Hi,
Yes — in most cases there is a price difference between a nickel/chrome shower door and a black-finished shower door.
Here’s why:
• Black hardware is usually more expensive to manufacture and finish than chrome or brushed nickel.
• Many brands charge a premium for matte black finishes because they’re more trendy and in higher demand.
• Black finishes can also cost slightly more for replacement parts and matching accessories.
Typical price difference (material only):
Chrome / Brushed nickel: baseline price
Matte black: +$100 to $300 CAD more, depending on brand, size, and glass thickness
Installation cost:
The labour cost is usually the same for both finishes. The colour does not affect installation time.
Summary:
✔ Yes, black shower doors usually cost more than chrome or nickel
✔ The price difference is mainly for the door itself, not the installation
✔ Labour cost is typically the same for both finishes
To give an exact price difference, the specific door model and size would be needed.

Hi there,
Yes, there is often a price difference between the two coloured finishes.
The black finished door will generally be the more expensive option, simply because this coloured finish has a higher overall cost to manufacture.

Hi,
There is no difference by price between the both when ordering a full shower door encloser, as it is accommodated in the price for various color of hardware.
If type of hardware change, than additional cost might vary.

Yes, there would be a price difference. Nickel and chrome finishes are very easy to produce, so they’re typically less expensive to manufacture. Black finishes, especially matte black, often require extra processing to ensure durability so it would last longer, which is more costly.

Hi,
Yes. Most finishes vary in price, especially considering that some fixtures may only be offered by a singular manufacturer. Contributing to it's higher price. The reasonable alternative would be to try and find some supplier that provides a similar product without the brand name.
