    Water Leak

I had a water leak behind my wall. It wasn't leaking a lot but over time it was causing problems. I found Priority Plumbing online and scheduled a service call. Greg came out and figured out where the leak was. He was able to fix it and I am appreciative.

toilet replacement, taps/faucet replacement, kitchen faucet repair, 3 sets of new shut-offs

I've been putting off getting a bunch of repairs done, but finally called Priority (referred by a friend) and asked if they could come the following day. Kostis was great: arrived on time, explained all the problems, gave me several options, worked quickly, walked me through all the new things, and left the place spotless. I think Priority is a first-rate operation, and I'd definitely refer others to them.

    Replacing Fixtures

The gentlemen from Priority Plumbing were polite, clean, and thorough. They provided me with detailed explanations of each need prior to commencing work so that I could make an informed choice at each stage.

    Hot water tank repair

We called Priority Plumbing to fix our hot water tank. We weren't getting hot water, more like luke warm and then cold water. When they came to the house the worker was polite and said our dip tube needed repair. He quoted~$400 for the dip tube and other quotes for replacement tanks with and without membership. We had never dealt with fixing a hot water tank and were in desperate need of hot water so we agreed with just the replacement of the dip tube. They required a 30% deposit plus the $50 inspection fee. There was no negotiating for the deposit. The next day when the worker came it took him 35 min to replace the dip tube with a bill that ended up being $570!!!!! When I called the main office to see if they could break down the price for me, they explained that they couldn't and that it was a fixed price that the head office gives them. The person I spoke to explained that it was an average price of how much it would cost for any job of that kind.irregardless of the time it takes to fix. With however many years of experience, that's the price that they came up with taking into consideration labour and supplies. That was the only excuse they could give me. Are you kidding me?? I'm pretty sure there's no plumbing company out there that would charge $570 for 35 min of work and a 50cm pipe. I will never use Priority Plumbing again and will definitely tell EVERYONE I know of the service and ridiculously outrageous pricing that they charge. I can't believe they can charge these prices and somehow feel that it's justified.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Rebecca, We quoted you the price before we started the job so you should not have been surprised when we completed the job, and there are no excuses necessary to make. Please take into consideration our time to diagnose the water heater, drive and pickup the parts, come back and perform the repair, it adds up 4 hours of work, not 35 minutes. The $570 dollars included $66 in taxes which we have no control over, and $49 for the service call that was explained to you over the phone before we dispatched our technician. I dont think that $400 for four hours of work including the parts is outrageous. It is important to note that we did solve your problem perfectly according to the price we quoted you. We are pleased to have provided you with competent, fast, quality work, with a written guarantee at the promised price. Thank you for being a valued customer. - The Priority Team .

Removed old bathroom vanity, installed separate off/on valves; installed new kitchen faucet & hose & off/on valves

Competent, informative, efficient plumber. Exact dollar quote given before work started so there were no surprises. Because the prep work was done so well, I was able to install the new bathroom vanity and faucet myself: something I had always shied away from in the past. All the work has held up without fail for eight months.

    Hot Water Heater Installation

They cancelled the initial appointment but promised a $20 discount on the rescheduled appointment. Not only did I not get the $20 discount but the quote I got was outrageous. Edit (after response): Just to clarify, you did offer a $20 discount towards the potential installation, not towards the estimate, which is what was promised over the phone. As for your prices, $2,600 for a hot water tank, for which you had no details such as brand or energy efficiency, and its installation is outrageous. I purchased the best water heater from Rona and had them install it for over $1000 less. Finally, the only reason you are rated high, is that you provide gift certificates to people that do so, which is deceiving customers.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Kape, Sometimes we put emergency customers ahead of others similar to a doctor seeing a dying patient before a patient with a cold. We did issue you the credit and are sorry you still chose to carefully choose your words and imply that we didn't. With regards to our Prices, they are 100% fair and our workmanship is top quality. As you can see, we have never had complaints about our workmanship. In addition, Rona will have you wait 40 minutes on the phone, and 3-4 days for the repair. I would hate to shower in freezing cold water for 4 days straight!. I hope that never happens to you. If it does, we answer the phone right away and offer same day service! Thank you - the Priority Team.

    midsized job

I'd rather not go through all the details, but this company failed us on every count. I'd never recommend them or call them again. Other companies served us so much better.

    Answer from pro:

We told you we would be there between 11 and 2 today. We arrived at around 1 pm, and you were upset because we didn't arrive at 11. We provided you a window of arrival, not a specific times because we are on other calls. We always call and let our clients know when we were on the way so they don't have to stay home and wait around. You can run errands and get a 1/2 hour lead time to meet us. We did maintain our scheduled appointment window as promised, I am sorry that you were hoping that we would get there right at 11 Am, however we never promised you this. - Sorry - The Priority Team.

    Garburator Repair

Contacted these guys through samedayplumbing.ca to fix two broken waste disposal units (garburator) - follow up over the phone was professional but quote when the tech came to the house was crazy. Told me that we need to replace both (which is what I expected) but wanted to charge more than $2000 (units cost $500 combined at home depot - rest is labour). When I asked how long it would take, he said an hour - which means for travel and 1 hour of time was $1500. I don't mind paying a premium but when someone is taking advantage of you, based on the size of your house, trusting personality or other reason then I have a problem. When I commented about the price the response was "that's the price of being in business" which is a good reason why you should not do business with companies like this. Response to Company: We were quoted $750 and $1250 which is $2000 + HST. The units are the same that are sold by HomeDepot - they carry the full line of residential units - we purchased the same units you quoted with install from home depot for $1000 Including HST. Home depot contractors are insured and licensed to install the units. This is just a case where competition is forcing you to have prices that the market expects - we know how much the units cost and we know what the labour cost.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Richard, We quoted you $750 to replace a garbage disposal. That is $1500 for two. The cost of the disposals that we quoted to you are $980, not $500. We quoted you for 1 Horse Power units, they sold you 1/3 horse power units. The difference in quality is huge. You should compare apples with apples before you comment on our company. In addition to this, you had to drive to the store, wait in line to pay and to arrange installation. Then you have to wait 1 week minimum for a Home Depot Installation. If there is ever a problem, you will wait a week for service. We do not take advantage of people. We are an honest and ethical company. Thank you - The Priority Team.
