    roots in sewer line

I called New Canadian initially for a second opinion. Steve arrived on time and walked me through what he was doing. He came to the same conclusion as my first estimate and was competitive so I decided to go with New Canadian. They were scheduled to start at 9, I received a call at 10:30 saying they would be there at 11:30. At 3:30 I received a call saying that they were not going to make it and they would have to do it the next day. Fine enough... the next day arrived and work went started... New Canadian and the other estimate differed in where they were going to dig... New Canadian was going to go from the top of my stairs and dig down where as the other company was going to dig from the drive. Everything was going well until I was told they could not get to the rest of the blockage from the steps and they were going to have to dig a second hole in the drive (as per the original estimate) AND that is was going to cost me double the cost because now it was two holes... which they told me as I had a hole in my front steps and no water drainage... basically over a barrel. While working I had to step out so I asked the guys working if they would be finished that day... at this point a man who I never met who was not working on the job turned to me and bluntly said "you will get what they told you" turned back around and offered up nothing else. Well I was just asking a question, I am the customer and this guy who I guess is the boss basically told me to mind my own business. The work itself is very satisfactory, the guys were nice aside from whoever the boss was, I am upset that the job cost doubled when the other company would have done it differently and probably got the job done for half the cost. I'm glad my drain works and hopefully I won't have to call anybody in about this again. In response to below: my rating is not low... it is not a stellar score, but I am not trashing either, I am in the middle in each category... I stated I am satisfied with the work, my score says I am satisfied, just not over the moon satisfied... what do you want? I was charged over double of my initial quote, my quote says 12 feet of pipe replaced and I see you now replaced 6 feet... not 12 as you said in the increased invoice. Please learn that a average score is not a trashing score, it just means I wasn't blown away by the service... I think that is fair to anyone who was given a quote for $2600 and then told it will cost $5800 mid job... would you be thrilled if your mechanic said it will cost $1000 but while your car is on the lift he says nope... $2000... of course not...

    Answer from pro:

Hi Dan, When we came to your site to begin the work on your property, we started by replacing your building trap under your stairs which is the first thing that has to be done. Secondly, we did a camera inspection and discovered that your pipe was broken under your neighbor’s driveway and we replaced it, approximately 6 ft. If another company was telling you that they would have to dig on your neighbor’s property first than they would have been telling you the incorrect way to fix the problem. You always have to take out the building trap first and install double cleanouts, and from those cleanouts, you can inspect the condition of your pipes both to the inside of your house and to outside on your property. While the owner was at your site busy supervising his team, you mentioned that he turned his back on you. When you asked him if the job would be finished that same day, the owner informed you that “The job would be completed as promised” and after re-assuring you by telling you this, he continued to supervise his team which is completely different from your interpretation of his response as being blunt and unreceptive. Overall, the main importance is that the work was done efficiently and you state that you are satisfied with our job and finishing so the low rating based on what you are saying is unwarranted.

    install new water line

When faced with a dramatic break in an old water line in a crawl space where access is extremely confined we knew there could be difficulty finding anyone to take on this nasty job,and indeed one plumber did turn it down. With New Canadian our troubles were over. Not only did they schedule the job for the nearest possible date(a weekend no less) but they did it in the worst weather of the winter. There were no upcharges even though the work was much worse than they'd envisioned, and they left the site looking as though nothing had happened there. Despite the rigours of the job,all the guys were polite and uncomplaining. There probably aren't many native born Canadians who would take on this sort of work; we were quite moved to see such determination and persistence, and gratified by the high quality of the work. We chose this company because of the ratings on Homestars. We would choose them again because now we've had first hand experience. These guys are the best.Thank you Malik and Marcus.

    Main drain

I live in cummer and bayview area (Conacher dr) and I had problem with my main drain. I find Canadian drain company online and ask for help. They came very shortly and help me with that. They were so professional and kind. It was a really big help for me. The pricing was also reasonable. I strongly recommend them.

