    Wildlife removal

We had a persistent leak in the roof which was finally dealt with. This lead to a few raccoon being trapped in the attic. They fell thru the patch of damaged dry wall. Once Gate's knew it was an emergency, their technician, Tony was here quickly and removed the raccoon. However, that was not the end of it - two days later, we noticed signs of more animals in the home. I called Gate's and the front desk paged Tony right away. He came literally immediately and removed 4 more! Tony was very professional and pleasant to deal with. Really grateful for his help.

    Answer from pro:

Hello RL, thank you for binging to light a situation that we encounter on a regular basis. Time and time again we are called out to emergency situations where roofers have closed a hole on the roof, resulting in an animals being locked in the attic. A 'HOPEFUL' assumption is made on the part of the roofer that the animals have moved out and are no longer in the attic. The hole on the roof is then mistakenly closed, causing the trapped animals to try and find a way out. As in your situation they sometimes break through the drywall and enter the house. I suppose it is one way to solve an animal problem but not the preferred way. Thank you for complimenting Tony and thank you for hiring Gates Wildlife Control. Brad Gates, B.Sc. Owner / President

    Wildlife Removal from Homes

Why choose AAA Gates Wildlife Control? Simply because they are the BEST! I am a manager of townhouse condominiums and we have had our fair share of wildlife woes in the units. Before finding this fabulous company, I had to have one company deal with the removal and then source out another contractor to fix the damage done by the critter. The removal was done the old fashion way and there is nothing worse than seeing a trap on a roof with a distressed animal inside. AAA Gates Wildlife Control looks after the removal in a humane manner, fixes the areas damaged by the unwanted occupant and recommends further preventative maintenance as necessary. All the technicians are extremely courteous and informative (thanks to Justin I am now a bit of a wildlife expert myself)! "Gates" has made this aspect of my job much easier as I know the problem will be taken care of with just one phone call. In fact, when "Little Red", the spider man of squirrels decided to become my attic room mate, "Gates" was my go to company and swiftly evicted this unwanted border. I, of course, opted for all of Justin's preventative recommendations and while I still see "lil Red" foraging around, he realizes he is not welcome to move in again! I am so thankful to have this awesome company service all of my wildlife needs. SIMPLY THE BEST!!!!!!

Hi Monica, your review is extra special for me because you have used our services as a property manager and as a homeowner. Unlike most of our customers, you have had the opportunity to experience our business from both sides of the fence and have valuable insight. It makes me extremely happy to hear that we have made dealing with wildlife removal from your townhouses a much easier job for you. That is our goal! We also enjoy having customers like you that are "a bit of a wildlife expert" because you understand the process and can educate others on how humane wildlife control should be performed. Monica, I can't thank you enough for all your years as a customer and I hope Little Red keeps out of trouble. Brad Gates, B.Sc. Owner / President

    Humane Animal Control

Over the last 29 years, as a property manager I have dealt with more than my fair share of critter invasions. During the first few years in the property management business, I dreaded the task of dealing with animal control because of the unsatisfactory results and unpleasant experiences we had with the many companies that we tried; and only mediocre results, from the rest. That is, until we found Gates Wildlife Control. I could hardly believe it at the time because in comparison they are so completely different from all the others. They are professional, knowledgeable of animal behaviour, insure the humane handling of animals; inform us of the steps that will be taken ahead of time and keep us informed along the way; as well as, being thoughtful of, and courteous to our tenants. And so, for the past 25 years I have enjoyed peace of mind when it comes to critter invasions, because all I have to do is pick up the phone and call Gates Wildlife Control.

