Zeeshan and his team from Reno Leaders Inc did an excellent job finishing up our legal basement apartment. We had previously experienced other contractors, which was disappointing and frustrating. We were very skeptical about working with them initially, but after meeting with Zeeshan, and him taking the time to explain the process to us in detail, we knew that he was the right person for the job. They were well-organized, came in on time, and cleaned up at the end of each day. Zeeshan also kept us updated and made sure that we were informed every step of the way. There were some little things that needed to be tweaked, and they came back and fixed it right away. We were so pleased with the results that we've recommended Zeeshan to other friends and family. We had such a great experience working with Aventus. From start to finish, their communication was excellent—they kept us updated every step of the way and made sure we always knew what was happening. Saad and crew were meticulous in their work, paying attention to every detail, and it’s clear they truly cared about the outcome. They didn’t just want to finish the job, they wanted it to be done right. They also gave us thoughtful advice along the way, helping us make smart decisions about the yard that we wouldn’t have thought of on our own. Beyond the quality of their work, what stood out the most was how genuine and kind they were. Honest, easy to talk to, and clearly proud of what they do. As a bonus, on my son’s birthday they even took the time to let him pose with the excavator, which absolutely made his day, that’s the type of people they are. Our yard looks fantastic, but the whole process was just as impressive as the final result. I’d recommend them without hesitation

We found Marjan and On-Time via homestars. He answered my request for quote immediately, was on the phone with me and came out to survey the job within a couple days of my initial request. Marjan was very detailed in how he'd approach the deck in terms of the materials he'd be using and how it would be built. (He had me at "joist protection" :) ) We agreed to move ahead, and all I had to do was pick our deck colour and rails and Marjan handled everything else. My understanding is he usually has other people helping but I guess they were unavailable so Marjan built it *by HIMSELF* in 3.5 days. And we're talking 2x12s with carriage bolts, cedar posts, 16x8 foot deck 12 or so feet in the air. Not only was he quick, I, without exaggeration, have the best deck on the street. I've watched crews of 3-4 guys build my neighour's decks slower, without the same level of quality Marjan brought. Pure skill and experience. A total Pro. Thank you again Marjan and enjoy your holidays!

Sever Homes took on our dream project and transformed the central living space in our home to one that we can’t imagine living without! The project came in on budget within the initial timelines agreed. The owner is an outstanding lead contractor and maintained a regular communication flow so we were kept updated on status constantly. The quality of finish is superb. He has a keen eye for function and design and he provided solid guidance at every key stage. He saved us precious time by directing us to selective third party vendors and even accompanied us on shopping trips and planning meetings to ensure all involved collaborated in an effective manner, thereby keeping the pace of progress on track. When we met with any unexpected complexities/challenges he provided solid rationale for workable solutions, always upholding the integrity of the design. He is well respected within the industry, as evidenced by the strong relationships he has with a stand-up group of sub-trades. They all worked efficiently, seamlessly handing off from one to the other, back and forth - always maintaining the same high standard of work that we came to expect from Sever Homes and team. The level of after-service we received served to enhance what was overall an outstandingly positive experience from Sever Homes. We would highly recommend this team for any medium to large scale building and design projects.

We initially engaged Monaco looking for a designer for a major reno but decided to hire them for the whole job (design/architecture + construction) because Revi appeared knowledgeable, and it seemed like a good idea to hire one team to do it all. It started off well but was ultimately an incredibly frustrating experience. It has now been a year since completion, so weve had a chance to live in our new home and reflect. The construction began on schedule. Nine days after they began, demolition was completed, the support beam was in place, the new walls were framed out, the utilities were run, and all the initial permits were closed. At that point, we were very optimistic. The core construction team, led by Steven, was competent. As a result, a year later, there have been no structural issues. The problems started to mount when we got to the finishings. There were two major sources of problems mediocre sub-contractors, and Revis disinterest in our project and argue now, fix later attitude. It became clear that Revi had delegated our job to her assistant (without informing us prior to signing the contract) and did not feel a sense of ownership of our job. There were several large mistakes made throughout construction incorrect kitchen cabinetry, backsplash tiles, interior doors, hardware, mismatched stain on the stairs and landings, amongst others. While we were sold on a process that focused on quality assurance, we found ourselves doing the job for them, and the most frustrating part was that each time we found a mistake, there would always be an argument before it was fixed. The mismatched stairs incident is the best example of this. We pointed out from the day it was done that there was a problem with the colour to anyone who would listen. Instead of coming and seeing it with her own eyes, Revi argued with us for two weeks by email, citing the contract that said the stairs/landing may not be a perfect match to the flooring, questioning whom we informed (it was everyone), claiming that it couldnt be fixed Until she saw it with her own eyes and immediately recanted. So much stress could have been saved if she had just taken ownership of our job. It felt like she did not get to know us to the extent necessary to do a good job. For example, she had our house painted in a beautiful high end matte paint that looks great and wears terribly. This would have been a good choice for a larger home or one without children, but in our small and spirited house, it looks dirty and needs repainting a year later. Then there were the problems with sub-contractors. I had a month of stress because the electrician, to get out of 30 minutes of work, claimed that our ceiling fans could not be wired the way they had been safely wired for years prior, and Revi argued back and forth, telling us her contractor wouldnt do it because it could cause a fire .. until we got another licensed electrician to write a statement saying she was wrong. Similarly, before paying Revi an additional amount to have her painter fix water staining around our skylights, we paid her roofer to inspect to ensure there was no active leakage. He inspected three times during the reno (once for a separate issue) and found none of the glaring issues which caused leaking within months, damaging our newly finished ceilings. Since the construction ended last summer, we have reached out with several issues and most have been dealt with. However, we were not able to solve the problems caused by the aforementioned leaking due to repeated incompetence by their roofing contractor. In trying to get her to remedy this, she once again cited the contract without understanding the situation, and then finally offered to fix it, but in her offer included an insane ChatGPT generated agreement that sounds like a fake lawyer wrote it, that says she will fix it if we promise not to reflect upon our experience publicly. And because my silence is worth more than some ceiling repairs and paint, we are here today telling you we would not hire her again.

