I hired Shawn to fix major issues with my walkout balcony—a sagging dormer roof, rotted posts and underneath structure and flat roof pooling. He quoted a 2-day job with 50% upfront. Work dragged on for over a month with poor communication and slow progress. Key contract items weren’t completed or done improperly. He didn’t jack up the roof enough to fix the eaves slope, did not reslope flat roof, didn’t remove the old membrane and instead installed the new one over the old one. The membrane ends abruptly near the threshold, with visible old material and substrate along the edge, and several other things can't fit in this review. When I raised concerns, he said “wait until I’m done.” On May 13, he claimed the job was done and demanded the rest of the payment. When I refused due to unfinished work, he threatened to lien my property and destroy the work done. He also said “You’re asking for a Rolls Royce for your budget.” when he's the one who wrote the contract. I simply agreed and paid.

Flip Contractors, Michael and his crew were very professional. They were also personable, pleasant, timely and so very helpful. They obviously take great pride in their work. You can tell by the finished product. They were very respectful of our budget and you will find Michael very helpful with ideas and suggestions. They built a deck for us this past summer and did such an excellent job we didnt hesitate in having them back to finish our basement. We bought a home that needed significant work in order to fit our entire family comfortably and we wanted to turn the basement into a rentable apartment. We had never owned a home before and knew nothing about the type of work that was needed, nor did we know the regulations. VIP walked us through it all and made the whole process as painless as possible. They renovated a bathroom on the top floor. Added an en-suite bathroom to our master bedroom. Did the flooring, custom made stairs out of the flooring we chose, glass panes and oak bannisters. They took down the walls on the first floor creating a large open concept kitchen/dining room and living room area. They increased the windows and replaced one window with an exit from the dining room onto a deck in the back yard. They added a discreet powder room on the first floor and another one on the split level just below along with a hidden pocket door closet for the washer and dryer. They made an entire basement apartment, with a beautiful bright kitchen, a luxurious bathroom and bedroom. They installed larger windows to add more light, installed potlights and a separate exit. We could not be more pleased with their work. We have now rented out our inspected and approved basement apartment which they have designed in a way that it is completely independent of the rest of our home and feels like an entirely different property. All in all they renovated our entire home and turned our three bedroom, two bathroom, one powder room house into a spacious 5 bedroom, 3 full bathroom and 2 powder room home. The time they spent walking us through the process and being patient with us as we figured out what exactly we wanted, sometimes on the fly my family will always appreciate. The price they gave us was in line with what other companies charged but the care they showed when dealing with us and their attention to detail makes them worth much more. As you can tell my entire family likes the guys at VIP a lot and their work was impeccable. I was referred UNIC by a neighbor who had some eavetroughs replaced. After reading several reviews UNIC was contacted to get a quote. My neighbor and I live in a semi and we wished to have vinyl siding, new facsia and soffits installed. The UNIC rep came to meet with us and was quite pleasant with us. He seemed to be very knowledgeable. A week after our meeting, we received a quote for the work. After pursuing several quotes for comparison and doing some additional research on UNIC, my neighbor and I decided to engage UNIC for the work. We met once again with UNIC rep, decided on colors, and discussed approximate time for the work to begin. The following morning, the UNIC contacted us advising that an error was made in the quote and the total cost for the job had increased by $6000. Not a small amount, almost double the original quote. I understand errors do happen, but a substantial increase in a quote at the time that a decision has been made is a bit troubling. Unfortunately we are now left to swallow the additional cost and start over trying to find another contractor, as winter quickly approaches. When getting quotes from UNIC, exercise caution when making a final decision. You may be left high and dry. Extremely disappointing experience...Latest review:
