    George - Clearing up a blocked bathroom sink

    New Canadian did an excellent job 8 years ago replacing all our plumbing. Since then we've hired them to replace the toilet at our rental property - again good, efficient work. And just yesterday George arrived (an hour after I called) to clear up a clog in our bathroom sink. He was friendly, got to work right away, and explained to us after the details of what he had done. He also took the time to explain the best Dos and Dont's of keeping our bathroom sink clog free and was happy to answer the same question more than once. Excellent service (as usual). New Canadian is our 'go to' plumbers for any job, whether large or small. Thanks George!

    Plumbing

    Winford and Habib spent a full day (9am -7pm) replacing the original plumbing from the 2nd floor bathroom because of leaking. They needed to remove plaster both in the living below and bedroom behind the bathroom to chess the job. Everything was covered up to protect it from the dust and when they finished the job, they cleaned up as best they could. Throughout the day, they never stopped, not even for lunch just so that they could finish the job. I was really impressed with how hard they work and yet they were very pleasant to have in the house. Even the insurance adjuster commented on the quality of work and how impressed he was by how the job had been completed with minimal damage. This is the second time I have used New Canadian (for two different jobs) and I would hire them again. Thanks Winford and Habib.

    WHOLE HOUSE UPGRADE

    In October 2020 we had our toilet back up into our shower. New Canadian sent George out to investigate. He determined, and showed us with his camera, that the drain out to the street was not sloped correctly anymore and this was causing our issue. New Canadian sent a crew to dig up the lawn and they replaced all of the drains (and the water line for good measure) from our house right out to the City hookup. We had another backup a few months later and George was back at the house scoping the drain again. We saw that the drains under our basement floor (different line than before) were not sloped properly and they were not washing out correctly (they were also the wrong size). George gave us a temporary fix that would last us a few months so that we could address this problem as part of a planned major renovation. We started the major reno and George and his crew were back at the house, as promised, to fix the issues. The New Canadian crew were AMAZING. They dug up, replaced, re-graded, and properly backfilled all of the drains in our basement. They also added 2 necessary drains and fixed the one existing drain (which was done wrong originally by a DIY'er) in 3 days. The New Canadian crew did such an awesome job all of this work that we contracted them to do the plumbing for the rest of the house as part of our reno. George and Esteban took over the "above ground" work and replaced every drain, ran new vents, a new stack, and new water lines through the entire house in 5 days. ALL of the New Canadian crew was courteous, respectful, and professional. Above all else, they answered our questions! We asked about details along the way purely out of interest and curiosity of what they were doing, why, and how it works so that we could learn about the systems that make up our house. Anyone on the crew that we asked was more than happy to explain what, why, and how they were doing what they were doing. It's refreshing to deal with a group of people, and a company, that are genuine and genuinely happy to educate us, as homeowners, about their craft. 100% I will recommend New Canadian to ANYONE looking for help with ANY plumbing problem.

    Leaky copper pipe

    Had a corroded, leaky copper tee and elbow joint in the hot water supply line. Habib looked at it, gave me an estimate on the spot and said that it would take about 30 mins. He turned off the water to the house, drained the pipes, cut out the problematic section, soldered copper to PEX fittings, added a PEX tee and elbow and reconnected everything. Was very fast and quality was high. And he did do it in 30 mins. A bit pricey for the amount of time spent, but I'd call him again!

    Overpriced, no follow up

    They helped us with repairs to our shower. 3 hours work and was charged $1200 incl tax. We needed some follow up work for a smaller job and they wouldn't respond to my requests. Used another plumber for this work (turned out to take approx 1.5 hrs) and were billed under $300.

    Blocked drains

    The office lady was very polite and welcoming. We explained our concern, and she offered same-day service. So, to suit our schedule, George came the next day at 9:30 a.m., well within the time slot promised. Then the magic began, for he quickly diagnosed the problem and thoroughly explained what action was needed. At every step, he showed what his pipe inspection camera recorded and the result after flushing the system. George deserves ten stars out of five!!! We will get New Canadian Drain and Plumbing to flush our pipes annually.

    Didn't fix our toilet, excessive fee, and wouldn't even provide a partial refund

    My sense with this company is that some of the plumbers provide better service than others. The plumber who was assigned to us was unable to fix one of the two toilets that was in need of repair, and in fact left it functioning worse than when he started. He then offered to replace the toilet entirely, if we paid for a new toilet, but offered an extremely limited selection. We asked the company for a partial refund, but they refused. The overall cost was more than $700 for less than 1.5 hours of labour and some parts for 2 toilets. A different plumber came and fixed the toilet that had been made worse for $250.

    Our technician was at your home on the initial visit for 1.5 hours and replaced of the parts of the Toto toilets after having suggested that the toilets be completely replaced since Toto toilets often are difficult to fix as parts are difficult to find. After hearing this suggestion from the technician, you agreed to only replace the parts. As parts for a Toto toilet are specific and not generic it makes them difficult to find and expensive hence the reason the second visit to replace the seat of the flush valve at no extra charge was delayed several weeks. Once the seat of the flush valve was found and purchased by our technician, we returned for the second visit of another half hour. The times indicated was spent at your home and does not include the additional travel time and time spent looking for the parts which are difficult to find. The materials that were used to fix your toilets cost $100. We are sorry that you feel this way but looking at the amount spent to fix the toilets on the initial visit and considering amount of time spent at your home, travelling, and searching for the specific parts, the amount charged was a reasonable amount.

    Clogged kitchen sink

    My kitchen sink became clogged on a Saturday night. The next day, I contacted several plumbing companies to see if they could help. One turned down my request, while another one said they were backed up with requests and couldn't send someone until Wednesday. However, New Canadian Drain & Plumbing Ltd. was able to send someone over on the same day, and the guy got the job done very quickly. I would definitely consider using them again.

    clear kitchen drain blockage

    called the company and they had George (Ji Chei) responded within a couple of hours. George was polite and did a systematic review of the problem to make sure that the kitchen sink blockage wasn't a part of a larger problem. He got right to work and was able to clear the blockage. He also provided some tips on how to avoid future blockages and advised against using chemical commercial agents as they might corrode metal pipes that might exist. George also pointed out that there was a small leak from the kitchen faucet that should be looked at. Quote was provided up front including a seniors discount.

    repair of broken water pipe

    Our water pipe had cracked resulting in water seeping into the basement. I spoke to Shendon, the field manager, on Tuesday. He came over Wednesday to discuss the work required to replace the broken pipe and outlined very clearly what work would be done, including completely cleaning the site. His team arrived on Thursday and completed the job today. The men are pleasant, professional, focused and tackled an unexpected layer of concrete with no issues. I have not used this company before, but now will not use any other. I highly recommend this team. Just excellent!