After hearing a lot of horror stories about contractors who take advantage of their clients, we were skeptical about hiring any contractor to get our kitchen renovated. My brother-in-law suggested we give Josh from Level Custom Build a call, as he knew them well. It turned out to be the best decision we made. We werent sure about what we wanted; we only knew we wanted a modern functional kitchen. On our first visit with Josh, he took the time to explain all the details to us. He set our expectations for what they were able to do and what was possible. He addressed all our questions and concerns. Here is a team that is extremely skilled, very punctual, clean, pays attention to details, very patient to our numerous changes, provides excellent quality of work, respects our home and took measures to make sure not to damage anything. They take pride in what they do and not just treat you like a number. I was extremely impressed with the app they provided us. This app provides information on dates, what is scheduled when, costs, due dates and pictures everyday of what was completed. Now that to me is truly impressive as it shows how organized and committed, they are towards their clients. We love what they have done with our Kitchen and dining room. Thank you, Al, Josh, Kevin, Jamal and the rest of the team. You guys gave us our Dream Kitchen. We worked with Jim of JB Contracting this summer to have the two story porch on our century home rebuilt. We had been trying to get someone to rebuild this porch for two years, but didn't find the right fit until JB Contracting. Jim is a master of his craft and meticulous in everything he does; he wow'd us with his knowledge of the correct architectural styling as well as his own design ideas to really make the front of our house shine. He took our rotted out porch from giving 1970s frat house vibes to a stunning, handcrafted statement piece in the appropriate second empire / craftsmen style. Jim and the crew (Joey, Alex, and Alberto) worked tirelessly on this project and were beyond respectful of the fact that we had a newborn baby sleeping throughout the day right where they were working. They made sure to check in every day to see how we were feeling with the project. Jim's communication is clear, thoughtful, and we'd work with them again any day!

Install concrete floor- 25 Sep 2025
The team kept to schedule, and the concrete blocks were neatly installed with a solid foundation. However, IMO, the steps were poorly designed with an unnecessarily steep pitch and narrow steps that made the walk up from the street to the house more strenuous than needed. I raised this, but was met with resistance and had to push for a solution—ultimately paying extra to have them redone more adequately. Within months, several steps came loose. I was told to wait for better weather (no major concern was shown). After they glued the loose steps, others came undone. This time I fell and hit my face on the concrete step. No apology was offered. The second re-gluing was rushed, left glue stains, and cleanup only happened after I asked them to return to clean it. Communication became tense, and I felt increasingly dismissed. I grew tired of treating them as if they were the client. Today, I’ve lost trust in MDPA. My lawyer suggested legal action, but I’ve held off if the steps fail again.

We are very pleased with Victor's work and highly recommend him. Our original 1870s staircase was separating from the wall, creating instability and lots of creaking. We had delayed dealing with the situation because we were pretty sure that the fix would be time-consuming, messy and expensive. We are thrilled that Victor proved us wrong on all counts! His experience and great carpentry expertise enabled him to tackle only the risers and treads that were causing problems-- without having to do a major teardown of the under-stair area. Not only is Victor very skillful and honest-- he also takes great pride in his work and enjoys creative problem solving. We are so happy that he responded to our HomeStars request!
