I hired AJ Ceramic Tile and Marble to install wall and floor tiles in my kitchen/hallway, powder room, main bathroom and basement bathroom/laundry area. Andrew and his crew did a great job. I did increase the scope of the work that had to be completed but Andrew took care of it without it being an issue. I had only one hiccup where I did not like the colour of the marble they placed on the bathroom niche. I purchased the colour I preferred and Andrew had his crew replace it, again no issue. Project: Below grade entrance and finish basement Our requirement was to get a below-grade entrance and then complete our basement. Unfortunately, our journey to achieving this was nothing short of a nightmare. The first company we hired took our payment and vanished. The second company, which promised to complete the job in three weeks, dragged it out for a year with endless follow-ups, delivered the worst possible workmanship, and ultimately failed the inspection. They then abandoned the project entirely and wouldn’t even take our calls. After spending 1.5 times our budget and dealing with so much frustration, we lost all trust in contractors. Our basement project was put on hold indefinitely because we feared even more complications. Then, through a referral we engaged an engineer Tej from Vin Engineering Inc. to work with us on our legal basement. We wanted to maximize the space in the basement and he accommodate our request, provided some great suggestions to add value to the basement from a long term perpective. In the process of securing the approvals we discussed the issues with failed inspect for below grade entrance. Hearing our story he recommended Aozat Inc. with whom he had worked before. Hitesh and Parixit from Aozat Inc. listened to our concerns, patiently reviewed the failed inspection issues, and provided a clear quote and timeline to complete the project. Given our skepticism and trust issues, they were incredibly flexible, breaking the contract into phases to accommodate us and build our confidence with them. The entire Aozat team was patient, understanding, and professional throughout. They made this entire process easy for us. They always accommodated our requests and never once showed frustration. All approvals were secured at the required stages, ensuring a smooth and compliant process. What stood out most was how the owner and the lead manager of Aozat of the company kept us grounded on costs, making sure we didn’t exceed our budget. Their transparency and honesty were truly commendable. The basement turned out fantastic. We didn’t have to oversee anything, the speed, efficiency in managing different contractors, and their professionalism were admirable and exceeded our expectations. Our project involved stripping our 2-room attic space down to the studs to build a dormer extension with a bathroom, and redo a bedroom, optimizing every inch of space. In executing the work, Nathanael and his team took the time to reinforce studs, beams and joists, taking the time and effort to attend to the subfloor to prevent creaky floors. From structural work, to HVAC/insulation, to the last finishes, no short cuts were ever taken - we truly felt Nathanael and his team cared about the project as though it was their own house. We quickly came to trust Nathanael's judgment and suggestions. No challenge was seen as a problem. Nathanael was always ready with a pragmatic, professional solution at hand that enhanced the design of the project.
