Review from HomeOwner Review left on 27 May 2014Rating: 5 out of 5We've used Convertible multiple times in our current house; they installed our tankless water heater (with an unusual venting requirement) and the experience was so pleasant that we had them back again a year later to install our central air unit. Most recently we noticed a gas smell in our utility room and Marnie had someone out the same day to locate the leak (on the original furnace supply line, notably not installed by Convertible) and patch it up right away. What I've found the most refreshing is that of the 4 or 5 workers we've had from Convertible in our house every single one has been not only professional, friendly and prompt, but have gone out of their way to explain the work they've done to someone who knows a fair bit about computers but nothing about furnaces and water heaters. When we move to our new house we know who we'll be calling if we need HVAC services...Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner

Very pleasant transaction, Marnie provided a few options/estimates, answers for all our questions with very competitive prices. Installers crew came (Branden/Josh) in a few days later and did the work in less time than estimated, everything is working great and dealing with this company is an overall great experience, I would recommend them to anyone looking for a new ac/heating system in the GTA area!Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner

We had decided to switch from oil to natural gas to heat and cool our home. We requested 3 estimates, including one from Convertible. Marnie arrived when she said she would. She is very knowledgeable about HVAC systems and rebate programs offered by various levels of government. She was able to provide us with the information we needed to make an informed decision without making a high pressure sales pitch. The estimate to remove all oil equipment and install a high efficiency furnace, air conditioner and hot water tank was very reasonable. All of the work was done very efficiently; one team to remove the old equipment and another to undertake the installation. Both teams made every effort to carry out their work with minimal disruption or damage to our home. All of the work was completed in 2 1/2 days. We would highly recommend Convertible.Review from Marvin Marvin

This company is terrific to deal with. We needed a new furnace and water heater; Marnie showed up as scheduled, did a thorough evaluation of our needs and very clearly laid out our options - without any hint of a hard sales job. The price she quoted was by far (and I mean BY FAR) the best we received, and we agreed on an early installation date. On that date, Adam and his assistant (Andrej??) came on time and immediately got to work. They were polite, efficient and hard-working. Despite their best efforts, they were not able to complete the job on the same day - rain and cold weather prevented them from finishing the necessary work on the outside of the house (concrete sealing around the vent pipes). However, they made sure we had heat and hot water before packing up. They returned three days later as promised, and finished the job. Before leaving - on both occasions - they cleaned up and left the work site (and access to it) spotless. Despite having to work in cramped conditions, and having to make two trips to complete the job, there was no attempt to justify any upward price adjustment - we paid exactly what was agreed to at the outset. It is indeed rare to find a company such as this one, that combines high quality, great service and economical prices. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anybody.Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner

I was recommended this company by a friend after running into lots of shady HVAC technicians and sales people. I called Convertible Air (and spoke to Marnie, who was VERY helpful), I had been screwed over a few times by Sears and was fed up paying to repair the new furnace I got. It came with a 'warranty' however they would only visit once a year. The first time they visited this year is because a part was recalled. I do not believe I should be responsible for it. The furnace stopped working, I made the call and the service technician Raj showed up within a couple of hours (I was shocked and expected to wait days). He was polite and very thorough in explaining what the problem was. He even went out of his way to show the codes that were not met by the original installers. I will be contacting Sears in the future to have them rectify the situation. I am thoroughly impressed with the service provided by this company and will likely use them for future installations of my other properties.Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner

