We were fortunate to find Traian Stanciu to install our new Ikea kitchen. He has expertise, creativity and precision tools that are rare, compared with other installers we checked out. Listen to his advice to get full value from his years of experience. Our 100 year old house had predictable irregularities that needed correction. Traian recommended Sorin Lazar to take care of that. Another gem! There is a lot to be nervous about, choosing someone to do a kitchen reno, there are so many scammers, quick-buck artists and horror stories out there. Traian turned out to be a solid choice. Better than solid, in fact. He stepped up to help with things that were not part of the job, to keep us on schedule. Don't be put off if Traian seems a bit direct or even blunt on first meeting. It's actually a plus, because he doesn't ingratiate himself with salesy overpromises. He listens to what you want and knows how to get you there, on schedule, at a fair price.

Lex came highly recommended by my brother so I decided to hire him to lay a backyard concrete patio and widen the driveway. Work was delayed from September and finally started in the second week of December. This should have been my first warning sign. He assured me it will be fine as he has done work in colder temperatures. I trusted him as he was the professional. The backyard patio was laid first and the driveway was done a week later. In the late spring, I noticed some flaking of the backyard patio surface and called Lex. He said he would come out to have a look as soon as possible. He never showed up nor did he contact me. (My second warning sign). After several more calls to Lex, I felt he was feeling annoyed with me calling him and he actually shifted the blame on me stating I must have sprayed water onto the patio concrete after he left. Why in the world would I even do this as any normal person would wait for the concrete to harden. Needless to say, Lex NEVER came back to see how the flaking affected the patio. After I paid him the full amount, he considered this a closed case! To this day, I cannot fully enjoy my backyard patio as the flaking has affected the whole surface and each time I see it, I cannot help but feel being ripped off by this man! In my opinion, his workmanship is extremely shoddy and his customer service is non existent. I do NOT recommend this company to anyone unless you want to be ripped off.

Jimmy at GTA Siding was fantastic to work with. He responded to the job quickly and came to provide an estimate within 24hrs. He correctly diagnosed our rainwater leak problem from my posted picture, where other contractors did not. Jimmy's quote was thorough but practical, with options to discuss, and very good value for money compared to other quotes. He was able to fit the job in the next day and ran a professional worksite. A month later and not a drop of water inside our house. Many thanks to Jimmy and GTA Siding!

We purchased our home 5 years ago which had a finished basement with ceilings at a max height of 6'. We knew that we wanted to underpin and had several companies offer quotes, but we weren't comfortable with any of them until we had Daniel from True North come by to assess the property and offer a quote. Daniel was there for over an hour during his initial visit and took the time to explain the process to us, offer ideas, and point out where we may encounter issues during the process. He was incredibly thorough and personable which made us feel at ease. The quote he provided was not the lowest, but it was very detailed and included considerations for issues that sometimes come up during the underpinning process and estimates for what it may cost if we ran into those issues. The work was slightly delayed as we had to jump through an extra hoop with the city due to our property being on ravine land but once we got the permit from the city, Daniel's team was able to start work almost immediately. From day 1 the team was professional, responsible and courteous. They were on time every single day, and were kind to our young kids and our somewhat anxious dog. We were nervous about the process, but it became clear quickly that the team were experts in what they do, and they were always happy to have us come downstairs and explain what they were doing. Our house is >100 years old so we anticipated running into issues during the process, but in the end the only unforeseen issue was related to lead water pipes which were quickly identified and replaced by the team. The anticipated timeline for the project was 4-6 weeks and they finished in exactly 4 weeks. A professional and hard-working team, A+ customer service, work completed on budget and ahead of schedule. I don't know why you'd look anywhere else if you're planning an underpinning project!

After another contractor ghosted my mother, Linq came in to save the day. They remedied a badly installed drywall repair that was needed after a roofer fell through her ceiling, and had the room prepped, primed and painted within three days of my request for service. The only member of this "team" is Paul. He also doesn't do any of the physical work. He is a poor planner. He is disorganised when it comes to tracking finances. After asking for many weeks for a breakdown he provided an oral breakdown, not a paper copy. Over $22,000 in payments were unaccounted for. It was adjusted once pointed out. There are many things that were only addressed or fixed after being pointed out. What if I hadn't noticed them? If you do not know about home renovations, which I didn't before this project, Paul will try to get as much money out of you by not telling the truth, overcharging, and more. What I could see of the job was mostly done adequately, there are several elements that were not done right. And there were so many more items that were fixed only after I pointed them out. When you deal with Paul you are dealing with a charming, dominant personality who makes you feel confident in them. But I have caught him in so many falsehoods. The job has also taken much longer than Paul said it would. Had to be on top of Paul for many things that he did not do well. Some are still outstanding. - Paul asked for $726 extra to cover additional permit fees, I paid on the spot. Months later, before the project was done, I asked for the paperwork to backup these charges. Only then did he say the extra funds weren't needed, so he would give me the money back. He has still not paid it back. What if I hadn't noticed or asked for it? - his workers complained he had not paid them in weeks, although I had paid for 95% of the job before it was done. When I intervened he paid some of them. FYI, the last 10% of the job should not be paid until the end. So I paid ahead of the industry standard schedule, because of Paul. - had all walls exposed and left the main floor bathroom not venting properly. I don't think he hired a plumber to do the work in that bathroom, as venting is a basic plumbing necessity, and access to all pipes were open for weeks. - provided paint samples one week. Then floor samples a few weeks later. Then counter samples a couple weeks after that. Provided only one cabinet style (many colours though). All samples should be provided at the same time when making a design choice. Not with Paul. - Charged me $12,000 to get drains put in the basement. $2,000 of that was for a sump pump I had already paid for. He adjusted the $2,000 when I pointed out he double billed me, but what if I didn't catch it. Also, told me that extras would be billed at cost. I know for a fact because I was told, that the drains cost was in the $4,000s. He would say this or that is done, and yet there would be problems, or items not finished properly. Some were small, while others were not. I had the time to drop in and catch things before they were covered up, and not visible. But if you are not going to be there, he will instruct his people to cut corners where they can. To his benefit, not yours. - called me a stickler because I wanted things done as we had agreed to them in writing. I didn't know that wanting a written agreement to be honoured was being a stickler. - Asked me for money towards the end of the job because his garbage expenses were higher than anticipated. I said no. - A week later he asked me for money to pay for the glass to be used in the shower, but our contract included it already. - a week or two later he asked me for money because he wasn't going to make much money on the job. I said no. - Then a week or two later it turned into I had to pay for the entire job before it was done because there was no money left to finish the job and he was "in the red". I said no, I've paid for almost the entire job, finish it. He asked for this in January, and the job was still going on in March.
