I hired Shawn to fix major issues with my walkout balcony—a sagging dormer roof, rotted posts and underneath structure and flat roof pooling. He quoted a 2-day job with 50% upfront. Work dragged on for over a month with poor communication and slow progress. Key contract items weren’t completed or done improperly. He didn’t jack up the roof enough to fix the eaves slope, did not reslope flat roof, didn’t remove the old membrane and instead installed the new one over the old one. The membrane ends abruptly near the threshold, with visible old material and substrate along the edge, and several other things can't fit in this review. When I raised concerns, he said “wait until I’m done.” On May 13, he claimed the job was done and demanded the rest of the payment. When I refused due to unfinished work, he threatened to lien my property and destroy the work done. He also said “You’re asking for a Rolls Royce for your budget.” when he's the one who wrote the contract. I simply agreed and paid.

I contacted GCR through HomeStars. Derek responded very quickly and provided an initial estimate. He was also very flexible and came over for a detailed estimate on time. He was thorough with his work and even suggested us to use Owen’s cornering which is high quality materials and avoid others. His team arrived on time and completed the job very efficiently all in one day. We lived in a semi detached with our neighbour and so we completed both houses together. His team’s workmanships was quality work and took photos before and after to show us. Their team replaced the plumbing vent flashing as well as replaced our vents with metal for an extra fee. They also did a great job cleaning up. His prices were very reasonable as well. He also provided detail quotes and offered warranty for his job. It’s been 3 months and so far there hasn’t been any issues. I found Derek and his team to be very professional throughout. Overall I would recommend Derek and his team again! Thank you Derek !

Earl's crews did superb work for me on two roofs. At my income property In late 2022. one of his crews did a full replacement of shingles, also replaced some rotten boards, and realigned improperly draining eavestroughs. ($17,458.) Then, at my home in late 2023, a different crew did a variety of repairs, involving reshingling in a number of places. They also replaced missing pieces of fascia and soffit, including spots that were difficult/risky to access. ($6,328.) The work by both crews was of first-rate quality and very reasonably priced. D & S Renovations completed my much needed basement renovations due to the floods of 2023. I was able to have open communication on a daily basis. Therefore I knew where the project was at and when to expect trade individuals into my home. They were very flexible with adjustments I requested and let me know of any additional safety issues they discovered along the way. Thanks Rey for your work on the carpet. We had to get the carpet reseamed due to water damage. Rey was reasonable and affordable and he did a great job. The carpet was damaged in one area beyond repair, but he was able to suggest ways to make it look the best possible. He did the work within a few hours of a day. "MJ" is a good salesman and was quick to pick up my payment. However, the work completed was not what he committed to and did not stop the leak. Plus his crew damaged my roof shingles and dumped excess mortar on my neighbours property. I paid to have the chimney tarped (because he didn't) and 5 months later I'm still chasing him and listening to his empty assurances. Check the Better Business Bureau!
