Installing thin wood veneer on columns requires careful preparation and the use of the right adhesive and clamping method to ensure a smooth, lasting finish. The most critical factor is ensuring consistent, even pressure while the glue sets, which can be achieved with contact cement or PVA glue and creative clamping.

Yes — you can install thin wood veneer on columns, and the process is pretty straightforward once the prep is right.
Basic steps:
(1) Clean & sand the column so the surface is smooth and dust-free.
(2) Cut the veneer into panels that wrap around the column with a small overlap.
(3) Use contact cement or construction adhesive made for veneer — apply to both surfaces.
(4) Carefully press the veneer on, starting at one edge and working around the column. A rubber roller helps eliminate bubbles.
(5) Trim the seams and finish with a light sanding and clear coat if needed.
The trickiest part is keeping everything straight so your column doesn’t end up looking like it dressed itself in the dark. 😄
Done right, it gives a very clean, modern wrap with a real-wood look.
