My sump pump was installed 10 years ago. How do I test that it is still working?

Hi there typically if you have a sump pit attached to that pump, you can pour some water in there to activate the pump preferably above the float level for that pump a couple of inches of water should determine whether or not it’s working keep it plugged in when you are attempting it also check if the discharge line is not blocked off from the exterior! I hope this helps

Fill the sump pit until the float activates the pump and it turns on and discharges the water.

Hi
1.power test
First you have to make sure power source is on
Usually if have power tester can make your test easier
2.mechanical test
Floater test is depend of your pump model is different
And pump test at last when you make sure power and floater is fine
You can do with water
Be safe!!
Our recommendation 10 years old sump pump is not trustable better replaced with new one
Thank u

Even if a pump seems to work, a 10-year-old unit is approaching the end of its expected lifespan. Most sump pumps last about 7–10 years depending on use, water load, and maintenance history.
