    Fix clogged drain

Isaac ran the job for New Canadian Drain. He was professional, prompt, clear in his explanations. He put a camera through the drain free of charge and found the clog no where near where I though it was. He had to go through the neighbour's sidewalk, after a major snowstorm, in -15 degree temperatures. It was finished in a day and a half, worksite clean. And Isaac kept to his word, returning two days later to replace y toilet fill mechanism, free of charge. Little things like this ale a huge difference. I've been ripped off before by drain companies; I don't this time. If you war to feel like your work will be done properly, and that your contractor cares about his work and customers, it costs more, but it is the way to go, especially with drains. Price above is after tax.

    Sewer fly problem

I am forever indebted to Malik at New Canadian Plumbing (truly). I have been agonized for the past four months with a sewer fly problem. I had just finished totally gutting and renovating a basement apartment into a luxury unit. As soon as the tenants moved in, they were infested with sewer flies. Four different plumbers came to assess the problem, three came back twice. Two handymen were hired to make sure all the openings were sealed - an exterminating company came in twice. It made absolutely no difference. The problem was getting worse. My tenants wanted compensation, and were talking about leaving. It was awful. Then I called New Canadian (through an internet search), and Malik on the phone said he would solve my problem. He was so confident - I was hopeful. He came in, and asked questions that the other 4 plumbers had never asked. He looked in places that the others had not even considered. Malik found the problem in 10 minutes. Four months of agony solved. And all this, for a small service call fee. Thank you Malik!! I truly will be forever indebted to you.

Waterproofing, drain replacement, removal of lead main from property to house, back water valve

(this review is a few months late, I couldn't post it sooner) I recently contacted NCDP for a quote for waterproofing. I needed the perimeter of my house done as water was leaking on all exterior walls. I got quotes from 3 separate companies. The first contact was with Malik. He was kind and professional, he contacted me promptly and came out to the property to assess the work that needed to be done. I searched home stars for the three companies. NCDP was the youngest of the three and their quote was not the lowest but definitely not the highest. My search on home stars showed such wonderful reviews (of course not every company will be able to satisfy everybody, there are always a few people who have unrealistic expectations). I called Malik back to firm up the deal. He returned to my property with Igor, an owner. Igor gave me his assessment and suggested that I do half the work from the inside and the other half from outside. He explained the benefits and I agreed. (I ended up saving a lot of money by not having to rebuild my front veranda or fix my neighbours access to his backyard). I was given a start and end date for the work and informed that a large crew was to come in to get the work done quickly. The whole process was explained in detail - I was even told how soon I'd be able to call the asphalter to fix my driveway; Spring once the land has settled. The work started on time!! The crew took every precaution to minimize my inconvenience and to try to avoid excess dust and dirt from coming upstairs. They knew I was pregnant but I believe they do this with every customer. I can tell you the staff was friendly and courteous. Very well mannered!! Igor came out daily to check on the work. Once they ripped out part of the basement floor, they found my foundation was weak. (old house built circa 1940, building code was probably not in effect at that time, my house has physically shifted throughout my ownership, visible cracks on the walls, doors causing problems - now I know why) Igor came to talk to me right away - he showed me the foundation and explained that he was going to get the crew to reinforce my foundation to bring it up to code. Once I saw the foundation I understood why my house has shifted throughout the years. With all the shifting that the house has gone through throughout the years, Malik ended up checking on the drains. As suspected the drains were in HORRIBLE shape, and go figure the trap was broken!! I ended up getting a quote to REDO the whole drain system as well as fix the trap and install a backwater valve. Since they were there I also asked for a quote to replace the water main into the property from lead to copper. I ended up getting everything done through NCDP. This added a bit of time to the work of course as I ended up almost doubling the work for them. I was so pleased to see Igor at my property ensuring the work was done properly, and seeing Malik coming out to check on the crew also. I wasn't able to get everybody's names but I remember Vasan and Ferhad helping me out with a water fixture that was problematic. They replaced all the drains and filled all the holes. I got an approval from the city for the back water valve grant. I go to my basement and it no longer smells musty or humid for that fact!! I can actually USE my basement!! By fixing the water main to copper I also have better water pressure coming into the house now and NO LEAD!!! (the city had fixed up to the property line a few years back but owners are responsible from the property line into the house) I have added value to my property :) the 25 year guarantee for the waterproofing follows the house, an excellent selling feature. If I ever purchase another property and need plumbing work I will most definitely call NCDP. I will be using their services in the near future to relocate some water pipes. I have recommended them to friends and speak highly of their work. I can tell you their work quality is only surpassed by their manners and courteous way. I am extremely happy that I used NCDP. Don't take my word for it - use them and see for yourself, I'm sure you'll be pleased with their services. I've kept Malik on my contact list and keep his card on hand, THAT is how impressed I was with the workmanship that was done on my home!! (quoted cost is approximate and is for ALL services I had done; waterproofing perimeter of home, drain replacement, back water valve, lead pipe removal)

    Blocked Basement Floor Drain

Company website advertises "free" estimate. This is incorrect. By "free" they mean they come look at the problem and say "You have a problem. Might cost you between $200 to $5000 to fix. If you want more specifics, that will cost you $200 for a camera inspection." False advertising. Don't recommend company as if they can't get be truthful in the first 5 minutes, they are unlikely to be truthful about the rest of the work and its costs.

