    2 bdrm + den move

    At the end of January this year I moved from a 2 bdrm + den apt to a newer townhouse and contacted Rent A Son to get a quote. From the first few moments on the phone with Erika, I KNEW I had called the right company! The quote process was easy, efficient and in-depth. Erika was so very helpful in determining my specific needs and gave me a quote that was right on the money! In fact, based on the final bill, I actually ended up paying a little less, which was awesome, given the special hell my move presented! (Lots of stairs, lots of furniture that needed to be broken down, etc) Come moving day, three strapping young men showed up right on time (several minutes early actually) and got right down to work. Aslan was amazing! He managed his crew (damn I wish I could remember the other two fellas names, they were equally awesome!) perfectly! It was like watching poetry in motion! Fast, efficient, STRONG as bulls and so pleasant! I was blown away not only by their ability to get things done so well, but by how extremely courteous and pleasant they all were! They took exceptional care with my belongings. Probably even more so than I would have done. I had just had shoulder surgery and was unable to help as much as I would have liked, and they were so respectful of that and even went so far as to ensure that I wasn't trying to do more than I was capable of doing. The move was done quickly and when we arrived at my new home not only did they get everything in to its respective locations quickly, they even helped me set up the larger items that I would never have been able to have done myself, given my injury. I don't know if this is a normal procedure, but I sure was grateful that they took the time and the effort to accommodate my needs! I would VERY HIGHLY recommend Rent A Son to any and all who would like a pleasantly memorable moving experience, and in fact have recommended them to two friends that have since used their services as well, and who are now also raving about them! When I moved out to Toronto from Calgary 6 years ago, we used one of those big name companies. it cost a fortune, they were iffy at best. late, lazy and had no respect for our belongings. when they finally arrived, 1 day late, things were broken, scratched and even some boxes were missing! the process of having these things rectified was an absolute nightmare! Rent A Son got my belongings to my new home without a hitch! If you require a local moving company, these are the people to call!! I can't say enough good things about them!!     Move

    Move crew were very time efficient, courteous and professional. Beware however that they charge a minimum 2 hour travel time to and from their warehouse. So you are essentially paying them before they even start the job and after as well. They moved me in 5.5 hours including travel between the 2 homes yet I paid for 7.5 hours. This was in addition to a fuel surcharge.

We do, however, like any moving company that pays its labour for travel time, have to charge for it. This was stated clearly throughout your booking process which included a preliminary estimate, a formal estimate, a sales order and your signed Bill of Lading which doesn't include the email you sent your moving coordinator Erika looking for clarification on this fee. We feel we go above and beyond to keep communication and pricing crystal clear which is why we have this three tier booking process. Thank you for using our services.

    POD load

    Recently used Rent-a-Son to assist in a POD load. They were excellent and highly efficient. I'd highly recommend them for a similar job and will use them for all future moves.

    Move from a townhouse & locker to new house

    I can't stop telling people what a great experience this was. I initially was flustered at the high price & restrictions on moving items (boxes & lots of padding), but when the day came, the team that showed up was: a) strong!; b) extremely pleasant (the team leader just turned 30 and has been to 30+ countries...makes the convo easier when you're between loads); c) very accomodating. We spent a week boxing and wrapping as much as we could, but were still worried about the various odds and ends. The team not only came with an abundance of extra cardboard and furniture blankets, but with a willingness to just get the job done. In fact, they were probably more determined than I would have been on my own. I could probably have managed similar work over double the time for half the cost (rent movers, rent own van, etc.), but getting it done in 1 go and the COMPLETE lack of effort was worth every nickel.

    Moving

    We have moved many times over the last few years & we can honestly say, moving with Rent A Sons was possibly the best experience we have ever had with movers. Our team was prompt, efficient & such a pleasure to work with! Our items were properly protected, no damages on anything whatsoever & they were extremely cautious when setting down our furniture on our new hardwood floors. They were also great with my dog, who I think missed them when they left. :) I will recommend Rent A Son to anyone that is in need of a mover. The costs were extremely reasonable & the estimate sent was pretty close to my final invoice. Thank you! To David in Mississauga - I personally would love the crew to take anytime they need when it comes to protecting my items. If that wasn't what you were looking for (or thought it took too much time), I'm not too sure why you opted for that service.

