    Bird nest removal

Downtown Toronto. Had a nest hanging out of a hole in fascia of roof. Justin fixed this problem and put in the low cost test for wildlife in three other holes in my roofing, and assessed all my eavestroughs & roofing with specific recommendations for a roofer. Very courteous, great communication, he arrived earlier than the schedule appointment and was done on time (office estimate 1 hour). The office was great too, making the appointment was a breeze and they called me the day before to confirm so I didn't have to worry about a no show. Following the assessment, the work that I agreed to was done on the spot (no pressure for a more expensive solution, just explanation of pros & cons), and I paid with a credit card right there. All around excellent job and experience!

    Raccoon removal

Hello, this summer I had a raccoon living in my attic for a few months, I named him Jerry. I thought he was a boy and would leave once the weather got warmer but Jerry happened to be a her, and had babies. Your service man came and removed the family from my attic and covered all the holes that they could have came through. I was worried about now Jenny that she would be harmed or hurt through the process but I was quickly talked to about all the steps you guys take to safely and gently remove animals from a property. Thank you very much! :)

    Answer from pro:

Hi Anna, thank you for your review and your concern about removing "Jenny" humanely. Having grown up with a keen interest in urban wildlife, I have developed humane removal methods, which are ensuring that the animal's well-being is paramount. Unfortunately, this is not always the case in the wildlife removal industry. Thank you for hiring my company. Brad Gates, Owner / President

    Squirrels in attic

Recently we had an incident in which squirrels invaded our attic through the roof. The noise was terrible as they chewed and tore their way in, ,,We saw your truck on a nearby street, asked for a card, and called your office. Gates' responded to our request for help and soon our problem was resolved, quickly, efficently and kindly. A delightful young man, Boris, took over, attended to the eviction and repaired the roof. He also checked the whole roof and reported to us that there were no other signs of invasion. We were most pleased with the results and have recommended Gates' to our neighbors who asked about seeing your truck in our driveway.

    Answer from pro:

Thank you for taking the time to write such a fabulous review of my company and particularly my technician Boris. It always pleases me to hear our customers give praise to one of my technicians. I will pass on your kind words to Boris. Brad Gates, Owner / President

    Racoon removal

Sherry Fraser What separates Gates Wildlife Control from other “Pest Control” companies is that once the mother has been removed from the attic and the entry hole sealed, she is released. The raccoon babies are them placed in a heated box outside the owner’s home to allow the mother to come back to retrieve her babies. Raccoons have multiple dens in residential areas; therefore, they just move on.....family intact. Since the raccoon’s primary entrance hole has been sealed, and any alternate entry sites reinforced, raccoons stay away and the homeowner is satisfied. 16 hours ago · Edited · Like

    Red Squirrel problem

We had a problem with a red squirrel that had decided to make our attic it's home. A friend recommended Gates Wildlife, and I'm glad I called them. Chris, the tech sent to deal with the issue was a pleasure to deal with. He was very knowledgeable and thorough. We live in a semi-detached - he even took the time to inspect my neighbors side as well. When the sqirrel returned and was trying to create a new access point at another location (these reds are tenacious little varmints), all it took was one call to Gates and Chris returned to deal with the problem, no additional fees. Outstanding company - from the receptionist on up, everyone I dealt with was great. I wouldn't hesitate to call them again.

Hi Corey, your praise of my company and Chris is greatly appreciated. I made it a point to read your review to my staff in our morning meeting. Hopefully the red squirrels will not make further attempts to gain entry but if they do we are just a call away. Brad Gates, Owner / President

    Racoon removale

We have had a recurring raccoon problem for the past few years. On Oct. 10,2012 your technician Boris came to our house and confirmed that we had an active raccoon problem. He set up a one way door and raccoon proofed the whole house. He returned on Oct. 12 confirmed the raccoons were gone and sealed the entry areas. It's only been a few days but so far there are no signs of raccoons around our house. We were very pleased with the speedy service and the cost was less than expected. Your technician Boris was very courteous and professional. I would recommend your company to anyone with a raccoon problem. Sincerely, Rob M

    Answer from pro:

Hi Rob, it always pleases me to hear positive feedback regarding my employees. I advise and train my staff that their customers should always receive the same level of service that they themselves would expect. Your review of Boris is proof that he lives up to my expectations. Bird removal

An addendum to the original review (below): The owner Mr. Gates called and apologised for his company's lack of communication about what constitutes an emergency service as reported in the following review. He was courteous and I do believe he was being very sincere. I will use this company again and I have changed my rating from a 6 to an 8 ONLY because of this honest phone call. How many companies actually call to apologise? I was very impressed. I do recommend their work Original review: This company does a good job HOWEVER beware of their " emergency service" charge! When I called no one told me that removing a bird from the chimney was deemed BY THE COMPANY as an emergency and that the sevice charge, before even entering my door, was $295!! ( By the way the bird had managed to get itself out. ) When I was absolutely shocked at the bill since the word emergency had never crossed my lips I was told that the company deemed what was an emergency, not the customer. Apparently I was supposed to have been told that when I called. I was not. The gentleman did reduce the bill by 1/2 when I was so upset so I ended up paying $178.99, instead of his original bill of $378. (He did put a fence around the top of the chimney $51 and took our cap with him which he said may have been the reason the bird got in).

    Answer from pro:

Hi Ann Marie, thank you for writing the addendum to your original review. Again, I am sorry that there was misunderstanding regarding our charges. I am happy to know that your original concerns have been dealt with to your satisfaction. Brad Gates, Owner / President

    Squirrel Removal

We were referred to Gates Wildlife Control by one of their competitors after mentioning that our home had cedar shingles (which some companies will not deal with). We had been trying to get rid of a squirrel who was chewing its way through our house and nesting in our cedar soffits for several weeks. Gates' service over the phone and in person was always professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. We would gladly recommend them to anyone. Chris visited our property and performed a complete inspection (climbing up on the roof as well as into the attic) before providing us with an estimate to solve the problem. In the end, we found the nest and carefully removed two babies (3 weeks old) without the need for extreme measures. All potential entry points were then sealed on the spot and the mother and her babies have since moved out of our home.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Mike, thank you for your great review of my company and for any future recommendations. I am glad to hear that the mother squirrel and her babies are living happily outside of your home. Brad Gates, President

    Pest removal

I called Gates in (just lucky, not a referral) when a family of Raccoons took over our attic. Tony quickly blocked all exits (and entrances, and set a one-way trap to ensure the critters couldn't get back in once they left. We were delighted with the result. 18 months later, we realized we had been re-invaded, by much smaller critters who had ingeniously found their way around the wire barriers originally erected by Gates and removed a small section of soffit. Within 2 days we had the owner himself examining all the previous work, installing a new (much smaller) one-way exit trap, at a minimal charge, despite the fact we hadn't elected to take the additional year warranty. Rarely have I experienced the depth of customer service provided by Gates. Reputation is everything, and Gates takes this business very, very, seriously. If you have a problem with wildlife, PLEASE do yourself a favor and call Gates.

    Answer from pro:

Tony, thank you for your kind words! We do strive to offer the best customer service in the business and your testimonial is evidence of that. It was a pleasure to have met you and your wife and I hope the critters find other living quarters, away from your home! Brad Gates, President
