Another excellent job by Mike, Michael and crew. They did a partial basement remodel including framing, drywall, electrical, priming of walls and flooring installation of our basement (approximately 1250 sq ft). They also did attic work with installing bathroom vents to the soffit, bathroom fan to our master bathroom and boxing electrical junctions to prepare for blown insulation. They also helped place a support beam for our upstairs balcony to increase safety of the structure. They did a lot of work across our whole home in a timely and professional manner. Mike was able to work with me to coordinate when the insulation crews were going to come in (we had spray foam in the basement and blown in for the attic) and not waste any time between transitions. We've worked with them before and everyone was courteous, respectful of our busy house and kept everything clean after the day was done. It was a great experience working with Krys. We finished our basement to include a full bathroom, office/gym and family room. We had a very strict timeline and the project was completed by our deadline and, importantly, on budget. The various trades people that worked on the basement were professional and they tidied up after themselves. Krys accommodated several last minutes changes to the plans that we wanted and he quickly addressed the few minor issues along the way. Unlike a lot of contractors that want full payment up front, it was a progress-payment schedule that gave us a lot of comfort knowing the project would be completed. Communication was great with Krys and Paulina. I hired PIVOS CONTRACTING, Campbellville, ON in September 2021 to repair damages that had resulted from a flooding in the upper level of my 2-floor condo. My hardwood floors had to be replaced , the ceiling of the lower level had large holes that had to be repaired, and the lower level had to be painted. They quoted me $40,115 + an extra $1,500 for general help guys to move around some of my furniture, as I had moved most of it to a storage facility. His quote didn't include the price of the new hardwood floors, which I have bought by myself. It didn't include painting of any doors in the condo either, as they did not require painting. I PAID ALL WHAT I WAS ASKED FOR, WITHOUT ANY NEGOTIATION, DOWN TO THE LAST PENNY, AND IN A TIMELY MANNER (50% BEFORE THE WORK BEAGAN , 50% RIGHT AFTER IT'S BEEN FINISHED). WHAT I GOT IN RETURN WAS : JACK-OF-ALL-TRADES WORKERS who did everything from floor installation, to dry wall work, to painting, etc. Needless to say, the quality of work was nowhere near what would be expected from a professional hardwood floor installer or a professional dry wall worker or painter. Their work did not meet even the minimum standards, and the final result was: 1. ALL MY NEW HARDWOOD FLOORS (WHICH COSTED ME NEARLY $15,000) WERE SMUDGED WITH THE TOUGH GLUE USED IN THE INSTALLATION. I am not talking about a few spots here and there or even a few dozen spots, but about nearly every square foot of my floors being covered in glue + dust on top of it !!!!! In fact, even the bathroom's ceramic tiles had their share of the damn glue too !!! Repeated attempts by myself and by professional house cleaners failed to remove that stubborn glue off my new floors to any degree. Eventually, I got the brand of the product and called its manufacturer, and asked if they had any solutions. They advised me that the excess glue should have been wiped off the floors instantly at the time of installation, otherwise I should simply forget it !!!!! 2. THE CEILING LOOKED VERY CROOKED, BUMPY, WITH HIGHS AND LOWS ALLOVER RATHER THAN THE PLAIN FLAT SURFACE IT SHOULD BE, as this contractor was too cheap to replace the damaged dry wall panels but rather tried to patch them, and told me that my ceiling will look perfectly fine as such. The actual result was that it looked anything but fine !!! In fact, looking at the garage's ceiling repair that was done by a different contractor, it looked far better than my condo's ceiling !!!! 