A week ago my wife noticed that the furnace was running, but no warm air was getting pumped out. Upon checking this, found that it definitely was not working properly. Called Convertible Home Services, a technician was able to come the same day. He patiently explained to me that a part that was not functioning properly needed to be replaced. Problem was that between labour and part cost, it would come close to $900. He recommended a newer more efficient furnace for slightly $1000 more, as mine was already 18 years old, and sooner or later some parts were bound to go bust, and my costs would be even more. On the following Monday the service guy came in ( Deiter ), very courteous and punctual. Installed everything properly, cleaned up, ran diagnostic tests, and everything turned out fine. I have purchased an A/C unit from Convertible, and have found the service and advice proffered to me by Marnie and Ken have been very helpful. Thanks again for the great work and service, I will be calling you for all my heating and cooling needs from now on.Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner
Review left on 30 Apr 2014Rating: 1 out of 5AC Installation & Follow Up Repair
I contacted Convertible Heating and Air Conditioning last spring in response to a promotion in the mail. It was nice dealing with Marnie and the rates were indeed competitive. However, upon installation the unit was not able to operate on the Auto setting. We were told that it would be okay for the unit to operate on the “Fan/On” setting, as it helps with circulation. In addition, we were told that since it was under warrantee, a service person from the company could come back to fix what was wrong at no charge (as the installer did not have the necessary tools on hand). We were not followed up by a service person and as I had just had a baby, did not remember to call the company back until receiving an exorbitant energy bill (after that summer). Upon contacting the company, we were informed that it was too cold for a diagnostic and that the work would have to wait until the following spring (before the warrantee expires). We followed up a few weeks ago and a service person diagnosed the problem and returned to complete the repairs. The service guy followed up later that day to say that we unfortunately had to pay after all. There had been a misunderstanding between him and the company and repairs had been done to our furnace circuit board, which that affects the operation of the AC unit. As only the AC was installed by the company the labour would not be covered. After following up with the company, the only explanation I received was “well, someone has to pay” the service person. Although the owner accepted that the misunderstanding was their fault, I was told that our options were to (1) make payment (at a discount) or (2) the service person could return to undo the work that was completed. Topping off this entire situation, we recently received a reminder (in the mail) from the company to extend our service warrantee. All things considered, this experience has been mediocre at best.Answer from pro:
It is this type of review that disappoints me... All of our actions in dealing with this customer were taken with the best of intentions. The only thing we were focused on doing was to resolve the issue. It was only when she found out she actually had to pay for the repair that she became very unreasonable. It's unfortunate.... We made the assumption that there was an issue with the air conditioning system and were going to resolve it under warranty to ensure the customer was satisfied. When we arrived we found a faulty circuit board on the furnace and we replaced it. The furnace was installed by another company a few years ago so the circuit board was under manufacturers' warranty, however, the labour was not under warranty. When the service technician was dispatched he was told the call was under full warranty. Following the repair he called the office to follow up and we realized that it was not a warranty call as the issue was with the furnace. It was at this point that we contacted the customer to explain the situation. The customer was very unreasonable. This is a repair that she would have had to pay for whether it was done by our company or any other company. It quickly became obvious that she was trying to take advantage of the situation in order to get a free repair. She was not even willing to accept our offer of 50% off the repair in order to help her out. The following day I spoke to her husband and explained the situation. Without question he agreed that our offer of 50% off was more than fair. He asked that we send him an invoice and told me he would pay for it. Grant White Service Manager

Chris my sales guy was great at explaining everything and helped me decide which size unit to go with. The service guys were on time, very friendly and walked me through the whole install. Everything was cleaned up and they even fixed the water hose coming from the humidifier that was installed incorrectly from a different company. I will be using these guys again when its time for my furnace upgrade.Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner

My neighbour got a new furnace last year from Convertible, and recommended the company to me when my furnace broke down. Marnie visited my home, explained my options, and made recommendations for my new furnace. The price was right. A few days later, the furnace was installed by a courteous professional crew. I am amazed at how smoothly the whole process went for me with Convertible! I highly recommend them!Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner

Many years ago I had Convertible install a air conditioning and was very happy with the service and the price. A week ago I had my furnace replaced by this company again because of the wonderful customer service and expertise. The manager of the company Marnie is such a wonderful person. She explained to me the efficiency and pros of the different models of furnace and leave all the information for me to decide. I have had a couple of quots from other companies but none of them could beat the price Marnie provided. Why? This is a family business. Marnie is able to cut the price to help the customers to low their cost. As soon as I made a decision, She arranged an installation date at my convenience. The young crew she sent was so professional and polite. They came 10 minutes earlier. When they finished the work, they even picked up the old dust in the basement. The job is well done. You couldn't even believe this was done by a fellow of 30 years old. I will highly recommend this company to anyone I know who needs new furnace, heating and air conditioning. Buying this company's products and service can give you peace of mind. Seeing is believing. Give it a try and you will never regret.
