    Basement drain repair

We paid for a problem to be fixed that wasn't the problem. As it turned out the bad smell in the basement wasn't coming from the main drain being compromised by tree roots but rather from gas emitting from a bathroom drain. Which was addressed by sealing off the crawl space trap door with tape. Having the basement drains replaced by an overzealous & perhaps unethical service manager was future work we didn't need to have done now. His supervisors' & NC's owner visits to our house to eventually address the real problem were really appreciated but did we have to spend $8500 to have the drains fixed by having $2.00 of tape applied to seal off the crawl space? I don't think so. Great service to fix the wrong problem for a lot of money. Mixed feelings. Apparently the service manager is no longer at NC. NC offered no compensation for their mistake.

Hi Mark, New Canadian Drain & Plumbing did work for you on November 10, 2016. We replaced your drain outside and a section of your drain inside at the front wall which was full of roots. You were present at the time when we performed a camera inspection and you saw for yourself. It was brought to your attention that the people who did your Waterproofing did a wrong connection by breaking your clay pipe and sticking it into your weeping tile causing a smell to travel throughout your house. New Canadian Drain & Plumbing had to re-do a proper connection and install a running trap to prevent the smell from going through the weeping tile. Our work was completed and clean and you were present for the duration of our work and expressed your satisfaction. On November 26, 2016, you contacted our office regarding a smell coming from your upstairs kitchen on the main floor. When our supervisor arrived on site, he did an investigation and did not detect any smell from the kitchen. You were present and acknowledged that there was no smell. Our supervisor informed you to contact our office should you detect the smell again and that we would come back right away. You contacted our office again on January 30, 2017 and said that there was no longer a smell in the upstairs kitchen on the main floor but that there was now a smell coming from the basement shower. Our supervisor, once again, came to your site and removed the toilet and performed a camera inspection in your presence. The drain was clean and there was no smell detected. You, again, acknowledged that there was no smell. On February 12, 2017, you contacted our office again about a smell in the shower/washroom area in the basement. We came back to your site and removed the toilet and did another camera inspection. Once again, there was no smell from the shower but we did detect a smell coming from behind the back wall in the basement where the stack for the back washroom was going to the drain. We informed you that if you remove the sauna in front of the stack, we would be able to do an investigation to detect where the smell was originating from. We went upstairs to the master bedroom in the back of your house and noticed that you had attempted to fix the sink drain in the master bedroom by yourself using a snake which you got stuck in the drain. We pulled your snake out of the drain and snaked the drain and re-connected your sink drain for you at no charge. In total, we came to your house on 3 occasions as you requested, we were punctual, and addressed all your concerns each and every time. Your drain problem was caused by roots and an un-proper connection of your weeping tile which we corrected for you. In a house that is over 100 years old, multiple problems can arise whether it be with your old drain system, plumbing or vents. It is clear that you understand this as you have attempted to fix some of your plumbing problems yourself. New Canadian Drain & Plumbing finds it very unfair for you to give us a 1 rating on Home Stars and blame us for every issue that you encounter with your house after we have addressed your Drain and Plumbing issues and concerns with the utmost level of workmanship and customer service.

    Needed a toilet fixed

I have used New Cdn Plumping for over 5 years. Recently, one of our toilets kept running and needed a repair. I called NCP and asked for Danny. He had helped us before on another issue. Also we have used Seyed who was excellent. Both guys were professional, polite and effective. Thank you!! If we have another issue, we'll call.

Sewer backup - won't happen again after I used New Canadian

I had a sewer backup and used New Canadian. Their technician Shendon Brown did the snack, pointed out all the places that are collapsed/blocked. I ended up replacing all the clay pipes inside the house from the back to the front under the basement. I also replaced all the pipes from the front of the house to the city sewer. The work took 4 days to complete. Shendon had re-designed the whole drainage system in my basement: added in 3 new floor drains to avoid future flooding and added 3 branch check valves to avoid sewer backup. For the outside, he added 2 new access points for easy access to the drainage system, one for checking from outside to city sewer and the other for city sewer to the house, no need to remove the toilet to put the snack camera through. He also added a valve at the outside so no city sewer backup will happen. I am very happy with all the preventive measures Shendon had put in place without me asking (I wouldn't know what to ask for anyways). He is very professional and take time to answer my questions and educate me at the same time. The place was well cleaned up after. Thank you Shendon and his crew !!

