    Windows and Doors replaced

Living in Alberta with 30 year old windows was the reason for change. We were impressed with the professionalism from start to finish. We made choices in November and installation in January. Could have been installed in December but we waited till January. Luckily the weather cooperated and had it completed in two days. Doors were completed a week later. Two days later we had minus 40 weather for a complete test of our new attractive windows and doors. What a difference! The reason I went to Canadian was that the installation team was from their company and not out sourced. Thank-you Alexey and your installation team.

Shoddy installation and left a mess

We received very poor service. First, installers arrived late, and Canadian Choice initially tried to cancel installation (which had already been delayed several times) when the installer backed out. Second, the installer left without cleaning the windows, and left an ugly sticky residue on the outside of the windows that we have not been able to clean off. But most importantly, there is a plastic sheet left between the two panes, I think by mistake which means that there are ugly visible streak in several places, around the whole window about an inch from the inside and one large one down the centre. Finally, the installer, Mike, left a pile of dirt and debris inside our dining room and also left shards of metal and rusted screws all over our driveway (leftover from the old removed windows which he didn’t adequately clean up) We have been trying to get Canadian Choice to fix the problem but keep getting bounced between their installation team and service team. Calls to the service desk go unanswered. We had received lower quotes but chose them because we'd been promised superior service. But the service and quality have both been poor. Don’t make the same mistake we did.

15 High Efficiency Triple Pane Windows

We ordered and expected R9 wide-spaced triple-pane glass windows for all 15 windows but they only installed 3 windows with those specifications. 7 windows were the lower R7 narrow pane triple-pane and 1 window was a double pane. The company didn't inform me of these changes and just came and installed the windows hoping I wouldn't notice. I wanted the highest efficiency glass possible. If this company could not supply me with what I needed, I would have looked to another supplier. The sales person was not truthful and withheld information in order to make this sale of $20,000. In the end I did NOT get the most efficient windows I wanted and the company doesn’t care about customer satisfaction. They even deleted my Google review! On a day with an outside temperature of -36C, I took temperature measurements of the inside surface temperatures. The interior wall temperature baseline (14.4C) and then measured each window. Wide-Pane glass (12.6C, [delta -1.8C]), the Narrow-Pane glass (9.8C, [delta -4.8C]) and finally the Dual-Pane glass(9.4C, [delta -5.0C]). The windows cover 90% of this wall so, during cold days, the less efficient windows will be felt.

    Answer from pro:

Hello Mr Ray, as per out many conversations the windows you got are exactly as per contract that you have signed. Just for your information R value is for walls and insulation not for windows and doors as they are insulators. Furthermore windows will always be the coldest part of your home because it is glass and not insulation, we do everything possible using triple glass, argon gas and low-e to reduce the outside elements as much as possible. You are writing in this review that with -36C outside temperature your walls were 14.4C and windows 12.6C, this is actually amazing we did not think windows can be this efficient as they are almost same temperature as the wall with insulation, siding, drywall and etc. One suggestions we have is if you walls are 14.4C you should raise the temperature in you home you will then see a difference in your walls and windows

    Garbage

Was pressured into going with this company for windows and doors. Thought I would be seeking me house and thought I was getting a decent price on doors and windows to replace my drafty old ones. 5 years later, the doors and windows are almost as drafty, the basement door is stuck solid (shouldn’t be given the material and that the basement is waterproofed)...had I known I wouldn’t wind up selling I would have done far more research, although the sales tactics used by the salesman was high pressure. Definitely recommend not feeling pressured on the spot and doing more research than I did. I won’t be considering this company again when I have to replace my windows and doors - which will likely be sooner rather than later.

    Answer from pro:

Hello, we are sorry about your experience, our window are trested and designed to last a lifetime so if they are drafty there might be a service that needs to be done. If there are issues please don't hesitate to call us and we can arrange service for you.

    Windows Installation

Four old wooden windows were replaced in family room and dining area. Job was done very well, new windows look great! Sales representative Boris Likher explained about a company and quality of their windows and life warranty. Installers did great job. We are happy with their service and would recommend it. P.S. This is second time we used this company. First time they replaced an entrance door and patio door.

Window Retrofit + Full Door Replacement

This is more of a midway review but I don't see my opinion changing, I initially had a targeted ad thrown my way letting me know about a window re age program saving me $4,000 off my window replacement in my first home the windows I had were decrepit and screwed shut by the prior owner, this plus the fact I was relatively inexperienced with windows I decided to give it a shot, the first couple phases were done in a professional and timely manner, those phases being the sales guy coming and going over the products/services to be purchased, costs and financing as well as the representative who came about 2 weeks later for measuring. This is about as much good as I can say. After this there was about a 4 month wait to have my windows/door made and ready to install. I was given an initial tentative date for installation and on the day of is when I got an email (not even a call) to let me know the date was being moved. When the agreed installation date came, the installers showed up were friendly and approachable enough and did what they were expected to do but I was told it would be a one day job, which by the time the better part of 8 hours had past I was informed they would not finish that day and needed to reschedule (the work they managed to get done seemed good quality based on the assessment of a non professional). This is the second time so far I had to make drastic adjustments to accommodate this company at the last minute, as per the installers request I agree to have them come back on Friday (3 days later). I make arrangements to have someone watch over my home as they worked, as I couldn't attend with my work schedule. When Friday came I was called and told that the installer was abandoning the appointment he insisted on because it was "too cold", wasting the time of the individual I got to watch my place for the day. At this point customer service acted as a middle man between the installer and myself and assured me that the installer is requesting (by his own selection ONCE AGAIN) that he come first thing the next day (today) at 9. It's currently 11am and no one has showed up, I've received no calls and I've called the customer service line about 15 times between 9am and now with no answer or return of call with the automated messenger claiming "all operators are busy". I'm beyond frustrated, I feel liied to, manipulated and like I've been given the slip and I'm embarrassed to have wasted someone else's time becsuse of this company not once but twice based on them not being able to live up to self imposed obligations. This is highly unprofessional practice and as in individual who works in a time intensive industry who doesn't have the privilege to hide behind excuses for not getting my work done I feel especially slighted by this transaction, I hope a member of upper management reads this review and something is done to make up for this, because it's not fair to the average consumer to be treated this way from a seemingly disjointed company. An update to this review will be posted either here or on google reviews to let all know the aftermath, whether there's any form of recompense, apology or if I'm just ignored as I expect to be.

    New door amd windows

Joe gave us the best quote and best service. The crew that came by (juri) was awesome. It was a great experience when you consider the stress involved in these decisions. Great job guys. So clean and professional. Oh and by the way, they kept their masks on the entire time. Joe did a follow up after the installation to make sure we were satisfied. We are extremely satisfied. We can’t wait to replace more windows. We will be calling Joe. Thank you everyone for a great experience!
