After receiving a flyer in the mail and reading all of the excellent online reviews, we decided to sign up for Hometurf's Complete Program (the higher level and more expensive program). Based on the lack of negative reviews, standing with the BBB, and their guarantee for reapplications we thought we couldn't go wrong.
Of the 10 services they were supposed to provide throughout the year, only a few of them were applied correctly and a few of them were never applied even though they left the service record stating they had.
Every single time we have contacted customer support, they were not friendly and seemed not to care about the quality of their service. We were placated with the promise of a reapplication and were left waiting for two to three weeks wondering if they were actually going to fix the past mistake.
Every single weed control application (total of 3) was completed with a lack of thoroughness that left all but one weed alive and healthy. I have had to spend the entire year hand weeding the lawn myself.
Two of the applications of fertilizer left large patches of lawn burnt from over-fertilization.
The first application of over seeding and aeration skipped the over seeding completely and aerated less than 20% of the lawn. They made two random circles of the front and back lawns with the aerator and then just left. When they returned to fix the application, they properly aerated but again skipped the over seeding.
I can't comment regarding the insect control because I have no way of telling if it was actually applied or not, but based on the rest of the service I am left doubting it was.
I would have to say that the service was exceptionally poor and feel that my money was wasted. Their customer service seems like they could not care less so I doubt that it would be a productive use of my time to engage with them for the fifth time. I'm at a loss when it comes to the discrepancy between the online reviews and the actual service I was provided.
