“To win a Best of Award is a testament to a contractor’s quality of work,” says Nancy Peterson, Founder and CEO of HomeStars. “We like to think of them as our own People’s Choice Awards since they are based on the reviews written by homeowners.” There is a comprehensive process for validating reviews and winners are selected based on several criteria including homeowner reviews and contractor responsiveness.

According to Peterson, “We awarded companies that supported their chosen charities with more than just a cash donation, by also donating their time, creativity and grass-roots involvement. Many donated materials and labour to worthy charities.”  Here is a list of the 78 Giving Back Award winners, who truly embrace the ‘pay it forward’ concept.
