    Chimney Rebuild and brick repair

A&A was not the cheapest estimate I got from the three companies I called, but I got a good gut feeling after speaking with Andy. He was very good at being clear about the timing of the project and when the company would be able to come. I was flexible, but only had to wait a couple of weeks. They were very clean and did not leave any brick debris on our yard or our neighbor's garage despite the homes being only 13 feet apart. The chimney looks perfect and the few bricks that they repaired do too.

    Masonry work

We had a large crack on the outside of our brick house and were afraid a piece of the wall would fall out if we didn't act fast. Brad got back to me quickly and was able to come to the house the next day for an estimate. He did not give us the doom and gloom we were expecting- instead we received a reasonable quote for an efficient fix to our problem. Joe came out a day later to do the work and we were very impressed with how well the new morter matched the original. Definitely recommend this company.

Thanks Chris! I'm proud of our team, and will pass this on to Joe & Brad. --Andy

partial chimney rebuild with liner insert

Partial Chimney rebuild needed (20 courses) as well as some tuck pointing around other parts of house. (during rebuild there were no clay tiles found inside existiing old chimney so we had a liner installed as well as reccommended by home inspector who initially looked at chimney. Good communication with contractor, emails answered promptly. for the estimate, Contractor climbed on roof took pictures of problem areas and showed them to us. bricks used as well as mortar used matched old chimney very well, allowed to pay after entire job was done and chimney was tested, don't know if this is the usual policy, but we appreciated it. Renaldo and crew were very pleasant. Price was comparable or lower than other estimates. Would use again.

    Brick replacement and tuckpointing

We had some bricks that were deteriorating on our 50 year old home and needed to be replaced. Brad came and gave us an estimate and explained the work that had to be done. Joe came, replaced the bricks, did some tuckpointing and we were really pleased with the results. It was so nice having these men explain everything to me before the work was done. We would recommend this company to anyone.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks Barbara! Aside from technical competence, the most important attribute I look for in a staff member is the willingness & ability to communicate. Brad & Joe are good examples of both. --Andy

    Chimney/Damper cap and seal

Brad from A & A was great - I called regarding having my chimney blocked, and he came out the following day to take a look and called me right away to discuss my options. His suggestion was a simple and cost effective one, despite the fact that the solution he was offering was not something A&A could do (too small and simple a job). I greatly appreciated his honesty, prompt reply, and good advice on how to prevent the loss of heat and energy from my home via my chimney, while still maintaining great resale value. Thanks so much Brad, I'll definitely send anyone else I know with larger chimney work your way!

    Answer from pro:

Thanks Jocelyn! Brad is a new addition to our team and we're happy to have him aboard. He's got the traits we look for in our staff -- competence, honesty and friendliness.

    Tuckpointing

A&A was professional from the day when the on-site estimate was given until the work was completed. It was a pleasure to deal with a company that makes communication a priority: every e-mail was answered promptly and every phone call received a prompt response. The mason who did the work was more than pleasant. He welcomed my questions and my input in an effort to make sure the work met my expectations. This is very unusual, in my experience. Our job was relatively small, but A&A's willingness to work according to my narrow timeline, and the high quality of the craftsmanship, made me feel like a valued customer. A&A will be at the top of my list of companies to call the next time I need to do further home improvements.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks Steve! I'll pass this along to Joe (my son) who did your job. He takes pride in his work, as do I, and it's great to get this kind of feedback. --Andy

    Repair to brickwork and chimney

A & A Home Improvements provided me with the lowest quotation for the repairs I needed to my chimney and some deteriorating brick work that had to be replaced. Any concerns I had about the lowest quote meaning there might be a compromise on service or workmanship quickly disappeared in my dealings with A & A. My contact Andy scheduled the work as we had agreed and when his crew showed up to do the work they took the time to explain the job to me and ensure that I understood exactly what would be done, and how long it would take. I highly recommend this company if you are looking for the unusual combination of an excellent price and a job done on time and done well!

    Chimney Rebuild

The things that impressed me about this company were: - the politeness and attentiveness of Andy - the speed with which the work got done - the clean up; other than a gorgeous new chimney, it was as if they were never there!!!! Overall fantastic customer service. I wish more companies were like this.

    Chimney Repair

This is the first time that I didn't have to clean up after hiring a contractor/trade. The chimney repair was very close to a flower garden in our backyard, but due to the care taken by the two men working on our project, nothing was damaged. They came back a few days later, after the mortar had set and completely cleaned the roof and surrounding area. Would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks for the review! One of our staff, Corrine made a great analogy about doing a great job & ending it with a sloppy cleanup. She said it was like a woman getting all dressed up to go out & then smearing her lipstick past her lip lines. Details count! --Andy

    Chimney repair

Our mason went out of his way to work with our tight schedule in spite of the weather. The work that he did was exceptional and the clean up was flawless. Everyone in the company that we dealt with was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend this company.
