    rebuild chimney

Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to rate A & A Masonry with a 10 out of 10. However, true to his word, Andy sent over another crew (Joe and James) to take down the old chimney and rebuild another new one at no cost to me. The chimney looks exceptional - an absolute 10. James and Joe are first rate advocates for their profession and for A & A Masonry and I would recommend them in a heart beat. Thanks for taking care of this problem Andy! You have restored my faith in Homestars as well.

    Dismantled stone wall

I had a 30 ft. long stone block wall running along the rear of my corner property that had been a bone of contention from day one. In order to appease a previous neighbour, it was built 10 1/2 inches inside my property line. This included a 6 inch Right of Way to be used only for access to their home. Much to my dismay, the latest neighbour claimed the 10 1/2 inches was now their property due to Adverse Possession (Squatter's Rights). No amount of reasoning could convince them that this wasn't true. I decided I would remove the wall and replace it with a fence 4 1/2 inches further over, leaving them with the use of the 6 inch Right of Way. As I have done several times in the past, I went to Homestars to find a a reputable stonemason and fence builder. I called A&A as their reviews were truly impressive and soon had an appointment with Brad. I was immediately impressed with his empathy for my problem, as well as his knowledge and courtesy. When I told him I had already spent a great deal of money on lawyer's fees and a new survey without much success, he offered to verify my legal rights and did so by speaking to the Police and two surveyors on my behalf. As soon as he had confirmation of the legality of my plan, the wall was removed In one day, and Brad had it dismantled and neatly stacked onto the bed of an A&A truck. He then erected a snow fence along the open space until a fence could be erected as he knew I was concerned about the neighbour's reaction. Much to my relief and delight, Brad was also able to recommend an excellent fence builder and a truly impressive fence now sits at the rear of my property. Thanks to Brad and A&A, peace has now been restored to my little corner of the world. I very enthusiastically recommend A&A and their outstanding service and would give them even more than a 10 rating if I could.

    Chimney projects

A&A were awesome to deal with! They were one of the first Masonry companies to call back, the first ones to come to the house, the best quote for work and they could do it within less than a week notice! We were getting our roof done at the same time and they managed to take down a full chimney and rebuild the one we actually used before the roofers started. What a great company! Wish they did more so I could higher them for all the house work that needs to be done :)

Brick replacement, tuck pointing, new window sill

A&A were great. They showed up on time, did clean, efficient work and came back to take care of a bit I was concerned about. They replaced my chimney, replaced a bunch of old cracked bricks, a window lintel, and some tuck pointing. Great service!

    Front brick facade replacement

We have a 130 year old home in a heritage area of toronto - cabbagetown. The bricks on the front facade were sandblasted and were now porous and cracked. We needed to preserve the good bricks and keystones and replace the broken/porous ones ( approx 90% replaced). Mike and Liam from A+A took the time and care to ensure that similiar heritage bricks were used, and they alternated brick colours to recreate a similiar look to the previous brick. Additionally, as an older house - its no longer ( if it ever was) truly level. Mike masterfully ensured that this deviation was hidden. We were lucky to have Mike, a true master mason, take the time and care required to restore our home. We definately would recommend A+A and especially Mike and Liam.

Thanks Jamie! Mike & Liam are a new addition to our team, and they are definitely keepers. I have passed this on to them and they (and I) really appreciate your feedback. --Andy

    Chimney Repair

We realized that we had a problem when a bird flew into our fireplace even though we have a cage on top of the chimney. From the ground I could see that the top layer of bricks had shifted and heaved.I called a couple of masonry companies one did not reply at all and one left a message saying they would get back to me and after some days of phone tag I gave up on them.I called A&A based on some Homestar reviews and the receptionist called me back within an hour or two.She arranged for someone to call me and come and have a look. This was on a Friday.John Mc Cutcheon called me Monday ,came out on Tuesday and e-mailed me a detailed estimate by the end of the day.I agreed to proceed and Andy called me the next day to arrange to do the work the next Monday as the weather was going to be favourable. The guys arrived after I had left for work and were cleaning up and loading the truck when I got home. They rebuilt my 25 year old chimney from the roofline up to above the roof peak adding two feet to the original height to meet code and topped it with a concrete cap (which if installed originaly would have prevented a lot of the weather damage)They managed to match the old brick very closley.Unless you knew the work had been done you would not be able to see the slight shading difference of the new brick.I was very pleased with their efficiency and the clean no mess job.We were happy to get this work done before the winter sets in.I would use A&A again and would recommend them to my friends and neighbours. Rebuild chimney

After lots of research i chose A&A. I rarely feel compelled to write reviews but this company is exceptional. They are professional, thorough and reliable. Michael and Liam were not just excellent on the job but so personable and knowledgeable. They even noticed a hole on my garage roof and laid shingles to fix it, which was not part of the job! I would highly recommend them for anyone looking for a company they can trust.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks David! Mike & Liam are a new addition to our team, and we are very happy to get this kind of feedback on their work and service. They have definitely taken our company philosophy to heart. --Andy

    Chimney rebuild

Found this company on Homestars.ca. I was moving into a new home and knew I needed to replace the chimney. Andy gave me a realistic general expectation of costs even before seeing the chimney, and assured me that the crew would be able to come as soon as I had taken ownership. As promised, once I called after moving in, I received an estimate within a day, and they were there to do the work within 2 days of signing the quote. The cost was right in the mid-range of what the home inspector had estimated. The job looks great from my admittedly unprofessional perspective. Highly recommend this team.

Thanks Jeremy. It took us a while to get our company to the point where we can provide almost instant service, but we have arrived! --Andy