I often refer to the fact that we sell "peace of mind". I feel this is especially important for you as a property manager because you have a multitude of property related responsibilities that need to be fulfilled in a timely and efficient manner. I would like to extend a BIG THANK YOU for trusting us with your wildlife removal needs for all these years. Brad Gates, B.Sc. Owner / President

    Squirrel removal

I had squirrels in my attic and was actually referred to Gates by another pest control company. I am totally impressed by them! From start to finish, they are a shining example of the way a business should work. First, when I called to make an appointment there was no waiting and they told me upfront that the minimum charge was $395 to have a technician come out, but that the estimate was free. Second, they have specific appointment times -- no "between 10am and 2pm" stuff -- and they are punctual!! Boris was my technician and he actually showed up about 10 minutes early. He was pleasant, courteous, professional and thorough and instantly made me feel confident that my squirrel problem would be solved. He discovered the point of entry then wrote up an estimate for me for securing it as well as an additional estimate for also securing other potential problem areas like the chimney and the sewer stack. That blew me away! He gave me a choice based on my budget, which I really appreciated. I decided to go for it all, and within an hour, Boris had secured the point of entry and all other potential problem areas. He explained to me how the squirrels initially got in through one of the roof vents, what he did to secure everything, and explained the one-way exit hatch he installed to ensure the squirrels could not get back in once they had left. He then explained that he would return in a few days to follow-up, remove the hatch if everything looked good and secure it permanently. He explained that no one needed to be there for this follow-up visit and he would leave a note to indicate the final results. Sure enough, a few days later I came home to find a note indicating that the squirrels were gone and the entry point was now permanently secured. Thank you, Boris, for a great job and to you, Brad for running a great company! I can't say enough about AAA Gates Wildlife Control and will happily recommend them. The fact that Brad truly cares enough to personally respond to each of these reviews speaks volumes.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Chris, I don't know what to say. In one paragraph you have summarized what my company stands for. Any potential customers reading your review will have an amazing overview of how we operate and the steps we take to solve their problem. I don't think I could have described it better myself! Your review solidifies in my mind the fact that we are meeting or exceeding our customers expectations and that makes me extremely happy. I would like to also want to thank you for complimenting Boris on being so "pleasant, courteous, professional and thorough". I take the time to read each and every one of our reviews during our morning meetings, your review will receive special attention. Thank you so much!!! Brad Gates, B.Sc. Owner / President

    Animal Control

I would strongly recommend Gates Wildlife Control for any animal control issue. Since we have lived in our century home for 25 years and it is surrounded by trees we have had a number of problems over the years with both raccoons and squirrels. Through trial and error with homemade solutions and other animal control companies we have found the BEST solution to be Gates Wildlife Control. Gates delivers fast service. Gates staff provide courteous, professional and knowledgeable staff. They work diligently to remedy the animal control issue, including as many repeat visits as necessary to ensure you, the customer, is satisfied. I used to fret about the darn squirrels but now with Gates Wildlife I know a safe and humane resolution is only a phone call away. Thanks Gates.

    Answer from pro:

Hi b.penny, I am sorry to hear that you have been battling with raccoon and squirrel issues for so many years. It is a fact that century homes can be challenging simply based on the fact that the wood structure can be compromised by years of decay caused by the elements. Thank you for bringing up the point that we "work diligently to remedy the animal control issue, including as many repeat visits as necessary". It is important for our potential customers to know that we do not charge per visit, like other companies, and that the price quoted during the free estimate covers whatever it takes to solve the problem. I also love your comment "...with Gates Wildlife I know a safe and humane resolution is only a phone call away", it couldn't be more perfect. Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a great review. Brad Gates, B.Sc. Owner / President

Squirrel eviction from soffits and eaves.

