    replaced furnace

my furnace finally gave up after 20 years. Called Buttons for a quote. Nigel, the GM,came to my house, gave me several options and choices.NO sales pressure at all. He asked me what fits my needs We agreed on a price and model. He made arrangements to have my furnace installed within days The service techs,Mike and Jonathon showed up a half an hour early! When does that ever happen !.Extremely professional and had the furnace installed by noon as promised. No mess and came fully prepared. Explained how the system works, answered all my questions and set my thermostat for me.I fully recommend Buttons Heating and Air conditioning

    Central A/C install

Todd came back out a year after installing a furnace and gave us a good price after going thru all our options for installing central air into our old house. Fantastic install crew, very professional. Took the time to answer all my questions. Will be getting them to service and buy from them again!

    HVAC troubleshooting

Update (Nov 23rd) : I was contacted by Button's Heating, who apologized and refunded me for the appointment. Even good companies have bad days and I'm pleased they quickly stepped up and dealt with my complaint. I'd give them a second chance if/when I have another HVAC issue. Original Review (Nov 22nd) : I had a vent in my house which didn't have air coming out when the furnace was on. I called Button's to come have a look and fix it for me. The guy that came took a quick look upstairs at the vent, then a quick look downstairs at the run going to the vent. Apparently having a camera to instead the pipe is not standard equipment. I was then quoted several options to fix it such as replacing the whole pipe run to the room or installing a whole separate heating unit into the upstairs. I was completely unsatisfied with the amount of investigating done on my problem, so after this appointment I did my own investigation. Using a flashlight and my wife's blush compact as a mirror to look down the pipe from the troublesome vent, I was surprised, and angry, to see that there was a pipe disconnect just a few feet down the line. I can't believe that someone in the HVAC field couldn't take the time to quickly look down the pipe. If I can McGyver I'd expect someone I'm paying to be able to do it too. I ended up getting a handy family member to fix it, and received a refund from Button's.

New furnace and air conditioner installation, preinstalltion duct cleaning

Button's recently completed the installation of a Daikin high efficiency furnace and 2 stage air conditioner. Todd was excellent at explaining the available products and did not attempt to oversell. Duct cleaning was performed a few days in advance of the installtion by a Button's subcontractor. The gentleman arrived on time as scheduled. The duct cleaning was very thorough. The installation was completed within one day as scheduled. The installers, Justin, Allan and another gentlemen were very professional, neat and demonstrated pride in their workmanship. At the time the quotation was provided, I was advised that a number of key hole openings may have been required in two drywall ceilings areas. I am grateful that Justin and Allan were able to find a solution which did not require cutting into the drywall

    new heating/air conditioning system

Our former heating & ac company dispatched two service men to our home during the hottest heat spell of the summer. When no solution was reached and no care taken to suggest alternatives, we were left to look for a company who cared solve our problem. We called Button Heating and were greeted by their friendly dispatcher who treated our matter as a high priority. Mario showed up the day that we called. Not only did he try to resolve our issue, he took the time to check our system thoroughly and found even more serious issues with our heating system. The best solution was to replace our old system. Mario took the time to help us make the best selection for our needs, making sure that he and the service team was available to us at times that were suitable to us. Within days, our new system was installed by Button Heating's representatives. They arrived on time, took all cleanliness and safety precautions and handled themselves in a very professional manner. Mario made sure that he was available to answer any questions we had and also took the time to follow up with us afterward. From that very first call to Button Heating, and subsequent calls to their office, the staff are friendly, extremely professional and continue uphold the very best values of a customer relationship. Our whole experience with Button Heating left us feeling like we were dealing with a trusted family friend who cared about providing a solution. Kudos to you, Button Heating!! Mario and staff, thank you for winning us over as customers for life. Our former heating and AC company lost $10000 and our business. With kind regards, Gary & Mary Urie Oshawa ON

    Furnace and Water Heater installation

Just completed business with Button's and was very pleased with the outcome. On the first visit for getting an estimate Todd took a great deal of time to answer all our questions and even explained other information that was valuable in making a decision on what type of unit was best of our needs. The installation team was very professional. Their workmanship was excellent. They arrived on time and left the area very tidy. I contacted Button's based on a referral to me and I would definitely refer them to my friends and family.

    Air Conditioner Installation

I hired Button's to recommend and install a new central air conditioner (I did not have one previously) in my home in early Spring. When Todd came he was on time and did a thorough inspection of my furnace, ducts and area outside where my a/c eventually was placed. He explained the various types of units they sold, how they worked with my furnace (coils, etc), the efficiency ratings etc. I initially decided to purchase the slightly more expensive Trane because of the brand name, but when Todd came back to measure he realized the coil size that was to go into my furnace would not fit. I ended up with the Daikin model but I haven't been disappointed - and the warranty is exceptional so I am hopeful going forward. I ran it throughout the summer and it was amazing. The a/c model and coil are fit to your preference and furnace size so pricing, rebates (if applicable) and efficiency will vary (I learned this from Todd and the interweb), but going from an old window unit that was loud and barely cooled anything down to the Daikin was night and day. It is relatively quiet, so so efficient (my hydro bills were not any higher than when I used my window unit!!) and cooled and dehumidified my house wonderfully. I kick myself that I suffered through summers without it. Todd and team also installed a bigger filter on my furnace. The office staff (particularly Alison) were very responsive and patient answering all my questions and concerns. I liked Todd and did not feel that he was trying to 'oversell' me on the size / efficiency for my needs and would recommend this company to my friends and family. My only advice would be to measure your furnace before you get your heart set on a brand/size and make sure your address is correct on your invoice (my fault but it delayed my rebate). Thank you Button's!

