Luxia Kitchens in designing and executing my kitchen. From the first initial visit to delivering the final product, my experience with Luxia Kitchens has been pleasant. I sent Sukh a few inspo pics of what i wanted my kitchen to look like, and he delivered EXACTLY what i had asked for. His attention to detail is amazing - he took the time to meet several times in person (site visits, the Luxia office and online) to ensure the design is functional and meets my expectations. He even went with me to help pick out my countertop and backsplash which was super helpful. Not only was it pleasant to work with Sukh, but his whole team was amazing. Vanshika was great - she provided me with accurate updates on my kitchen. The team that installed the kitchen were fantastic, they were always on time, professional and went above and beyond. The kitchen itself is gorgeous, functional and the is great quality - I will definitely be working with Luxia again in the near future on my l and will highly recommend.
