    Exterior tuckpointing

We recently replaced our back deck, and when the old deck came down we noticed some small areas that needed re-tuckpointing. We had some previous tuckpointing work done by A & A Masonry and were very pleased with their work so I called them again to come and provide us an estimate. Our timeline was tight as the new deck was rapidly going in and the repair area would have been hidden by the new deck. A & A provide a prompt estimate and when we gave them the go ahead for the work, they were able to squeeze us in and get the work done to fit our timeline. I highly recommend A & A Masonry and would not hesitate in calling them again if the need arises. Prompt, professional, tidy and experienced in what they do!

    Front Steps and exterior Parging

I had A&A masonry replace existing interlock steps with concrete as well as repair of exterior parging along the garage and side of house. After removing the steps we discovered water damage along a foundation wall. Was a pleasure working with them as they repaired the damage and completed the steps and parging work. They were prompt and helpful every step of the way. Workmanship was top notch and service was exemplary.

Thanks! Sometimes we get some nasty surprises when we open up a foundation, so I'm glad this went smoothly. --Andy

    concrete windowsills replacement

Several of our concrete windowsills were cracking and pieces were falling off. A&A Masonry replaced three windowsills and tuck pointed the other smaller ones. Needless to say, we were entirely satisfied with the work performed by Joe and Kyle. They worked tirelessly and professionally from beginning to end. They were also very pleasant, polite and answered all our questions to our satisfaction. Based on our experience, We absolutely recommend A&A Masonry; they are definitely a ten star company!

Thanks Tom! Joe did the very first job for A&A, and he and Kyle are total pros. --Andy

Exterior restoration on an older home

The bidding process: very professional and courteous The promise: your home will look brand new The negotiations: cost conscious and transparent The demolition: much care taken to ensure no damage to structure The re-bricking: quick and neat. Much appreciated by my neighbors The parging: best water proof material used The banas stone steps: great looks, more room on landing The limestone sills: enhances the Tudor style with modernity The crew: so quick and precise. Done in 3 weeks as promised The transformation: see after / before pictures Next step: A pity A&A does not do siding but it appears that my siding contractor is also doing a good jobs

    Outdoor Waterproofing

Hired them based on their reviews and overall they did a very good job. They came in and saw the water on the floor beside my cold room and recommended I need to get waterproofing outside of where my stairs were. Quoted me 7k for the job so I agreed. When they came to do the job they said they had to knock out the stairs in the front because they did not realize the foundation started where my stairs were. They've been doing these jobs for years and they didn't know that from the start? So now I have no choice, they've already started digging so I agree and it's going to cost another 12k. Again overall the waterproofing and the masonry work they did on the stairs was well done. After about a week once everything was done, Home stars has been great and has allowed me to find some of the best companies I have worked with! My only suggestion for people is to get multiple quotes. Don't just go with the first company you see because they have high ratings. Always get multiple opinions and quotes and do your due diligence!

    Re-bricking and concrete pouring

Hired A&A because of how highly rated they were here on HomeStars. We were having brick work done on the front of the house and a new concrete slab poured in the basement and the new mud room. Before we signed off on the project we explained that we needed the concrete slab poured in two parts. Once for the basement itself so that we could proceed with installing the furnace etc, and one more time. No problem. When it came time to pour the slab, they refused to come and pour the first part of the slab, stating that it costs extra to have the truck come out twice and to let them know when the mud room was done so they could do it in one shot. This delayed several other trades by 3 weeks. When finally we called for the pour the second time, A&A came out and said they couldn't pour the whole thing in one go because of "existing site conditions", and had to come back another day to pour the mud room. On many occasions the workers simply didn't show up, we were never notified nor had any explanation provided. Our GC had to chase them to make sure they were going to finish the work and actually show up. The only reason they get one star is because the quality of the brick work was quite good. Over all it was a frustrating experience that caused us a lot of delays. Once we signed the contract and paid the deposit, they came back trying to change the terms and the price of the job. Definitely felt like they didn't need our business even though our project was quite large and cost over 60k. To this day we've been trying to get them to come back and fix a couple of issues. But once you're paid in full don't expect even a phone call back. UPDATE: A&A has contacted me and came over to see the issues that need to be fixed. So I'm increasing their rating based on their follow up. UPDATE #2: A&A has come and fixed the outstanding issues. +1 start for each issue resolved, and +1 star for Dominic being awesome. UPDATE: A&A has come back to fix one more minor issue with the front window lintels. +1 start and Dominic's awesomeness has earned them yet another star... A super star.

    Interior waterproofing, sum pump, concrete

A bit pricey but we are very satisfied with this company. We had water issues for the past twenty years and finally Colm, who did the waterproofing, did a fantastic job of fixing the problem! He was not only professional and courteous but he showed us, in detail, step by step progress of the work and answered all our questions. We are extremely satisfied with his work. If anyone needs waterproofing ask for Colm. We would use A&A Masonry again and we highly recommend this company.

    Waterproofing

Very satisfied with this company, Steve came out to give us an estimate for the job that needed to be done and workers were there the next week. Colm who did the waterproofing was very professional and pleasant , we were impressed with his great attention to detail he worked hard to get job done to our satisfaction and in a timely manner, he would always come and show us step by step what he was doing and explain it in detail. We are very happy with his work and would recommend A & A to anyone who wants the job done right.

    Tuck pointing-New mortar

From start to finish, it was a real pleasure to deal with Ray for the quote and Joe and Kyle for workmanship. Ray answered all our questions patiently and Joe and Kyle were equally as nice, giving us all details on the bricks of our 112 years old house, finding very similar bricks for replacement and doing a fantastic job ! I would highly recommend this company!

    Helical Piles / Foundation Repair

Back of house developed cracks due to water getting in between the bricks. Damage was so bad that the top of the house looked like it was shifting away from the bottom of the house. A&A Masonry sent a rep who acted as the project manager and oversaw the project from start to finish. No project is without its hiccups but A&A stood behind their word and in the end, repaired the house on time and somewhat on budget. PROS: - They use very experienced companies to do different steps of the project - the project damaged our lawn and the Company re-sodded the grass at no additional expense to us - Company was willing to come back and do any minor adjustments that may be needed. CONS: - They use a generic contract that does always meet the needs of the customer (so amend it if you need to) - they were one of the higher quotes we received - the rep they sent had more of a sales background than project management background so there were some discrepancies between the initial quote and the final agreed upon price. Overall, I would recommend A&A Masonry for any of your cement, foundation, brick or repair needs.
