As in your case, wildlife situations cannot be diagnosed over the phone and therefore we offer an on-site extimate to determine what exactly is going on, at no cost to our customers. As you experienced, during the skunk birthing season it is sometimes next to impossible to access the babies when the nest is located deep under a structure. The humane solution is to let the mother continue to raise the babies until they are old enough to exit the den on their own (hence the many visits to verify if the babies are old enough to leave the den). When the young are foraging with their mother a one-way-door can be installed to allow them to exit and prevent them from getting back in.