    Answer from pro:

Hi AB, First and foremost, our company goes to sites and provides a free estimate where the issue is above ground and/or visible. Most times, we are able to see what the issue is but when the underlying issue is below ground and there is an issue that is not visible to the eye, then we would have to perform work and use our equipment to do a further investigation to locate and diagnose the problem at which time, we inform the customer that there would have to be a charge for service. Some companies will even apply a charge just to come to site whereas our company does not. Our company advertises free estimate, not free service. Which company will come to your site and provide free service without a charge? Your interpretation of a free estimate is misconstrued and as a result of this, you are trying to defame our good name. New Canadian Drain & Plumbing is a very honest and reputable company, as many of our customers can vouch for, and we will continue to deliver the exceptional service that we are recognized for.

    Extending pipe

Short story was that the previous home owner was an amateur DIY 'er- and that's where the problem starts. The pipe from the top floor sink barely was touching the bottom drain pipe, and as a result, with a bit of agitation there was suddenly a 2 inch gap. I called New Canadian on a Saturday at 2:30 and they were able to have someone come look at my place by 3:30. The receptionist was super helpful and friendly. When Jeff came to my place, he offered a solution immediately and gave me a realistic quote. He worked diligently, was super neat, and respectful of any mess that would result. Also, he pointed out other issues that the previous "DIY'er" had made. I would recommend anyone to seek New Canadian for plumbing work as they're definitely my new go-to people for any plumbing issues.

    Flooded Basement

Got home from running errands a couple of Saturdays ago to find a small lake in my basement, water seeping up from the floor drain. Luckily the drain is located on the unfinished side, where the floor is poured concrete but the sight of all that water was still a shock. We had had a recent plumbing problem a few weeks earlier, and had contacted another big name in plumbing only to be sorely disappointed in the shoddy service and failure to complete a simple job. So this time we decided to try New Canadian Drain and Plumbing. Best choice we could have made. We contacted the office and were treated courteously and with great consideration. They advised us that a technician would be arriving at around 6:00. Malik, the technician, arrived on time and proceeded to start the diagnosis. It took a while, but using his camera equipment he scoped out the condition of the pipes and found that the 50-year old clay pipe leading to the sewer line had collapsed and we were basically getting raw sewage backing up in our basement. Malik explained our options simply and efficiently, and wrote out the contract, explaining each detail of the work involved and the price, as well as the rebate we would be eligible for because we were installing a back-flow valve to protect against future floods. The whole deal was arranged very quickly, and Malik's confident assurance that we would have working plumbing by Monday evening made us feel better in a bad situation. We just had to get through the next 48 hours with no plumbing! Luckily with in-laws and a Tim Horton's just around the corner we came up with a plan, but decided that we could leave the house unoccupied in case things got worse. Which they did. Sunday morning, in spite of us not using the toilet or running any water, the lake was deeper and larger, and was starting to spread. While I started with the shop-vac to remove what would amount to 300 gallons of water, my wife called Malik to see if he could help. Although it was his day off, and keep in mind that it was Grey Cup Sunday, Malik came around with a cap for the drain. H explained that our neighbours pipe and ours both joined the city line in the same place and we must be getting their back-flow. I continued to pump for a few more hours, and no more water came in, so the cap worked. Monday morning the crew showed up on time and started work in sub-zero weather. By the evening they had the pipe repaired, but silt and mud had got in through the broken section and was blocking the flow to the city pipe. This didn't sound like good news. However, after a couple of phone calls they arranged for Malik to come by with an auger. At 9:00 p.m. he was at the bottom of a 7 foot hole running an auger through the blocked pipe. In no time he had the water flowing through and made good on his promise that we would have working plumbing by Monday evening. All in all I can say that New Canadian came through on everything they promised, when they promised, and at the price they promised. The service from both the office and field staff was courteous and professional, with frequent call backs to make sure everything was going as planned. Malik was amazing, and at no time did we feel like we were on our own in a bad situation. I would have no problem contacting this company again for any plumbing job and would also recommend them to any family and friends who need excellent service at a reasonable price.
