    Lawn Care

I subscribed to Lawnsavers for service in 2012 based on reviews on this site. They did an OK job, although some applications were not as timely as I would have liked. At the end of the year when they asked for feedback, I indicated that I did not want the service for the following year. Howevern now in 2013, they fertilized my lawn and are now looking for payment for a service that I did not want. The company did get back to me to resolve my complaint which I appreciate and says a lot about them. I would have prefered a resolution the first time that I called. I did not fully read the contract and was honestly unaware of the auto renewal at the time. Companies are great when things go right, the test is what happens when things go wrong, and in this case they addressed my concerns so I would recommend them going forward. I still dislike auto renewals though.

Hi Anthony, I am very sorry you feel there was a miscommunication. We make every effort to be completely transparent about the terms of our service starting from the very first contact. Lawns are a living breathing 'forest' of turfgrass plants that are a tremendous benefit to the environment. They require constant and continuous care through each and every growing season. Here are the efforts we made: 1. When you first signed up with us, we advised on the phone that the service continues each season. 2. In addition, we sent you a Confirmation of Service Agreement that outlined our terms and conditions when you signed up. 3. Furthermore, we advise and remind in bold writing on each service report throughout the season that "service continues each season to ensure proper plant health care, please call our office to change or stop service". This is located right where the special instructions for you to follow on each visit are written. 4. In addition, we send 2 prepayment offers in the off-season through first class (returnable) mail, that re-iterated service begins again in April and to call if you wanted to stop the service, to please call us. 5. The envelopes we send your letter to you in, have bold writing on the outside with the same service statement (just in case you decided not to open it). 6. We called before the season started on 03/30/2013 7:32PM with a recorded message reiterating service was about to begin in the next 2 weeks and to call us if you wanted to change your service- our system verifies this call was answered by a live person at your house at that time. 7. We called ahead the day before we started service 04/17/2013 11:33 AM and left a message on your machine that we would be out the next day. Unfortunately we didn't hear back from you until after the service was done on the 18th. We make every effort to inform and communicate with our customers including recording every call in and out of our office in order to prevent this type of occurrence. I hope you can appreciate that we do NOT want to service someone's home who does not want us there. The vast majority of our customers do understand that lawn care is necessary each year, and in the vast majority of cases, those who wish to discontinue, advise us ahead of time. Furthermore, if someone does not want service to continue each year, for your convenience we will mark your account accordingly and ensure we contact you personally before service continues to avoid any unwanted service. Again, I am sorry you feel the way you do, but I hope you understand the tremendous effort we have made to ensure you are informed. I understand our Sales Manager has spoken with you and you have come to a positive and satisfactory resolution.

    Protector Package

It is unfortunate that I have to be seemingly the only person with very poor experience dealing withe LawnSavers. The Customer Service people are very well trained, and did respond to my questions. However, the information on the scope of the services included in the package I paid for was so general and vague, I soon found myself about to spend close to $2000 in extra "recommended" services just to revitalize our little patch of grass!!! This was disappointing as I sent them pictures and descriptions of the state of the lawn before signing up, and was assured that the package was going to take care of the problems. After a few lawn treatments, absolutely no results were seen and I had to place frequent calls to LawnSavers, asking for clarification and soon the repetitive "it's a process and it will require several seasons to see results" became their answer of choice. After they missed one of the treatments but still charged us for it, I decided to call it quits. I since hired another company and I can see excellent results after only one visit. Very disappointing experience.

    Lawn rescue

We hired LawnSavers not because of their good reviews, but because of their responses to any bad reviews. They seemed prepared to fix things when they went wrong. So far, we've been totally impressed with their knowledge and care of our lawn as well as their customer service. Our jungle now looks like a backyard.

    Answer from pro:

    Lawn Care and Irrigation Maintenance

Sharon Rutherford from Pickering, Ont Over the years we have used a number of different lawn care companies, but in 2010 when looking for company to install an irrigation system we were lucky enough to have found LawnSavers. Kyle came out to give us a quote and after talking to him and learning more about his company; we got him to quote on both installing an irrigation system and a full lawn care package. Although Kyle did not have the lowest quote, he did have a more comprehensive lawn care package, as well as a top notch irrigation system. So we went with LawnSavers and have been their customer ever since. Last year was one of the worst summers for high temperatures and very little rain. So even with our irrigation system running, we did have some issues with our back lawn. But a call to the LawnSaver team got us a quick response and the issue was resolved in no time. The problem was partly do to the fact that I had reprogrammed the irrigation system myself, and the back lawn was not getting watered for a long enough period of time. I now leave the system to the people that know what they’re doing. We highly recommend LawnSavers for all your lawn care needs. They are knowledgeable and pleasant to deal with. If you want to have the best looking lawn in your neighbourhood, go with the dedicated folks at LawnSavers. You won’t be disappointed.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks for the very considerate review...and thanks for resisting the temptation to reprogram the controller ;) When comparing Apples to Apples we promise the best value in the Green Business!

    Lawn Restoration

Lawn was damaged last year. Probably by Cinch Bugs. LawnSavers recommended their Protector package combined with top dressing and power seeding, and provided instructions for preparation and watering. Lawn is magnificently restored and on par with the neighborhood in less than 8 weeks. What I like best about LawnSavers is that they take the time to look at my photos, and provide comments and advise on lawncare and weed control.