    A few upgrades

I have had a plumber come in two months ago from this company and gave us a quote for about $4,300 for all the work that needs to be done to the house. He said it would cost $1000 for the main floor and the rest will go towards the basement work. We decided to go ahead with the main floor work and a little of bit of the basement work so we called New Canadian Plumbing, we requested the same plumber that gave us the quote and told them what we needed done but the person on the phone said it was ok, if they didn't have the equipment they would get it when they get to work. Instead, we got a different plumber who happens to have the same first name, there was some confusion there as I believe he thought it was only a quote and he came in gave us a price for one of the items and was putting his shoes back on ready to leave until I stared at him and asked him what he was doing, and he said call us when you are ready. I guess there was a misunderstanding there as we were prepared to do more work than he expected. (Even though we already have a quote from them, why would I want a second quote from the same company?) - replace kitchen faucet (completed) - add dishwasher line (completed) - rough in for washer and dryer to back porch - video drain of the basement drain - cover drain holes in the basement - add discharge tube to water heater But only the first two things were done as the plumber that came in said he doesn't have the camera and it's a lot of work to do the rest. Well that's why we called them to do in the first place. The first plumber gave us a few suggestions on how to do the rough ins but the second plumber didn't seem to want to do it because he said we have to think about it - we thought about it for two months. I wanted to do all the work listed above in one shot as it would of been cheaper to do instead of calling them again to do the rest of the work. I already emailed this company about my concerns regarding this issue but obviously their customer service and communication isn't great as I didn't get a reply or follow up regarding the work I requested 3 times. I guess I have to find another plumbing company that are a little bit more organized.

    shower leak

I have decided to work with this company best one the reviews but unfortunately I had a terrible experience with New Canadian Drain & Plumbing Ltd the plumber made my small leak a huge problem. Let me explain you: I call for a leak from the shower valve and to change the faucet. The plumber told that we have to break the wall that standard to access to the pipe so I said do what you have to do to fixe it, by the time he don’t have any faucet so I’m going to buy one when I came back I found a ENORME hole in the bathroom and my bathtub is damage by the work he did (see picture). Just for info he should not break more than 3 tiles normally. So the plumber came fixe something that cost 450$ but know the damage he left will cost me 1500$ at the end of the day my faucet will cost me 2000$ crazy think happen fast. The guy was nice but unfortunately that not enough, the 4 handymen I have contact, told me that they don’t understand why the plumber did that. They keep telling me are you sure this guy was a licensed plumber. So that my experience with New Canadian Drain & Plumbing Ltd. I don’t do this kind of comment but I have to let know people to avoid what I’m feeling. Finally after their intervention my water pressure lost a lot of power?

    Answer from pro:

Hi Willy, when you initially called our office, you booked an appointment with us for an estimate to replace your leaky shower valve. Our plumber was dispatched and he gave you quotes to replace the valve (Company- supply or customer-supplied). You decided not to go ahead with our quote so our plumber left, free of charge. You then called our office back one month later asking for the same quote which obviously remained the same. You agreed with the price and went with the option of you supplying the valve and decided to go ahead and set up an appointment with us that same day. When our plumber came out to your site that same day, he informed you that he would have to cut an opening in the wall by the shower to access the leak. He also informed you that he would cut the wall in stages to diagnose the leak. You agreed and informed him to begin. After the wall was open, due to an extensive leak from your copper pipe, our plumber advised you to replace the copper line for the shower and the faucet. He gave you the option, once again, to either supply the faucet or he could supply the faucet as he was equipped with faucets in his company vehicle. You opted for the less-expensive option and informed our plumber that you would go and purchase one yourself (which you falsified in your review). That day, our plumber replaced a 5 ft section of copper pipe inside your wall behind the shower (which you did not mention in your review either), replaced your shower valve and your faucet. Our plumber was at your site for a total of 4 hours that day and charged you $300+hst (not $350+hst as you mentioned in your review) which is more than reasonable. He also made another visit after that to do the finishings (install handle and spout) which you refused to pay for. You were satisfied with our services up until you contacted your handyman who informed you that he would charge you $1500 to fix your tiles, which we are not responsible for. You contacted our office two weeks after the work was completed and stated that you wanted us to refer a contractor to you who would be able to fix the tiles for a cheaper cost than your contractor, in which we agreed to do because what contractor charges $1500 to replace 8 tiles and a bag of concrete???. You quickly changed your mind and demanded a full refund from us threatening to post a negative review if we did not do so. To sum it all up, our plumber went above and beyond to repair your plumbing issue. He was at your site a total of three times (take into consideration gas and travelling time), a total of 5 hours and 15 minutes, replaced your copper line to the shower and eliminated the leak for a minimal charge. Your review contains very dishonest and misleading content and we do not appreciate the fact that you are trying to tarnish our reputation by manipulating the truth.

Replace burst pipes, insulate and dry wall

My garage door was left open by mistake. The extreme cold caused the pipes to burst in 3 places. New Canadian responded the same day, replacing the pipes, insulating them, and covering the area in dry wall. Excellent job!

    replace kitchen sink faucet

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Jocelyn for the excellent service work he provided on Jan 22nd 2013. Our kitchen is very old and needed an urgent repair in a very tight space. This is our second time having Jocelyn in, and he will definitely be my first call next time I need plumbing work done. He is very friendly, and went the extra distance to ensure our problems were solved. He was punctual, the price was exactly as quoted, and he encouraged me to follow up with him at any time.
