Maurice and his team went above and beyond. I posted a request for a quote on a Wednesday, and Maurice was one of the roofers who came by very quickly to inspect the roof and offer a quote. After considering which company to hire, I contacted him and we agreed for the work to be done on the following Saturday. A few bits of underlying wood needed replacing, plus the underlay, ice and water shield, shingles, and new vents needed to be installed, among other things. They even added extra brackets to shore up my evestroughs, and added some extra caulking to a completely different part of our roof to extend the life of that section. They accomplished all this in one day! They also cleaned everything up perfectly, took multiple pictures at my request, and offered the best warranty. To say they were thorough is an understatement. While trying to repair a leak that we discovered inside our exterior walls, we decided to hire Beni for the job. While his quote was the most expensive of the other 2, he promised to do a good job and agreed to do all of what was being asked which included disassembling every exterior fixture such as the security cameras and light fixtures and re-finishing the entire front walls of the house as well as repairing every crack with new stucco and repainting the entire exterior of the house. Upon start of the work, I noticed the his crew started taping around the cameras and putting silicon in the cracks where a proper repair was to take place, this was brought up to him and he slightly responded saying "Don't worry". Later on I also noticed that the walls were not clear of debris before painting and parts of plants and dirt that was stuck to the wall had been painted over which once again I brought up to his attention and needless to say they were not adequately fixed. Needless to say that instead of the entire front of the house being re-finished, parts and patches were which as anyone who has done stucco would know looks terrible. On another occasion I had asked his crew to NOT step on a fresh concrete that was pored in the back of the house for a deck project and to my amazement within 5 minutes of that conversation the opposite happened and I caught his crew walking on the freshly pored concrete. When I confronted Arben (Beni) with all the problems he blamed COVID inability to find good laborer's. To make matters even worse, the crew made a huge mess everywhere, walked on my neighbors lawn and driveway, spilt paint over my neighbors drive way as well as the armor stones next the wall and back yard. Overall, the job that I paid top dollar for turned out to be a nightmare due to false promises and absolute lack of attention to details. I have no doubt that the other positive feedbacks here from friends or fabricated as their work speaks for itself. I was referred UNIC by a neighbor who had some eavetroughs replaced. After reading several reviews UNIC was contacted to get a quote. My neighbor and I live in a semi and we wished to have vinyl siding, new facsia and soffits installed. The UNIC rep came to meet with us and was quite pleasant with us. He seemed to be very knowledgeable. A week after our meeting, we received a quote for the work. After pursuing several quotes for comparison and doing some additional research on UNIC, my neighbor and I decided to engage UNIC for the work. We met once again with UNIC rep, decided on colors, and discussed approximate time for the work to begin. The following morning, the UNIC contacted us advising that an error was made in the quote and the total cost for the job had increased by $6000. Not a small amount, almost double the original quote. I understand errors do happen, but a substantial increase in a quote at the time that a decision has been made is a bit troubling. Unfortunately we are now left to swallow the additional cost and start over trying to find another contractor, as winter quickly approaches. I had 3 downspouts that were leaking at the elbow. I spoke with Rob on the phone who said that all 3 would be $500 plus materials. This was a fair price so I agreed. Rob said he would schedule his son, Dalton. I later had a phone call with Dalton explaining the problem and that I was travelling for work and wouldn't be reliably near the phone for a few days, but asked if he could repair the leaks if possible to be more cost effective to get the price below the $500 replacement quote. If not, I said he could replace the downspouts. I gave him my wife's number just in case. Dalton completed the work, sent photos, and an invoice on Dec 6 at 530pm. This is where it all went wrong. The invoice listed a "Minimum Fee" of $500+HST. I didn't like the surprise "minimum" fee nor the fact that Dalton used white caulking on our black/brown downspouts. I texted Dalton that I needed to discuss this with him when I was back from my trip on Dec 10. Dalton proceeded to call text me every day on the 7th-9th. He called my wife repeatedly asking for the money: she told him I needed to speak with him. He called me 5 times on the 10th while I on the plane home. I finished work very late on the 10th and didn't get to speak with him, which was my bad. During my workday on the 11, he called another 9 times and continued to badger my wife while accusing me of ducking his calls. I've never had a contractor be so aggressive in trying to get immediate payment. I called Rob that evening, and he apologized for Dalton's relentlessness. He maintained that he had told me about the minimum. I would have never agreed to a $500 minimum. None of my other trades works this way: even the licensed ones (HVAC, electrical, plumbers). Rob maintained this was because of the cost of gas and of the size of ladder and the size of his truck/trailer. We agreed to disagree about this, and Rob was able to get Dalton to trim $50 off the price. I should have insisted on a written quote (not verbal), but I never usually ask for one for small jobs like this. I paid the amount due immediately, but am not thrilled that I spent $450 for an hour's labour. Licensed trades are less than half that. Rob offered to fix the white caulking by covering it in black. He also offered to replace the downspouts if that's what I really wanted. I declined the replacement, mainly because after all of Dalton's calls to my wife and I, I didn't want him near the property. I have no problem paying trades or compensating people for their time or expenses. I do it regularly as part of my business. I don't like being misled about cost then being hounded for taking a reasonable time to ask questions before I pay the invoice. Dalton was paid in full 3 business days after I received the invoice.

The experience we had was absolutely terrible! We DO NOT recommend this company. We've spent over $50,000 and still have an incomplete kitchen. We told Dan at Caledon Renovations, from the very beginning, that we needed the renovation completed as quickly as possible to sell and relocate for work. Dan told us that he could complete the work in 4 weeks. On June 3rd, 2024, demolition began on our whole main floor. Once demolition was complete, no one showed up for 2 weeks. We were constantly told there were issues sourcing product, finally, when he showed up with the floor tile, it was not what we had picked but decided to continue anyway to speed up the renovation. It is now August 7th and it still not done. There were several quality issues that were addressed several times and Dan offered to come back to fix these issues for a 3rd time - we declined. The final straw was when we had a subcontractor show up at our house demanding money or he would place a lean on our house. After speaking to this gentleman, we found out that Dan had not paid him and said it was because we owed money - we were paid up to date. When we told Dan we do not want to work with him because of the trouble he has caused, he offered a refund of $1200 for upper kitchen cabinet doors. Even though we were not satisfied with the refund amount, we agreed. We told him to pick up his sign from our home and give us the refund. That was 6 days ago and we've heard nothing from him.
