We recently used Master Homes Contracting to renovate two bathrooms. Anton came to the house to discuss the project and offer some advice as to the design aspect of what we were doing. We found him very knowledgeable, he made recommendations as to the layout and gave us a clear idea of what the project would look like when completed. We received a detailed quotation within a few days, numerous options with pricing. With some conversation we were comfortable with the quotation and agreed to move ahead. We were then introduced to Ashley who would be our design contact throughout the project. We had done the usual visits to the home stores and to be honest were a little overwhelmed, we really needed some direction and advice. Ashley made it so easy, she supplied numerous choices, with pricing, for each of the components from tile to taps, and really helped us with every selection, for us, that expertise saved weeks of wandering the aisles trying to figure out what we wanted. Once decided, Ashley ordered everything for us and had it delivered to our house. The crew showed up to start the demo on the agreed date, immediately covered my hardwood hall and stairs to avoid any damage as they removed the debris, they were careful to try to limit the dust as much as possible but by nature its a dusty job. Execution was flawless, we did have to make some decisions as to the waterproofing behind the new shower, Anton gave us three options with and actually recommended the LEAST expensive one for what we needed. We had a vacation planned that happened to fall in the middle of the project. We were so comfortable with Anton and his crew, we gave him a key, they continued working while we were away. The project was completed just as we got back, we were so pleased with the results. Both bathrooms look amazing, certainly exceeding our expectations, they even added undercabinet LED accent lighting, not included in the original quote but they thought we would like it. They were right, it added a whole spa like look to the bathroom. The project was completed a few weeks ago but I held off on my review as I knew there would be some minor call backs, there always are with any reno. The true test of a contractor is how well they handle the call backs. A flickering pot light, a sticky drawer on the vanity, they were there next day, resolved without question, we were very impressed. We did add some extras to the project as it progressed but overall they were on budget per their original quote. As a contractor Master Homes ticked all the boxes. On time, on quote, knew what they were doing, all the assistance we needed, daily updates on the project, immediate attention to the callbacks, and probably the most important factor, Trust. We will use them again for our next project without any hesitation, there are so many horror stories out there it was a pleasure and a relief to find a good honest contractor that goes the extra mile to make sure you are satisfied with the results. Hey, my name is John! I own and operate Spectrum Home Service, based out of Kingsville Ontario. I have been at it since 2017 and through the years have done small additions, full bathroom renos, tiling and some masonry. I install a lot of trim and baseboard and flooring. I do a lot of kitchen backsplash as well. I have done quite a range of work but I have been pushing to do more specialized projects such as Composite decking with Aluminum Rail. Another area I am focusing on is the installation of accent walls with tile, shiplap or wood..whatever you need. WOODLINE Corporation has been established and registered since 2015 as a Custom Framing Company. The WOODLINE Team provides services in framing custom homes, basements, decks, home additions, pergolas and sheds as well as custom architectural metal work. All projects are delivered with quality, care and within budget. WOODLINE strives to complete all projects whether big or small on time, and under the careful planning of our experienced Project Manager with 15 years experience in the construction industry. Our employees are highly skilled with over 12 years experience in the House Framing Industry. We continue to upgrade and stay competitive within industry standards.
I contracted Sunil at Woodline to build a custom home. My experience with Woodline Framing Company was highly unprofessional and frustrating. From the start, Sunil, the contractor, failed to fulfill basic responsibilities. Despite receiving clear instructions multiple times, he printed the WRONG set of construction plans, I had to drop off the correct set despite him having them in his possession, he missed key materials, including a large post and placed expensive orders for incorrectly sized beams, which led to significant delays and additional costs. He assured me that everything was accurate and even copied me on an email to the welder/steel supplier confirming the order, only for me to discover major errors that further stalled the project. Without prior notice or approval, Sunil subcontracted the entire job without disclosing this arrangement upfront. This unexpected subcontracting left me at risk, especially as it became evident that the subcontractors had not been paid. Sunil's approach to managing this project was not only careless but also financially reckless, as he failed to properly manage payments and overcharged me for work that was never completed. Additionally, I communicated to him that I was not to be used as his bank to pay his subcontractors as our agreement had clear milestones. I paid Sunil $23,000 plus taxes, and yet only one-third of the milestone was completed - I agreed, out of good-faith on my part (to pre-pay a milestone that wasn't completed believing he would pay his subcontractors and what he owed them). His lack of accountability and professionalism throughout the project has left me with escalating expenses and significant delays. We both agreed to terminate the contract and that I would work directly with the subcontractors that were doing the work instead. We both agreed to this - only to have him hire a law firm demanding that I pay him the full amount of the contract! What's laughable is that he wouldn't even be entitled to the full amount of the contract given he was subcontracting the whole project and had already been overpaid based on my contract with him - I'm entitled to a refund. Sunil did not know or understand basic framing fundamentals like screwing down posts on a wooden LVL beam. I told Sunil I had spoken to other framers and a builder and you never do that as there's nothing (no thread) to attach the post to the wooden LVL below. Regardless, his solution, was "I do it all the time" - which is a scary thought. Rather than admit he forgot a steel beam, he insisted that I ask my engineer to approve a wooden LVL. This is a nearly 7000 sq ft modern home and he would rather cut corners rather than replace the steel beam which I had to push him to do and fix (his subcontractors were able to swap that out and fix it). My only saving grace was that he agreed to terminate the contract and be out of the picture completely before it cost me more money. If you are looking for a reliable, trustworthy contractor, I would strongly advise against using Woodline Framing Company.Latest review:
