I chose Miracle movers based on many reviews I read about different companies and initial contact with some of them. There were many cheaper movers, but I thought Miracle Movers was a company of professionals. So I chose them. Things went on perfect in the beginning, but unfortunately they didn't conclude as expected.
The first issue was with the early timing! Yes, believe me that early delivery can be a problem! I checked with them several times and they assured that long-distance moving takes between 8 to 14 business days, no less and no more. I was moving from Ontario to Manitoba, so I coordinated everything on that basis, to send the stuff, wrap up my other works in Ontario, and be in Manitoba in seven business days, ready to receive my stuff afterwards. However, one day and a half after they picked up my stuff, I received a call on Friday that my furniture will be delivered early in the morning of next business day, which was Monday. So the whole process took 2.5 business days. It was quite an adventure for me to make this happen, and I don't want to tell you the details of my travel and how I booked the elevator in that busy time of the year. Anyhow, I was in destination early in the morning of the delivery date.
Then the second problem came up: they called me at the delivery time to inform me that their truck is too big to come to downtown Winnipeg, so I have to pay an extra cost and they will rent a smaller truck, move my stuff to that truck, and deliver them later that day. Again, to make a long story short, I somehow rescheduled the elevator, being shocked how a professional moving company doesn't know how they should deliver furniture in the downtown of a main city like Winnipeg. When they finally arrived, I resisted to pay the extra fee, but I figured that there is an article in their contract that allows them to charge extra fees whenever they claim they cannot move a 70 inch truck in the neighborhood. And you have no authority to say why should I pay this extra $250.
The third problem was damaged stuff. They had dropped boxes, broken our well-wrapped artifacts, and destroyed my bike's steer. I don't know how, but my bike steer had rotated 180 degrees relative to the front wheel! It took me five minutes to get my head around what they have done to it.
Fourth, I was quite doubtful about the final fee, which is based on the weight of the stuff, because after getting the initial quote, I got rid of many heavy stuff and I expected to end up with much less costs, but it had not happened. So I asked them to send me the scale certificate, which moving companies are supposed to send before charging you. It took days to receive the certificate. To my surprise, the scale certificate was an internal document, not an independent certificate issued by a third party, as they had told me. I don't know if it is accepted to provide an internal document as a proof or not, but I believe they have overcharged me. And it was too late to discuss it. And more importantly, there is no way to prove any claims after delivery. I may call an authority to follow this issue though, if I find a time.
Overall, I tried to be very careful in choosing the company, checking all the applicable conditions with them meticulously, and planning a smooth move, but the result was disappointing.