    Excellent replacement of sewage piping

New Canadian did a really top notch job of replacing the old sewage piping underneath our home in Toronto (tree roots were infiltrating the old piping). This work involved removing carpets and sub-floor to access and break through the concrete floor throughout the basement. The work was neatly done, everything other than ceramic tiles in the bathroom was well reinstalled (we chose to re-tile ourselves). The new piping has functioned without issue. I strongly recommend New Canadian to anyone who needs to have their underground piping replaced.

    Main Waste Water/Sewage Pipe Cracked

There was some water on my carpeted basement floor in the laundry room. I got a recommendation to call in New Canadian Drains and Plumbing based on work a friend had done. They were in my house the same day I called them to inspect the issue. They had to break into basement wall to find out what was going on. Found a very nice, big crack in the plumbing stack that runs from the top floor bathroom down into the basement floor. This stack takes all waste water and puts it into the sewer. The supervisor, Shendon, decided we should do the least invasive thing possible and go into the walls underneath the kitchen sink which would minimize damage to walls. The next day at 9:00 a.m. my team of workers showed up. Immediately covered all the floors and put up drop sheets to keep my recreation room as clean as possible. They had to jackhammer through the basement floor, remove the cracked stack from the kitchen down into the basement. Because the water heater and furnace were in the way they had to "re-route" the new stack which also meant moving my dryer! Yikes! But they found a solution so I wouldn't endure more workers and more cost to vent and plug in the dryer in a new area in the basement. They measured and determined the dryer could be placed in a slightly different position than it's original location. So far, so good. A team of 4 or 5 or 6 people were here all day and while they originally felt it would be a 2 day job, the boys all decided to work right through the whole day and get the job done in 1 day. They had to remove a lot of stone, cement and then replace it all and patch it up. Yes, it cost $5,000 but I knew from the outset this job was going to be pricey. They saved me money, and time and made sure everything was cleaned up, removed, carted away. They also tested the whole new system 3 times before they left to make sure everything was working. The next day Shendon came back to inspect everything and attend to a few small things that made sure I was "up to code" re plumbing regulations. As a senior I also qualified for a 10% discount (every little bit helps when you're living on CPP/OAS). A very big thank you to Shendon, Lino, Dennis, Mohammed, Pulya, Tracey (in the office) for being helpful, fast, concerned, hard workering and doing such a good job (hope I spelled your names correctly).

Drain pipe replacements -- exterior and interior

We discovered water backing up out of our basement drain at mid-afternoon on New Year’s Eve, of all days. After checking on Homestars, we called New Canadian and were told that someone would be at our house in about half an hour. Isaac arrived promptly and did camera inspections and snaking of both our outside cleanout and our basement drain and stack cleanout. As he discovered and then explained to us, we had a collapsed pipe outside, and tree root infiltration of the drain pipe running from the basement stack. Excavation would need to be done in both places, and PVC pipes installed to replace sections of the original clay pipes. As well, part of our cast iron basement stack needed to be replaced with a few feet of PVC pipe. The whole process, which took about two whole days of work in total, was completed by the same two-man crew. The excavation of the front yard, no small feat in the first week of January, was done with extreme care, shored up with wood, and protected with a mesh barrier overnight before backfill could be done the next day. The basement work was done very quickly and efficiently, and the area neatly cemented over. On all days, Isaac came by to see how things were going and to provide any additional information. A supervisor also inspected the work at both projects. Needless to say, we have been very pleased with the meticulous work, courtesy, and professionalism of everyone from New Canadian, and would highly recommend this company to anyone requiring plumbing services. Thank you!

changing old sewer pipes to new ones

The workers were fantastic, knew their job and did it well. This was New Years eve and they came quickly. The old pipes with roots were removed, and new pipes put in the basement. Did a great job at cutting the tiled floor so it could be put back again. They cleaned up the areas so well I was suprised. Thanks guys, you were very professional. Alex and Irene
