Work cannot be completed, trying to get my deposit returned On the day of the small job to fix the staircase, they lifted one stone at the bottom of the stairs. Unfortunately the small 5-step staircase immediately came apart (due to age of structure). This meant the nature of the job has changed (its no longer a small job) and my entire staircase had to be replaced (now a bigger job!). It was impossible to proceed with the original small job. I asked to have my deposit returned, after adjusting for expenses they may have incurred (one extra person for labour? truck rental to dispose debris? a bucket of cement?). Its been over 2 weeks since the job attempt. My calls are now automatically sent to an unactivated voicemail. This has been a very unfortunate turn of events. 8-(

Hired AAAHS to repair wall in my basement and was quoted the price. I informed the company that the job would require painting. AAAHS arrived late and proceeded to repair wall. He patched the wall and said his job did not include sanding or painting. I don’t understand why he would think that we would just want the wall repaired and not painted. I pointed out that is not what I wrote in my message and was told he gets thousands of messages a day regarding jobs, so it’s not his problem that he can not keep track of what the job entails. I could have gotten the job done in completion by another person for less money. I was left very confused and angry. This company needs to work on their communication skills and provide proper estimates so the client knows exactly what they are paying for and not be tricked into retaining their service and in the end the job that is completed is incomplete.Latest review:Nixson Painting & Renovation

We also do bathroom refinishing from full bathroom remodels or shower upgrades. We are a one stop company that does all the work ourselves.
I always try to support local when I can. Unfortunately I did not complete my due diligence and that is on me. However I would like to save the next person who may be tempted to fall for the shoddy work that this Painter finally completed. Len advertised as a local family owned business that had 30 years of experience. He was quick to complete a quote for me and assured me that he had availability that had just opened up and he could complete my job in two to three weeks. This really surprised me as the three other quotes I got said it would probably be about a month before they could start and it would be a six week completion time. ( Red flag #1). The cost was reasonable and a savings of 1500 on the next closest bid. I guess you get what you pay for ( Red flag #2). My next Big Mistake was I paid in full to save another 10% and avoid the tax . I know that was foolish of me but he convinced both myself and my husband that he was an honest local small business. The job was set to start in the midst of the first heat wave of the summer. He phoned and canceled the day he was to start. I was understanding and we postponed by a few days. That was the start of 14 more cancelations over the course of the job. I was very patient and he had many excuses to cover his behind. My 3 week job took 5 months to somewhat complete. The cabinets look nice but the completion was lacking. The backsplash was crooked and we had to get him back to fix. The electric outlet s were not put back on. The silicon around the countertops is crooked. I could go on and on. I think you get the message. A young fellow came to my condo for this job. This was such a small and simple job, I already removed most of the old caulking, all it need was applying new caulking. I'm not impressed of the finishing details.

I hired Doyle Contracting to put down cement and build a shed according to specifications I provided (I have provided a photo of the shed and the copy of the specs I provided. The shed I ordered did not have the cupola on top nor the plant pots, so none of that should in the photos). The work was mostly completed yesterday, but there were some issues with the quality of work around the windows and with the siding on the top edges of the shed. Doyle contracting agreed to take care of that only if I paid them more money. If you look at the photos of the work done and the photos from the specifications though it is obvious the work was not done properly. You can see around the windows in the front and on the edging the quality of work you will get if you hire them. For that reason, I would strongly argue against ever using Doyle Contracting and would find a different company if you ever need any work done.

They were good to respond & came immediately. Requested Sam, to check from inside, in the attic, to see where water was coming from but they weren't interested in doing that. We then climbed the roof and to my surprise they came up with 4 sheets of shingles they were going to replace without first getting approval & without price discussion. Sam replaced where he thought water might have entered from. It was clear they had come with the intent to replace shingles but didnt have all the right tools because the pneumatic hammer to nail the shingles was not working and they had to use a metal rod to nail the shingles. They also used different, reddish colour shingles, compared to existing grey. They charged me $200 & I allowed work, not wanting problems. Maybe what they did was the right solution but they had come with the agenda to replace shingles only, even though i requested them to check & investigate from attic & other place. They should stop forcing the work on customers.