My wife and I moved in last year ... the squirrels moved into our soffits this year. Here's why we like Gates: 1)a) easy to book an appointment (I phoned). 1)b) they tell you up front that the minimum is $395 plus tax but that the estimate is free. 2)a) easy to get a date and time slot we want 2)b) they called back a few days ahead to confirm 2)c) Blake arrived on time i.e. too many services leave you waiting and wondering and/or ask for a big time window for their arrival 3) Blake did the inspection and provided a very detailed, line-by-line estimate with no pressure. One-year guarantee. 4) Although the estimate was higher than I was hoping (and no, I was not expecting the minimum), I decided that it was reasonable and gave the go ahead. Blake was available and completed the work while I went to work. He said that they would drop by in a few days to ensure that the squirrel were indeed gone from our soffits (in which case, they would remove the one-way door). I was impressed that Blake had "nicely" moved our patio furniture out of the way (as opposed to tossed around). 5) Indeed, Gates dropped by a few days later and left a note saying that they had checked. The one-way door had been removed. Plus they also called to confirm all this and said to let them know if we needed them to come back. It's been two weeks and the house is nice and quiet i.e. no squirrels running around in our soffits.

    Answer from pro:

Hi P Chen, I absolutely love your chronological list of events. You perfectly described every aspect of how a Gates Wildlife Control job unfolds, from the initial "easy to book appointment" to how Blake lived up to your expectations and that we followed-up to make sure "the house is nice and quiet". You definitely win the prize for the most detailed review to date! I cannot thank you enough for taking what must have involved some time to tell readers "why we (you) like Gates". Thank you for your business! Brad Gates, B.Sc. Owner / President

    Raccoon Pried Open Roof Soffit

After hearing what sounded like the roof being ripped open, we contacted AAA Gains. Justin arrived promptly and confirmed what we suspected - a raccoon had ripped the lower roof soffit open and made his way inside. Justin made suggestions for what was necessary to do immediately as well as preventative options. We decided to have it all done and Justin performed the work immediately even installing one way door for raccoon to escape in case he was still in there as well as metal wire guards over suspect areas and over roof vents . Thanks Justin your pride in workmanship was clear and we appreciate your help. We highly recommend this company to anyone with similar experiences.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Eva, your decision to animal-proof your home to prevent further wildlife intrusions was smart. I like to think of the animals we deal with as mini home inspectors, constantly looking to exploit structural flaws that exist on rooftops and get into attics. By securing these areas you have protected your number one investment from further damage. Thank you for taking the time to explain the work we did at your house and for complimenting Justin on his pride of workmanship. We appreciate your business. Brad Gates, B.Sc. Owner / President

removal of squirrels under the second floor deck

Squirrels had found their way under the second floor deck. I called AAA Gates and within a week they came and inspected the entire perimeter of the second floor deck. They patched up all openings, installed a one-way door, and three days later, after the squirrels vacated the area, they removed the door and close the final opening. The fix was successful. No sign of squirrels. I highly recommend this company. They respond quickly to your phone calls, set appointments promptly, arrive and do a very competent job. If only all companies operated this way. i will continue to use this company for all my squirrel and raccoon problems.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Sal, thank you for your detailed description of how the job unfolded. I especially like your comment..."if only all companies operated this way". In our morning meetings we often talk about servicing the customer the way we, ourselves, would want to be treated. Thank you for writing such a great review. Brad Gates, B.Sc. Squirrel Evacuation

I contacted AAA Gates Wildlife Control, after searching both online and via HomeStars for a company that would humanely evict a squirrel family that had taken up residence in the soffit area of my roof. Joel, was thorough in investigating any potential problem areas in the roof line. He was friendly, knowledgeable and he very patiently answered all of my questions. All areas with issue were sealed & a one way exit with a wood plank was set up to assist the younger squirrels out. A few days later Joel returned, sealed the hole & leveled off the eaves trough which was on an angle, likely from the squirrel activity. Thanks so much Joel!!! The service was excellent and very importantly, also humane. Much appreciated! I would highly recommend this company.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Laura, I am glad to hear that you did your homework before deciding who to hire. Unfortunately, the wildlife control industry is inundated with fly-by-night companies. Thank you for complimenting Joel on his work and on being humane. Our customers and the animals are very important to us. Brad Gates, B.Sc. Owner / President
