We initially engaged Monaco looking for a designer for a major reno but decided to hire them for the whole job (design/architecture + construction) because Revi appeared knowledgeable, and it seemed like a good idea to hire one team to do it all. It started off well but was ultimately an incredibly frustrating experience. It has now been a year since completion, so weve had a chance to live in our new home and reflect. The construction began on schedule. Nine days after they began, demolition was completed, the support beam was in place, the new walls were framed out, the utilities were run, and all the initial permits were closed. At that point, we were very optimistic. The core construction team, led by Steven, was competent. As a result, a year later, there have been no structural issues. The problems started to mount when we got to the finishings. There were two major sources of problems mediocre sub-contractors, and Revis disinterest in our project and argue now, fix later attitude. It became clear that Revi had delegated our job to her assistant (without informing us prior to signing the contract) and did not feel a sense of ownership of our job. There were several large mistakes made throughout construction incorrect kitchen cabinetry, backsplash tiles, interior doors, hardware, mismatched stain on the stairs and landings, amongst others. While we were sold on a process that focused on quality assurance, we found ourselves doing the job for them, and the most frustrating part was that each time we found a mistake, there would always be an argument before it was fixed. The mismatched stairs incident is the best example of this. We pointed out from the day it was done that there was a problem with the colour to anyone who would listen. Instead of coming and seeing it with her own eyes, Revi argued with us for two weeks by email, citing the contract that said the stairs/landing may not be a perfect match to the flooring, questioning whom we informed (it was everyone), claiming that it couldnt be fixed Until she saw it with her own eyes and immediately recanted. So much stress could have been saved if she had just taken ownership of our job. It felt like she did not get to know us to the extent necessary to do a good job. For example, she had our house painted in a beautiful high end matte paint that looks great and wears terribly. This would have been a good choice for a larger home or one without children, but in our small and spirited house, it looks dirty and needs repainting a year later. Then there were the problems with sub-contractors. I had a month of stress because the electrician, to get out of 30 minutes of work, claimed that our ceiling fans could not be wired the way they had been safely wired for years prior, and Revi argued back and forth, telling us her contractor wouldnt do it because it could cause a fire .. until we got another licensed electrician to write a statement saying she was wrong. Similarly, before paying Revi an additional amount to have her painter fix water staining around our skylights, we paid her roofer to inspect to ensure there was no active leakage. He inspected three times during the reno (once for a separate issue) and found none of the glaring issues which caused leaking within months, damaging our newly finished ceilings. Since the construction ended last summer, we have reached out with several issues and most have been dealt with. However, we were not able to solve the problems caused by the aforementioned leaking due to repeated incompetence by their roofing contractor. In trying to get her to remedy this, she once again cited the contract without understanding the situation, and then finally offered to fix it, but in her offer included an insane ChatGPT generated agreement that sounds like a fake lawyer wrote it, that says she will fix it if we promise not to reflect upon our experience publicly. And because my silence is worth more than some ceiling repairs and paint, we are here today telling you we would not hire her again.

However getting to the result was somewhat painful as the composite materials required for the deck took an unreasonably long time to be available so the job could be completed.

Choosing Neo Kitchen for our kitchen and vanities renovation was the best decision we made and we are very happy with the work they did in our new home. From the start of the process, it was a pleasure working with Michael to design our layouts and make our kitchen and vanity selections. We are quite picky and often changed our minds as we thought of new ideas and Michael was extremely patient through it all and gave excellent advice and insights based on his many years of experience. No matter how many questions we asked, he always answered with a smile that made us feel comfortable and confident that our needs were being understood. Gaby was also extremely helpful and accommodating with our questions and requests to come into the showroom to look at samples. She was a big part of making the experience successful for us as we are very detail oriented and needed to see things with our own eyes to help make decisions. Kevin and his team were very respectful and friendly when they came into our home for measurements and installation. Like us, they pay close attention to detail to make sure everything is installed properly and they are very efficient, tidy, professional, and accommodating with their work. We had some specific requests with our island wiring and work around ductwork and it was all perfectly taken care of. The team Michael works with to install countertops also did an excellent job and were very friendly and easy to work with. The quality of the workmanship and materials used by Neo Kitchen is also top notch for a reasonable price. The cabinets themselves are strong and the paint finishes are all top quality. And Michael is a man of his word - we discovered a small bubble in the paint on one of our vanity doors and Michael took care of it immediately without any hesitation. Believe me, that sort of "make it right" professional attitude makes a world of difference when you're renovating your home. All in all, it was a pleasure to work with Michael and his team and we highly recommend them to anyone considering a kitchen or bathroom renovation or new build. They honestly took a huge concern off our minds and made it all work out flawlessly without any headaches or concerns at a time when we needed that most. I can't recommend Watertite Waterproofers highly enough! Our 1920 house had been plagued by a leaky basement, with streams of water forming during even moderate rainfall. After much research, we turned to Angelo and his team for a proper fix. We received quotes from three different companies, but it was Angelo's extensive knowledge as a general contractor that truly impressed us, along with pricing that was competitive with his peers. From the moment they started the work, everything went seamlessly. The team was not only swift but also incredibly courteous and considerate of our backyard plantings and furniture. What stood out the most was their commitment to communicationthey walked us through every step of the process and provided various solutions for dealing with a shared gutter with our neighbour. I was particularly impressed with the meticulous attention to detail; no shortcuts were taken, and the corner wraps were done with exceptional care. We started our renovation with such high hopes but the project ended prematurely (and was left incomplete) leaving us with absolute disappointment. We had to hire another company to fix the shoddy work Luis left behind. Luis can do alot of things but unfortunately in our home he did nothing really well. Based on the work he did for us, I can only conclude that he is nothing more than a glorified handyman parading as a professional contractor. My suggestion is to keep looking. He was a nightmare. If you read Luis' reply to this post, don't believe a word - just look at the pics. He is trying to paint me as the problem when he needs to look into the mirror. This job was not finished as Luis was fired from the project due to poor workmanship. He makes it sound like he returned my money but this is untrue. He paid back a small portion of the pre-paid installment payments which were made in good faith and on time. Despite what he says below, he just could not deliver what he promised and what he did deliver was generally sub-par. A third contractor (not hired) that saw pics of the work said, "The picture you sent me needs to be completely torn out, absolutely terrible work, Im not touching that with a 12ft pole. Sorry man, dont take it the wrong way. Im not interested in fixing anyone elses work or having someone elses work be the base for my work. If youre not willing to tear that out, Ill pass."

Rifat and his team are pros! Great communication, came to our home with samples, recommendations, and answered all the questions we had. Quote was shared very quickly and project was completed on time and on budget. About the project: We had LVP installed across two levels of our home (approximately 1,100 square feet) and carpet installed on the stairs leading upstairs and to the basement. Rifat, Yusuf, and the rest of Rifat’s team showed a great attention to detail and exceptional craftsmanship. I highly recommend Rifat to anyone looking to have their flooring replaced.