3. AS FOR THE WALL PAINTING, that was done very carelessly too. I could have done a better job myself !!!! The photos below show the kind of work that has been done in my condo. Upon raising these concerns with the contractor, he was evasive , manipulative, and anything but decent or honest enough to take responsibility for the work his Jack-of-all-trade guys have done. Regarding the glue residue that was left allover my floors, he went thru every possible way to evade responsibility, from pretending he couldn't see it , to acknowledging the problem but claiming it wasn't glue in the first place (!!!!!), to saying that he will send workers to clean it (as a favor) but needs "some space", to asking me to remove all my furniture from the condo again at my expense (costs nearly $5000) so he can do the cleaning etc. etc. of this kind of manipulation. ONE YEAR LATER, he hadn't done anything to at least clean the floors, and that's when I advised him that I will have to hire someone else to do the job that he never finished but he will have to cover the cost. It took me several months to find someone who agreed to take this difficult challenge. The new professional gave me a quote for the job, which I advised this contractor of, but he didn't even bother reply. THE NEW PROFESSIONAL HAD TO CLEAN MY FLOORS MANUALLY, ONE PLANK AT A TIME, WHILE KNEELING ON HIS KNEES, AND INSPECTING FROM DIFFERENT ANGLES. This took him FIVE visits to my home, on two of which he was accompanied by an assistant. When the cleaning job was finally done, approximately 15 months later, he called PIVOS and explained the kind of work that had to be done and the time it took to clean the mess they had left me with. Nevertheless, PIVOS CONTRACTING refused to cover but 50% of the cost of cleaning , and even paid that after weeks of delay !!!!! Looking back at my experience with PIVOS Contracting as a whole, it can be summarized in the following: 1. Sloppy, unprofessional work that could be outdone by amateurs or even hobby workers. 2. Hefty unreasonable prices. This is based on the estimates of honest contractors who assessed my condo; unfortunately they were unavailable to do the work at the time frame it had to be done. 3. Countless hours of my time wasted thanks to manipulation, and silly arguments that did not lead anywhere. 4. Over one full year in delays trying to find a professional who agreed to clean up the epic mess PIVOS Contracting had left me with. During this time my home looked like a zoo or a war zone. This resulted in complete disruption of my life, which took a heavy toll on me, both physically and mentally. 5. I had to pay extra money, on top of the hefty cost I have already paid, to fix their sloppy careless work . Our project involved stripping our 2-room attic space down to the studs to build a dormer extension with a bathroom, and redo a bedroom, optimizing every inch of space. In executing the work, Nathanael and his team took the time to reinforce studs, beams and joists, taking the time and effort to attend to the subfloor to prevent creaky floors. From structural work, to HVAC/insulation, to the last finishes, no short cuts were ever taken - we truly felt Nathanael and his team cared about the project as though it was their own house. We were looking for a provider to make and install oak treads on our stairs. Jose from VDR worked with us to fully understand our needs. During our visit I mentioned that we were replacing about 900 sq ft of carpeted floors on our second level with hardwood and he mentioned that VDR also did hardwood floor installation. We hired VDR for both jobs. Their pricing was fair and competitive and and we were provided with a detailed statement work. Hardwood installation was completed in 2 days and completed about a week after agreeing to work with VDR. The stairs included new oak treads and risers. In total, the work took 4 days - the first day to remove the carpet, tackboard and staples and to measure the existing treads (the treads are not all the same size and some are angled) and then 3 days to install the new treads once they'd been manufactured and stained. We are very happy with the end result.

Wow! What a great team. Daniel and Elijah and the team who worked on our basement were amazing. A great experience which went smoothly. With no knowledge or experience whatsoever we decided to demolish and rebuild our house. Being completely clueless meant we had to ask dozens of very basic questions at every stage of the process. It also meant that once committed, we had no choice but to have faith in John and Renocorp. 2 years later and I can say without reservation that every single time we gave John the benefit of the doubt, it worked out in our favour. Every. Single. Time. This project started in the immediate aftermath of COVID. There were initial shortages of everything, including labour. Problems with suppliers, drama with subcontractors, complications with existing infrastructure? We were insulated from ALL of it. The only problems our job encountered were relayed to us as humorous anecdotes from inside our perfectly finished house. Wed hire John again, wouldnt bother with a second estimate, and if he were too busy? Wed put the project on hold and wait for him.Latest review:
