We hired this company to move stuff out of our house for storing in our garage and for giving away. Hussein explained the whole process and cost and it followed his script exactly. Jeff and Graydon were amazing, personable workers. Thanks guys!

Working with Rent-a-son was a seamless transaction from start to finish. The estimate and booking process was simple, informative and Erika gave us the confidence that we didn't have to call anyone else. The quote came to us via email and within 24 hours we were booked with Rent-a-Son. On the morning of the move, the team arrived ready to go - working efficiently to get everything packed up in a timely manner. On the drop off end, the team was so helpful getting the items into the house and ensured all the goods were in perfect condition - they did all of this in an hour! (They had an hour commute between locations and still kept the schedule as promised!) The move was exactly what they quoted with the bonus of great personalities from head office and the moving team. We would definitely recommend rent-a-son to anyone moving. They are honest, efficient and delightful to work with. We look forward to using their service on our next move.

This company is unbelievable. They are courteous, prompt and customer service driven. I had 4 great guys show up and all of them where so courteous and respectful. They made the whole moving process easier and I just cannot commend them enough. Even my other family members were blown away by their customer service! Don't even hesitate to hire this company for your moving need, whether it be long or short distance, I highly recommend them.

I used Rent-a-Son for my move from Ottawa to Toronto. I was fortunate about the flexibility in my move date because I was able to do a consolidated move (the truck was already in Ottawa, not my truck was shared with anyone else). The movers took great care with my stuff and even took care of the walls - great because I'm a renter and have to pay for any damage to walls. They wrapped up my furniture when needed and even the glass doors to my bookcase arrived in one piece. The move was completed in about three hours total, minus the driving time.

SUPERB! The estimate was very close to the final cost. Everything was as smooth as can be. And the guys were good humoured and worked quickly. most highly recommend Rent-a-Son.

I have used Rent-a-Son twice now, and for both times the crews worked well together, were infallibly polite and friendly, and handled the move extremely well. They took better care of my items that I would have, and were consummately professional. I worked with Erika to set up the quotes and logistics for both of the moves, and I have nothing but praise for her. Correspondence was always speedy and she took quite a bit of time to work with me on my second move to ensure all went smoothly (the move was on December 31st and everyone wanted the move to go quickly and without hitches). In terms of cost, hiring reputable movers is not inexpensive, but in the second, and more major of the two moves, the bill came in under-quote, in large part to the efficiency and competence of the work crew. I work at a non-profit and have a commensurate salary, but I will happily hire Rent-a-Son again for my next move. We have been impressed, and rest assured, the next time we move, we will once again look to Rent-A-Son.

We hired Rent-a-Son based on the wonderful reviews on Homestars alone, so perhaps we should have asked for estimates from other companies. That is, we found that Rent-a-Son was expensive plus they went well over their estimate, which does NOT include GST so that is also a bit sneaky. My wife and I hired them in November 2013 to move us from a 1BR condo to another 1BR condo plus a storage drop off. We had already packed everything into boxes (except our furniture). On the positive, the sons were courteous and careful. Notably, our furniture was wrapped safely and they protected the floors, walls, contents and elevators etc. Our estimator Hussein was very responsive with his emails and calls about the estimate. Furthermore, he was open to discuss the issues that we had with our move (see below). He promised a credit for our next move and that we will have a better experience. We appreciated his follow-up. Here are the negatives, roughly chronologically: 1. There was no need for 3 sons (i.e. 1 foreman and 2 workers). They charge by the number of sons and 2 movers would have been sufficient. 2. They were slow so that meant a bigger bill. At times, I was moving boxes faster than the 2 workers combined. 3. There were a few instances when the 2 workers disappeared for 15 minutes or so, leaving me to work alone. In fact, the foreman said to us that his 2 workers were taking a long time to meet us (before driving to the new condo). 4. Instead of settling the final bill when asked, the foreman kept talking; so, I had to stop him and ask again. But he still charged me for his 15 minutes of talking. 5. The foreman had the audacity to say that they took "no breaks" despite the fact that we bought lunch for them. (I traded emails with the estimator who credited us for 15 minutes; however, I will let readers judge if that is fair.) Despite the expensive final bill, we would include them in the bidding process for our next move; that is, we are happy that Rent-a-Son accomplished the main goal which is to move our possessions properly, safely and with no damages or losses. However, if we were to select them again, then we will be supervising them closely during that move.

A friend of mine had to leave Toronto for a job opportunity in Vancouver. She had been dealing with another moving company to have her things brought to Vancouver but once she got there, the moving company seemed unresponsive and she grew increasingly concerned. I heard that Rent A Son was reputable and contacted them on her behalf. I spoke to Amanda and she took me through the process and promptly provided accurate quotes that included delivery dates and responded to any questions I had. I could tell she knew what she doing. The decision was made to switch to Rent-A-Son. They weren’t the cheapest rates but not the highest rates either. It was nearly $3000 for 30 boxes and a bed, but it arrived safely and reasonably quickly considering the short notice. A can of paint exploded which caused a big mess, and a container with cleaning solution opened up - but I should have been more careful in packing those items. The stuff traveled a long way and went off and on several different trucks. All in all, she was quite happy…and most happy about having her bed, which the guys set up, which I thought was very nice.

The Rent-a-son team were amazing, from requesting a quote (which was delivered in a timely and thorough manner) to customer service calls prior to and after the move. However, my 3 movers were unbelievable - they were professional, clean, kind, courteous, thoughtful and any anxiety over moving (what I feel) is my precious cargo, dissipated within moments of seeing them in action. I am moving again in 3 months and am requesting the same team. Thank you to Rent-a-Son - I could not have been happier and will be recommending them to everyone!!

I needed to move the partial contents of a 1BR apartment from Toronto to BC's Lower Mainland, so as far as X-Canada moves go, this was a small job. In fact, it was apparently too small for some of the other reputable movers, since they didn't even return my call or offer me a quote. Amanda at Rent-a-Son called me back within an hour, listened to what I needed done and was more than happy to send me a quote. When I wanted to make changes, she sent me an adjusted quote very quickly. Amanda was excellent at listening to what I wanted done and providing a game plan to fit my needs. The movers themselves (whose names I've forgotten—sorry guys) were very efficient and had no problems when I decided to add things which weren't ready to be packed at the last minute. They took great care to protect my valuables. For the record, EVERYTHING arrived in exactly the same state before the move. I'm sure I could have found someone cheaper, but really—when it comes to moving your valued stuff from one end of the country to another, is it worth skimping? I was willing to pay to have things done right and without question, Rent-a-Son (and their associates in BC, Crescent Moving) did everything right.
