Heating

Circuit breaker trips as soon as I turn on heat/AC using thermostat

Anonymous user 20/03/2026 - 9:24 AM

Hi, I have two thermostats in my condo unit. The 1st issue is with one thermostat that trips the circuit breaker in the electrical panel as soon as I turn on the heat or AC using the thermostat. The 2nd thermostat, I can turn on the heat/AC and it will heat/cool if I keep it at slightly higher/lower than current room temp. If I change temp to anything, say 2 or 3 degrees higher/lower than current room temp, then the circuit breaker will trip. Any ideas where the main issue lies? The vents and filters of the HVAC unit are changed regularly. Is the issue with the thermostat, i.e. I need a new wall unit? Is it the circuit breaker? Is the hvac unit? This is a 10 year old condo. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Time to complete job

How long does it take to install 65 square feet of penny tile from beginning to end (tile install and grout) on a bathroom floor. No really weird angles - 2x45° - the rest is all 90° angles. Previous tile removed but floor isn't prepped. Shower and tub to be tiled around.

What’s the safest way to disconnect my home security system?

Anonymous user 18/03/2026 - 1:22 PM

I have an older wired DSC alarm system that I’d like to replace with a wireless one. The system has room sensors, panic buttons, sirens, an outdoor box, and an indoor keypad. All the wiring runs into the keypad, which is next to the electrical panel. I’m worried about accidentally triggering the alarm if I disconnect it, and I know there’s a backup battery as well. What’s the safest way to shut it down and remove it?
