We had the pleasure of working with Skylights Unlimited on two projects this year, and their work exceeded expectations both times. The first project was at a high-end downtown condo where they replaced two cracked VLX skylight dams. These were top-of-the-line skylights with integrated shades and electrical features, and the replacement was handled with the utmost professionalism. The results were flawless, and the client was thrilled with the outcome. Dennis and his team were accommodating, detail-oriented, and committed to ensuring everything was perfect. The second project was a skylight installation for a small addition, and once again, the team delivered exceptional quality. The experience we had was absolutely terrible! We DO NOT recommend this company. We've spent over $50,000 and still have an incomplete kitchen. We told Dan at Caledon Renovations, from the very beginning, that we needed the renovation completed as quickly as possible to sell and relocate for work. Dan told us that he could complete the work in 4 weeks. On June 3rd, 2024, demolition began on our whole main floor. Once demolition was complete, no one showed up for 2 weeks. We were constantly told there were issues sourcing product, finally, when he showed up with the floor tile, it was not what we had picked but decided to continue anyway to speed up the renovation. It is now August 7th and it still not done. There were several quality issues that were addressed several times and Dan offered to come back to fix these issues for a 3rd time - we declined. The final straw was when we had a subcontractor show up at our house demanding money or he would place a lean on our house. After speaking to this gentleman, we found out that Dan had not paid him and said it was because we owed money - we were paid up to date. When we told Dan we do not want to work with him because of the trouble he has caused, he offered a refund of $1200 for upper kitchen cabinet doors. Even though we were not satisfied with the refund amount, we agreed. We told him to pick up his sign from our home and give us the refund. That was 6 days ago and we've heard nothing from him. Dealing with North Shield Windows and Doors was an excellent experience, from our first phone call to request a quote to the successful completion of the job. Jason the sales rep was friendly, listened to our needs and there was no pressure to upsell. The resulting quote was within our price point. We had read all the outstanding HomeStars reviews, so we went with just this one quote. The installers were professional and courteous. They laid drop cloths inside the house and each work area was cleaned up well after each installation. Outside all the demolition debris was cleaned up and removed. All 8 new single slider windows and the new sliding patio door were installed in a day despite less than favourable weather conditions (snow showers and very gusty winds). North Shield was always on time when they said they would be at our home. Their Customer Responsiveness was excellent. We are pleased with our new windows and patio door. I had a new glass shower installed a few years ago. The 10ft (6 inch wide) panel that connects to the door, came loose. Turned out the previous installation was done wrong. Limar came by to inspect. Showed me the problem. Required a new panel with proper hardware. Was able to re-purpose some components. Paid my deposit for the panel. They came and did a nice clean install job. Would def recommend. Great people skills and organized. Did not try to upsell me on anything like some of the others I had come price the job. One too many times, you get contractors that you wished you hadn't welcomed into your home. Definitely not the case with Sal's Renovations. I hired Vish & his team to install an egress walkout door in my bsmt. In addition his team removed the stairs rebuilt the structure and also installed an egress window. Everything start to finish was fantastic. You get all the information you need from Vish he is very thorough; and he doesn't overload you with unnecessary information but is always happy & willing to answer any questions. I am legalizing my bsmt apt; I hired Vish to complete the exterior work but actually wished I had hired him for the full job because it would likely be completed by now. Vish even offered to come back after my renovation is complete to epoxy paint the exterior entrance way. I will update this review with photos after the everything is complete.