    Answer from pro:

Thank you so much for the great review. And thanks for sticking with the plan. To set the record straight, the work we did all last year is what allowed the restoration to work so well. It takes time to get a sick or tired lawn turned around, but once our plan has the required time to take effect, we can achieve great results together!

    Full Lawn Care Service

It is perhaps too early for me to leave an accurate star rating for now as I have just been working with LawnSavers for a bit over a month. I am writing this review as an in-progress report of work done to date. But I can say Stephanie Eusler's customer service is second to none! She answers all my emails and took appropriate actions to make sure I receive the best work possible from LawnSavers. Via email, their friendly staff would handhold me how and when I should perform duty on my side like watering and overseeding. The company is honest from the start and did not pressure me to commit. They did not use tactics like "the early bird special would expire tomorrow!". They gave me ample time to think about it. For some extra work they agreed to do, they were happy to put it in writing for me. I have a really good feeling this is the company I can trust. My overall star rating 4 out of 5 (or 8 out of 10) is based on: Customer Service: 5 out of 5 (or 10 out of 10) Actual Work or Results: 3.5 out of 5 (or 7 out of 10) Note: not that the work is of low quality but because I can't give an assessment so early in the season. I will give more updates (probably in a followup review) as it unfolds. So far aeration was done well and weed killing seems to be working and hope it lasts! To be fair, I have to mention that my lawn started full of weed from the start and I have tried to save it myself for a couple of years in vain! So hopefully Lawnsavers will live up to her name :) July 8, 2013 updates: After the weed spray, Neil from Lawn Savers called me proactively to see how the lawn had progressed. While I was still waiting to see the results, Neil had already scheduled another spray for me as the weed in my lawn was bad to start with. Very good customer service indeed. So far after 2 sprays, Dandelion has reduced by 50% in the front lawn and by 70% in the backyard. (The higher the % number, the less the weed) Though I have noticed that the front lawn also has some problem with Burclover and the backyard problems with both Burclover and Oxalis. I have to be fair and say that my lawn is a very bad lawn to start with and this is the first year I am trying to save it. Revised rating: My overall star rating 4 out of 5 (or 8 out of 10) is based on: Customer Service: 5 out of 5 (or 10 out of 10) Actual Work 4.0 out of 5 (or 8 out of 10) Actual Results 3.7 out of 5 (or 7.4 out of 10) Although the results is 3.7/5 right now, I have to be fair to LawnSavers. Their customer service is the best I have known of and they seem very concerned about the success of my Lawn. At the same time I feel that they have tried their best to work on my lawn and gave me lots of hand holdings as what I should do on my side to further improve the results. Thanks LawnSavers! Easy things like mowing to 3 inches everything 5-7 days and watering frequently with deep watering once a week. Also I can do over-seeding myself to saving money. I still have 4 more service visits for the season to combat the weeds, so I am hopeful I will see much better results. July 18, 2013 updates: The Result is much clear now! We are excited! After the third weed spray, Dandelion in both the front and back yard has almost gone and even my wife has told me our lawn hasn't looked that good for years after the city banned the chemical. Burclover and Oxalis are still present in both lawns, however. Revised rating: My overall star rating 4.25 out of 5 (or 8.5 out of 10) is based on: Customer Service: 5 out of 5 (or 10 out of 10) Actual Work 4.25 out of 5 (or 8.5 out of 10) Actual Results 4 out of 5 (or 8 out of 10) Note the Homestars rating system doesn't have the granularity for me to give a 8.5 rating so I left it at 8, as I am a hard marker LOL! Sept 13, 2013 updates: Dandelion population has definitely been controlled though burclover, clover and oxalis remained intact and they need hand removal. I guess that is the nature of the organic weed spray. The lawn is thickening and we haven't seen this for at least 5-6 years now, thanks to Lawnsavers' tips on overseeding and watering. Now the lawn looks almost as new except for a small population of the fore-mentioned weeds. We r vy glad nevertheless. I must stress that Lawnsavers' commitments has been strong and consistent. A few weeks ago when they came for the weed spray and it wasn't effective because of rain or maybe other reasons. Just a quick call to them resolved the problem. They gladly came over and sprayed it again without charge. After that, the Dandelion did dry up and died. There is no question on Lawnsavers' customer service, care and honesty. I know they have done the best they can given the technology and government regulation limits. I highly recommend them as a company. Revised rating: My overall star rating 4.5 out of 5 (or 9 out of 10) is based on: Customer Service: 5 out of 5 (or 10 out of 10) Actual Work 4.5 out of 5 (or 9 out of 10) Actual Results 4 out of 5 (or 8 out of 10)

    Answer from pro:

Thank you sir for the update. Yes it i a little early since plants need to grow and turf needs time to thicken and crowd out weeds. The weed control process also takes time. What you see now will likely grow back, and new weeed scan grown as seed sblow in but that is part of the process. Most weeds take 2-4 application before they die, and we wont make promise that we cant keep. If we partner together, WE WILL WIN the war on weeds! Right now, the best thing you can do is to make sure you mow and bag the clippings 2x a week, water deeply once per week until the weeds are under control and the lawn thickens. By next season we should be well on our way to a thick green and sustainable lawn. In the meanwhile, please let us know if anything changes, or seems problematic- we will be delighted to assist you and make it right- Guaranteed!
