Moved into new house this summer. Windows were 17 years old, some with broken mechanisms. Builder quality and was not very efficient. I received 3 formal quotations in total (others from Costco and Home Depot). For the third, I decided to look on HomeStars and had seen Canadian Choice as #1 based on so many reviews. An appointment was made to have them visit me for consultation.
I can tell you that I was completely surprised when my Salesperson Oliver had shown up with window and paint samples. He asked to look at the competitor window brochures and could technically find faults in them compared to the HomeTech windows they install (notable the black seal that is seen around the border of outside window). I did not notice this before, but of course that seal will dry out and crack being exposed to the sun and elements year after year. HomeTech windows have an internal seal and that made complete sense to me to be a superior product.
He also asked what the warranty period was on the other window quotes. 20-25 years seems to be quite standard in the industry, but what isn't standard (which Canadian Choice Windows offers) is an accompanying 25 year labour warranty as well. The other competitors only have 1 year! So if there are any problems, they will supply the parts, but then the labour is extra...No way! 25 years FULL coverage for all my windows in case anything goes wrong from a company rated so highly on HomeStars. Done. All that for no extra cost vs the competitor prices as well (just a bonus). Was a no brainer..
The install went great, top notch guys. I am very particular with technical details and was watching the work and can say I am fully confident in the install quality. Foam sealing was injected all around the windows (we seen some water damage due to bad caulking in previous builder windows). They also laid a huge bead of professional caulking around the exterior window as well as new flashing where needed which matched the window colour (white in my case). Looks really sharp! They also installed some nice interior trim and caulked all the cracks with paintable caulk.
Really love the windows, you can tell they are very good quality and can tell a significant difference of the interior glass temperature while it starts to get cold her in Toronto now.
Overall, so happy I went with Canadian Choice. They are always reachable, top notch windows and installers and special thanks to Oliver for making the whole experience not be stressful with his trusting and easygoing personality. He knows his stuff so much so that I will have them replace some doors soon.
Best Regards,
Shawn