    Moving units within a Building

    I was so impressed by Rent-a-Son for my move within my buildling and have referred to friends already. They were so honest, professional, and timely in providing my estimate. On the day of the move, they were running late due to traffic and the person who handled my estimate - who I had spoken to a few times - called me to let me know their staff was running late. I very much appreciated the honesty and openess. Upon arrival, they were very efficient with the time we had working with me to prioritize tasks. They took care of all my furniture as if it were their own and I could not be happier with the move!

    Moving Services

    Without a doubt, thanks to Rent-A-Son, this was the most stressful move I have ever experienced. The final load time ended up 50% higher than estimated and the final bill $400 more than quoted, despite having them provide an on-site visit pre-estimate. It took a ridiculous 10 hours to move the contents of a well packed 2-bdrm house to same size apartment, plus I had to move several van loads by myself. The main reason? Their decision to wrap absolutely every piece of furniture in bulky blankets, despite being told not to and agreeing not to! Their subsequent claim was it was to avoid hitting walls during the move but the bulky blankets severely limit space in truck and increases time charges phenomenally and without notice. Not to mention every other mover loads the furniture into the truck and THEN covers with blankets as required. They then blamed me for lack of communication because I had no choice but to go over to new apartment to secure elevator beyond mutually agreed upon time due to their excessive blanket wrapping and time over-run. Not sure how a lack of communication is the cause when a colleague remained on the site during my absence and was in constant communication with me and them. Definitely do not recommend – they are the most expensive mover contacted, not worth the higher price, and clearly unable to handle average sized moves or customer service as their responses to my concerns were more accusatory and self-righteous than compromising.

We are so very proud of the work that we do and more importantly of the people that do it so it is easy to want to get defensive(but we wont)! Fortunately, due to the extremely hard work of everyone on our team, we don't face the strenuous task of responding to negative reviews too often as proven by our track record and our corporate values. Without trying to defend ourselves on each issue or debate the overage in price mentioned, I just want to say that we are proud to be one of few companies that believe in full coverage when it comes to blanket wrapping our customers furniture (And this is completely built into our estimates which are based on industry standards). We use high grade professional moving blankets for a reason and our approach to caring for your belongings is probably why there are no mentions of damages to your belongings. "Draping" items in the truck leaves furniture vulnerable to damage further perpetuating a stigma and reputation of moving companies that we are trying to eliminate. We are sorry that we didn't live up to your expectations. You definitely deserved a smooth and effortless move and we apologize for not being able to give that to you.     garden cleanup, packing and moving

    I initially hired Rent-a-Son to clean up my garden and move some boxes into a storage locker. The Son who cleaned the garden kept cleaning even though it started to drizzle with rain and did a great job. The storage-locker Sons offered to do any other job I needed because they hadn't worked the full time that was budgeted. Many other companies would have charged the hours that were quoted and left early. So when I moved, I was completely confident in hiring Rent-a-Son to pack up my possessions, which included a lot of fragile art and china. They did an amazing job, as did the Sons who came the next day to move everything into their own storage space until my new place became available. I can't praise Rent-a-Son highly enough. All the Sons were punctual and worked steadily -- no coffee breaks. They had a lunch break but I wasn't charged for that time. And if all this isn't recommendation enough, every single one of them was friendly (though always respectful), cheerful and helpful beyond the bounds of the contract. For example, they kindly moved a large item from the third to first floor and also helped me load up my car. All this with smiles and "No problem!" I have been recommending them to all my friends, for both small and large jobs. And no, I don't have shares in the company or know anyone there! Remember that the cost I've had to enter above constitutes a LOT of work, materials and time. Try them out. You'll be delighted. --JL, Toronto

    move of office furniture ,Xerox Workstation and boxes

    Congratulations on a job well done. Charlie and Patrick did a great job for me from Hazelton Lanes t o 175 Bloor Street East : office furniture, a Xerox workstation and filing boxes.Professionalism and attention to detail were very apparent.     Moving from Mississauga

    I was seeking to find a professional company that could move my furniture and equipment at my place to the new house I recently bought. I was pleased by te services they provided and appreciate their dedication and work. I will definitely suggest them to other homeowners.
