Initial contact with Eric was good - he understood it was a small job that we had a budget and would work within it. Due to the very wet spring had to delay the start a couple of times - can't be helped. Charles got his men on-site and the bulk of job has been completed quickly. This was our third time using Renovation Experts and we could not be happier with the result. We fully renovated our kitchen and ensuite bathroom, made updates to two bathrooms and refinished our staircase. Stans ability to estimate, communicate progress and leverage his relationships with the best people in each trade resulted in a high quality job with no surprises. I particularly like that the estimate included some assumptions on the cost of key items like tile or cabinetry. This helped to inform our choices and ensure we were aware if we were making selections outside of the budget. We found the work of our day to day on-site supervisor Sam to be detailed and the outcome beyond our expectations. Our electrician Steve and plumber Dom were professional and delivered great work, while making the journey more pleasant. We would not hesitate to use Renovation Experts again or make a referral. We initially engaged Monaco looking for a designer for a major reno but decided to hire them for the whole job (design/architecture + construction) because Revi appeared knowledgeable, and it seemed like a good idea to hire one team to do it all. It started off well but was ultimately an incredibly frustrating experience. It has now been a year since completion, so weve had a chance to live in our new home and reflect. The construction began on schedule. Nine days after they began, demolition was completed, the support beam was in place, the new walls were framed out, the utilities were run, and all the initial permits were closed. At that point, we were very optimistic. The core construction team, led by Steven, was competent. As a result, a year later, there have been no structural issues. The problems started to mount when we got to the finishings. There were two major sources of problems mediocre sub-contractors, and Revis disinterest in our project and argue now, fix later attitude. It became clear that Revi had delegated our job to her assistant (without informing us prior to signing the contract) and did not feel a sense of ownership of our job. There were several large mistakes made throughout construction incorrect kitchen cabinetry, backsplash tiles, interior doors, hardware, mismatched stain on the stairs and landings, amongst others. While we were sold on a process that focused on quality assurance, we found ourselves doing the job for them, and the most frustrating part was that each time we found a mistake, there would always be an argument before it was fixed. The mismatched stairs incident is the best example of this. We pointed out from the day it was done that there was a problem with the colour to anyone who would listen. Instead of coming and seeing it with her own eyes, Revi argued with us for two weeks by email, citing the contract that said the stairs/landing may not be a perfect match to the flooring, questioning whom we informed (it was everyone), claiming that it couldnt be fixed Until she saw it with her own eyes and immediately recanted. So much stress could have been saved if she had just taken ownership of our job. It felt like she did not get to know us to the extent necessary to do a good job. For example, she had our house painted in a beautiful high end matte paint that looks great and wears terribly. This would have been a good choice for a larger home or one without children, but in our small and spirited house, it looks dirty and needs repainting a year later. Then there were the problems with sub-contractors. I had a month of stress because the electrician, to get out of 30 minutes of work, claimed that our ceiling fans could not be wired the way they had been safely wired for years prior, and Revi argued back and forth, telling us her contractor wouldnt do it because it could cause a fire .. until we got another licensed electrician to write a statement saying she was wrong. Similarly, before paying Revi an additional amount to have her painter fix water staining around our skylights, we paid her roofer to inspect to ensure there was no active leakage. He inspected three times during the reno (once for a separate issue) and found none of the glaring issues which caused leaking within months, damaging our newly finished ceilings. Since the construction ended last summer, we have reached out with several issues and most have been dealt with. However, we were not able to solve the problems caused by the aforementioned leaking due to repeated incompetence by their roofing contractor. In trying to get her to remedy this, she once again cited the contract without understanding the situation, and then finally offered to fix it, but in her offer included an insane ChatGPT generated agreement that sounds like a fake lawyer wrote it, that says she will fix it if we promise not to reflect upon our experience publicly. In a time of dire needs, Memo Cabinetry Inc. really helped me out. Great communication from the start, was professional throughout the whole process and was very informative. Memo Cabinetry Inc. was really efficient as the jobs were completed in a short time frame. They were really respectful of my place as they cleaned up after the painting, drywall and installation of the closet organizer was done. They were patient as we came up with a few designs and implemented the one we wanted. Also, the price was reasonable and didn't upsell me in anyway. I am extremely happy with my new closet. After hearing a lot of horror stories about contractors who take advantage of their clients, we were skeptical about hiring any contractor to get our kitchen renovated. My brother-in-law suggested we give Josh from Level Custom Build a call, as he knew them well. It turned out to be the best decision we made. We werent sure about what we wanted; we only knew we wanted a modern functional kitchen. On our first visit with Josh, he took the time to explain all the details to us. He set our expectations for what they were able to do and what was possible. He addressed all our questions and concerns. Here is a team that is extremely skilled, very punctual, clean, pays attention to details, very patient to our numerous changes, provides excellent quality of work, respects our home and took measures to make sure not to damage anything. They take pride in what they do and not just treat you like a number. I was extremely impressed with the app they provided us. This app provides information on dates, what is scheduled when, costs, due dates and pictures everyday of what was completed. Now that to me is truly impressive as it shows how organized and committed, they are towards their clients. We love what they have done with our Kitchen and dining room. We hired SLG to renovate and repair water damage in our ensuite bathroom as well as update a portion of our basement including a washroom. We are extremely pleased with the quality of the work, the speed that it was completed in and the flexibility of the team to deal with issues that arrive renovating a 1950's home. Electrical, framing and plumbing issues were quickly addressed and little extra touches were added with no additional expense to us to update our home. Ivan and his crew were amazing to work with on our backyard project. Showed up when they said they would, and got the job done in 2 days! We couldn't be happier with the results. They came in, removed 3 old decks, leveled the yard, prepped it and finished with pea gravel. His attention to detail was great, his crew were very friendly, and they worked very hard to complete the project quickly. Allick built a tunnel for my cats to move from a window cat door to their catio on the patio. He used materials I had on hand and improved on my original idea to make the setup safer for both me and my cats. He was prompt and finished the job on time and on budget. There were no hidden costs or surprises, and he cleaned up the area before leaving. I would hire Al again.
