Zac from of Zackg.painting was recommended to me by a family friend that I know has very high standards of workmanship. Even though I have never hired a Painter before in my 66 years, based on the solid recommendation, I decided to take a chance and call Zac about the painting job on my daughters “fixer upper”. We were on a very tight schedule and budget as the house was almost a complete gut, with us doing most of the work while a two month move in deadline loomed. A working bathroom with a 4 month old baby usually takes priority over paint. At the time hiring a painter really did feel like a luxury! Having said that I cannot recommend Zac highly enough! He is busy, but he never rearranged when a “better job appeared”, he showed up when he said he was going to, he answered my emails, and he worked with me as my budget and the scope of the work changed. Indicative of his character was respectful way that he treated his painting “crew”, the property and indeed everyone on the job site He did beautiful work and I am fussy. It seems to me that Zac genuinely cares about the quality of his work and his customers. Unfortunately, this seems to be a rare quality in this day and age. I have always kind of liked painting, and really it was only because we were on such a a short timeline that we decided to hire a painter. If I am perfectly honest with myself, my painting never looked like Zac’s. I know it sounds crazy, but when he was finished painting a wall, it had a “velvet like “ texture that I have never been able to accomplish, or indeed never know was possible. As previously stated, I cannot recommend him highly enough! Once I saw him work, I felt an immediate sense of relief. You cannot trust their estimate. I contracted them to build a second floor addition, and after supplying them with detailed CAD drawings, architectural plans of the existing house, and all the information they needed to provide the most accurate and realistic estimate possible, they later increased some of the biggest costs to MORE THAN DOUBLE what they had estimated. One could accept increases of up to 10% or 15%, but not over 100% when there are no changes or unforeseen circumstances to account for them! They claim that they work with you and keep you on budget every step of the way. That is not true. The designer had not even looked at the estimate to begin with, and during the design process, I was not able to get any pricing until the design was finished. And then they put obstacles and threatened additional design costs when I wanted to go back to make the necessary revisions to reduce a large cost increase. That was the first of three instances in which they doubled costs for no other reason than having made a mistake or omission in their initial estimation. This is by no means the honest, customer-focused company they profess to be. They do provide a more itemized estimate than other builders, which is why I chose them. But when they increase costs by so much for no valid reason, the estimate means nothing. In short, after two years spent correcting the designers constant mistakes (which also delayed permits), waiting for updated costs and information, and disputing unfair cost increases, I had to give up the addition before construction had even begun. Besides the disappointment and aggravation, I have also lost a non-refundable deposit of over $20,000 plus the cost of all the permits.

Felix and his team at Baukultur were wonderful to work with. He asked what we were hoping for in our 3rd story addition and he created plans that worked perfectly for us and our family. We had Felix create plans and drawings for our 3rd story addition that includes 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. Felixs attention to detail was superb. We hired Allan and company to drywall our entire basement following underpinning. His work included sourcing the materials, installing, taping, and mudding. We were so happy with Allan and his team that we hired him for the priming and painting immediately after the drywall. Allan's work was top notch throughout and done on schedule. We had our own GC working on the job and they coordinated perfectly throughout. Allan's communication throughout the project was excellent. He kept us well informed of what was going on and when we could expect people to be in our house. When we had questions or concerns, he was quick to answer them. We have an infant and a toddler at home so noise and dust were major concerns for us. Allan and his team were very accommodating. The work was quiet and the dust was kept to a minimum. We were very impressed with Allan's work and would not hesitate to recommend him.

I hired The.R.Services to repair drywall and correct a previous painter’s poor choice of tools, which left my ceiling with a textured finish. I requested a smooth, uniform, no-texture surface and was contracted for a Level 5 drywall finish — the highest standard in the industry. The results are not Level 5. The ceilings show waves, patchy areas, missed paint spots, and incomplete sanding, which are all visible under natural daylight. When I raised concerns, Daniel, the GC, said it was “too late” after only a few months. This work should last for years if done correctly. I then asked about a warranty — none was provided. They refuse to stand behind their work, which any professional contractor who takes pride in their craft should. Independent contractors have confirmed these are workmanship defects. Although the crew put in effort, the results fall far short of consistent, high-quality work.

Serge was on time, extremely professional and communicative. We had the siding replaced on our home with vinyl shakes as well as eaves replaced. Now three months later and we are still extremely happy with his work and attention to detail. He was very communicative and prepared. He cleaned up from the job each day, leaving the site immaculate. He also did some extra bits of work for free for us. He noticed a raccoon had ripped off some shingles in a corner, which he told us about and repaired at no extra cost. I fully recommend Serge for exterior home work.