Hi Kate, It was a real pleasure to deal with you and thank you for following through with a nice review as promised. I am extremely thorough with my assessments before finalizing a contract to avoid any surprises or disappointment. Although I would liked to have recognized the limitations with your ductwork immediately, I am glad we caught this before booking an install date. It would have been a shame to get down on the day of installation only to find out then that the AC would not fit. This would be a day lost for you and our technicians. I hope you enjoy the comfort of your new AC and the quality of your indoor air with your new filter system. Please do not hesitate to call us if you have any questions or concerns going forward. Thanks again ! The Button's team

    Furnace & Air Conditioning

Had a new Daikin furnace and air conditioning installed, efficient and good crew installed it promptly. However, I started getting a Blower Motor Limit Alarm, I called Button's Heating and service man came over. He was unable to clear alarm and didn't know what was causing it. While he was here, I noticed my humidifier was connected via a transformer hanging in the electrical compartment of the furnace. I questioned him and he said that was the only way they could connect it. After he left, I read the installation manual and found the proper way to connect a 24v humidifier and removed the unnecessary transformer and connected it properly. A few days later, I noticed my duct booster fans weren't running. I looked into this and found the wire to them was cut off at the furnace. No mention of this was made by the installer. I looked into this and was able to add a relay to control the duct booster fans and put them back in service. I still have the alarm, and don't know whether it is ruining my furnace or what to do about it. Follow-up: Button's Service Manager, Mark, came over. He explained the use of the transformer and benefits, re-installed using a proper mounting bracket. As for the Blower Motor Limit Alarm, he found that I had put the fan at 100%, being a variable speed fan when it tried to ramp up it couldn't because it was already at 100%, thus the alarm. He recommended setting the fan at low speed, which cleared the alarm, it hasn't returned and the furnace ramps up as necessary. He did notice a high static pressure, which is unexplained at this point, probably due to legacy duct issues with a new furnace. Most of the issues could have been prevented by more communication with the homeowner.

    Answer from pro:

Hello Gary, It was a pleasure talking with you today and discussing the content of your review. I have recapped our conversation below. The furnace was getting a blower motor limit warning after a thunderstorm. Our technician visited the home and discovered a loose neutral wire inside the furnace cabinet. Our technician repaired the wire, reset the alarm code and tested the furnace several times to try and cause the code to reappear. The code did not reappear at this time and our technician thought that perhaps because of the loose wire in combination of the severe thunderstorm that this was the cause of the fault which is not an uncommon occurrence. The technician did advise that if this fault was to appear again, to give us a call and we would return. Unfortunately, our records indicate that there was no request for a return service call. All of our service technicians would never leave a fault code on a furnace without investigating further. There are several avenues of support in case they are having problems finding the source of issues. We have thousands of customers and have been able to solve all problems related to fault codes. Some issues we may need to return on a second visit. Today’s equipment is very complicated with circuit boards and various complicated components and sometimes a second call may be needed to solve issues. As far as the unnecessary humidifier transformer, yes in the manual it shows that the transformer is not needed, however from experience and advisement from the manufacturer it is advisable to use a secondary transformer for additional components to the furnace. If there are problems with the humidifier in the future, which has happened, there is a possibility of furnace damage. Since there is a possibility, we as a precaution always install a secondary transformer and advise that it be reinstalled. The duct booster fan not connected was not mentioned to the service technician at the time of the visit. The feedback from our install manager is that if the wire was connected directly to the furnace, it is out of code. If this was the case they install crew would not have reconnected it. Again, I thank you for taking my phone call today and discussing this with me. I am confident that upon our return, these issues will be completely resolved. I have just received word that the appointment is already booked and we look forward to seeing you Monday afternoon.

    Install New Trane AC

Of course, AC only fails on the hottest days of summer. Since the AC was 18 years old, we wanted to replace it. I called Joe Button and he was out to quote the same afternoon. The quote was competitive and we booked right away. Joe searched for any gaps in their calendar and was able to get us installed in under 7 days. The install team came in, kept everything clean and we were cool again. This machine is quieter and cooler than the previous. Thanks Joe and Button's team.

    Answer from pro:

Yes the hottest day is when the AC will fail. We are happy that we were able to look after you as soon as we did and have you home comfortable and cool. Team Button's
