There is a few different product out there it’s best to read the applications it is different for some products. Most is just apply, let it sit. And wipe. It’s a fairly simple step. There is some products out there that will darken your grout like an enhance sealer. Best to read each product. Cheers Jim

Yes, you should apply grout sealer after tiling your bathroom and shower. Grout is porous and can absorb water, soap, and dirt, leading to stains, mildew, or mold, especially in high-moisture areas like bathrooms and showers. Sealing the grout protects it from these issues, extends its lifespan, and makes maintenance easier.

Hi, yes it is recommended to apply Grout sealer. Choosing the right color will enhance the look of your tiles. You might want to consider the following: Grout sealers are primarily categorized into two main types: penetrating and non-penetrating. Within these categories, you can also find options that are either water-based or solvent-based. Penetrating sealers soak into the grout, while non-penetrating sealers form a coating on the surface.

Good question! YESSSS. Check what kind of tile you actually have. If it’s porcelain, you can just seal the grout lines. A basic grout sealer is all you need, and it won’t change how the tile looks. If you’re working with natural stone (marble, limestone, travertine, etc.), then you want an impregnating sealer. That type soaks into the stone to protect it without adding any shine or damaging the stone. It will be much easier to clean. Applies Easily: • Make sure everything is very clean and fully dry • Brush the sealer onto the grout or stone • Wipe any extra off the tiles before it dries

Yes — in an Ontario bathroom or shower you MUST seal the grout if you want it to stay clean, mold-free, and looking new for more than a year. In every bathroom and especially any shower in Ontario, sealing the grout is not optional — it’s mandatory for long-term performance. Modern cement grouts (even the “stain-resistant” ones like Mapei Ultracolor Plus FA or Bostik Hydroment) are still porous and will absorb water, body oils, shampoo dyes, and mold spores within months if left unsealed. In a wet, humid Canadian climate the difference is night-and-day. What the top 1% of tile contractors actually do to ensure zero mold callbacks: CEMENT-BASED GROUT → wait minimum 72 hours (7–14 days is better in winter) → apply TWO coats of a premium penetrating sealer (never topical “grout shine” products in a shower). Best products Ontario pros stock in 2025: - Miracle Sealants 511 Impregnator - Aqua Mix Sealer's Choice Gold - StoneTech BulletProof Sealer - Custom Building Products TLPS24Z (Home Depot’s pro favourite) EPOXY GROUT (Spectralock, Kerapoxy, Starlike) → sealing is optional because epoxy is already 100% non-porous and stain-proof. Most high-end installers still apply one light coat for extra insurance against hard-water etching. Re-seal schedule: Shower walls & floors → every 12–24 months (test by dripping water — if it darkens the grout in under 5 minutes, re-seal). Bathroom floor only (no daily shower) → every 3–5 years. Bottom line I give every homeowner: If it’s a shower or wet-area bathroom in Ontario and you used cement grout, seal it twice after 7–14 days and again every 1–2 years. Skip this step and you’ll be scrubbing black mold and dyed grout lines for the rest of your life. Do it once, do it right, and your grout will still look brand new 10 years from now.

Yes — you should seal grout in both the bathroom and especially the shower. It helps prevent stains, moisture absorption, and that unwanted “mold is back again” moment. 👍 Applying it is simple: • Let the grout cure fully • Use a small brush, sponge, or applicator bottle • Wipe sealer onto the grout lines only • After a few minutes, wipe any extra off the tile surface It won’t change the look of your tiles — the tiles stay the same, and the grout might look slightly richer for a moment while wet, but it dries back to normal. Quick job, big payoff. And your future self will thank you in the shower. 😄

Yes, you should absolutely apply grout sealer after tiling a bathroom or shower. Grout is porous, so sealing it helps prevent moisture absorption, staining, and mould growth. Applying it is straightforward: once the grout has fully cured (typically 48–72 hours), clean the surface, then use a small applicator brush, roller bottle, or spray-on sealer. Work it directly into the grout lines, wipe any excess off the tiles immediately, and allow it to dry as directed before a second coat. A proper sealer won’t change the appearance of your tiles. Most sealers dry clear and don’t alter the grout colour either — just be sure to wipe off any residue so the tiles maintain their natural finish.
