I needed some work done to update the basement and some room upstairs. I found it difficult to find a reliable good working contractor that would not leave me in a lurch. I found Ben the Builder. I was pleasantly surprised with his work and work ethic. He listen to what I needed and delivered all at a reasonable price. He called when he knew he would not be able to work. He also provided regular updates as to progress or called if there were any questions or concerns. Good all around jack of all trades.

When I contacted Chris a few weeks ago regarding a repair for the storm door at my parents house it was because I remembered that he had repaired the screen in the storm door at our house a number of years ago and had done a great job. One of the clips that enables the movable window within the door to slide up and down had broken. At first, I had called a few companies listed online under screen door repairs, but almost none of them would come out for such a small job and the rest were quoting ridiculous prices. When I called and left a message for Chris, his son and business partner Hayes responded within minutes. I texted him a photo of the door, described the problem and he texted me right back with an appointment for the next day and a very reasonable price for the job. He and Chris attended at my parents house on time and did a terrific job repairing their storm door. Based on this experience, I called Chris again about the storm door at our own house. I had been putting off replacing it due to the cost and difficulty finding a company that would replace a single storm door. (They all want larger jobs involving multiple windows and door replacement). Replacement seemed the only way to go because there were so many things wrong: it was misaligned so there were gaps at the bottom and top where insects were getting in, the pneumatic closing mechanism as well as the lock were broken, and the screen was not staying in place. I texted Chris photos of the problems and he immediately responded that he could take care of it, and the price quoted was significantly lower than the replacement cost. Chris and Hayes attended at our house exactly when they said they would, kept the work area tidy, and did a fantastic job- the door is as good as new! I am very pleased to recommend Chris Screening and Glass- they are friendly, professional, communicate promptly, and do top notch work.

I recently hired Don River Carpentry to build a custom wall unit in my living room and to renovate my gas fireplace. The wall unit was a unique design I had seen in Arizona, built using a wood frame finished with drywall rather than traditional cabinetry. The fireplace was the original one installed when the house was built 18 years ago, so it was due for an update. This was the first time I had hired a contractor for this type of work, as I usually do renovation projects myself. Naturally, I was cautious because you often hear horror stories about contractors. Fortunately, working with Ardit from Don River Carpentry was an excellent experience. Ardit was extremely meticulous with his workmanship and very respectful of my home, taking the same level of care I would expect if I were doing the work myself. He was punctual, trustworthy, and always delivered on what he promised. The quality of the work was excellent and the pricing was very fair. I would highly recommend this company.

Jerry and Kyle who did the actual work were awesome. They were meticulous, very communicative and professional. We are very pleased with the end result. However getting to the result was somewhat painful as the composite materials required for the deck took an unreasonably long time to be available so the job could be completed.
