How to clean your AC machine

To safely clean your air conditioner, it ideally should be done during warmer weather. If it’s something you must do now, have the power to the system shut off at the breaker, take your garden hose and spray the outdoor condenser from the top downward and out the side so that the water exits out the side panels to Push the dirt and debris and leaves to the ground. Do not use a pressure washer. Then go inside and replace your air filter, which is the same filter for your furnace. Then, when it is warmer out, have a licensed technician do a service call to hook up gauges to check refrigerant pressures. A winter cover isn’t necessary per se, unless you happen to have large trees above your air conditioner, then a cover or solid board on top of the unit is enough to prevent debris from falling inside.
