    Tuck Pointing

Our 85 year old home had a fairly significant "shift" in its brick work, as well as recessed mortar that had become much more recessed over the years. Joe and James arrived, hand chiselled the joints, and beautifully matched the variations in our mortar. We are thrilled with the result, and they were a pleasure to have around the house for the week. Having seen a lot of really poor tuckpointing in my line of work, I am pleased that I have A&A to recommend to any homeowners needing attention. Thanks!

    Answer from pro:

Thanks Katie & Matt! The brick pattern on your house is known as Flemish Bond, which is quite rare in Toronto. It makes a very strong wall and in this case a LOT of tuckpointing. I'll pass this review on to Joe & James, who really do take pride in their work. --Andy

    Rebuild chimney

Andy provided a detailed quote to remove our 81 year old, very tall, brick and stucco chimney. He was refrred to me from a neighbour whose stately chimney was also recently rebuilt. She was very happy with her new chimney. A & A had to remove the crumbling chimney and then rebuild from the roof up. His work crew was professional, polite, tidy and helpful. They were so tidy that no one would know that we had any work done at all! His crew sealed off the fireplace on the inside to prevent anything from dropping into our home before they began work. The colour of the stucco matches the house perfectly and Andy followed up to ensure that we're happy with our new chimney. And we are!

replacing of bricks and removing a brick wall

I was attracted by their website and not disappointed when I contracted A&A with the job. Shortly after I placed my first phone call Brad came to my house on a Sunday. The job itself was done on time and by knowledgeable and friendly workers.

To the Team at A & A Masonry, We would like to thank you for the great job you carried out at our home recently (tuck-pointing and the addition of sandstone on our front veranda). Your team was professional, courteous, and hardworking, working solidly through until the job was complete. You responded to our various additional requests efficiently and politely. Tuck Pointing

A & A Masonry did a great job tuck pointing damaged brickwork on an older house that I had purchased. They were very easy to work with throughout the whole process and ensured that I was happy with their work before they left. They took the time to explain the process the rationale behind their work. The work was completed on time and for a very reasonable price. My expectations were definitely exceeded.

Tuck pointing and chimney cap replacement

Overall I found A&A Masonry a decent company. The sales person was good to work with and so to was the owner of the company. However, the crew that worked on my house clearly didn't havetheir best day. They missed some areas, grinded some areas but forgot to replace the mortar, and left a bit of debris around the house. I will say that the owner was very recpetive to my complaints and had the crew back bright and early the next morning. They were pleasant and made special effort to fix everything when they returned. Having said that, I would have expected it was done right the first time, particulalry because their prices are on the higher side versus other contractors. In addition, I had another masonry expert that I trust at my house the week after their work and he suggested they could have possibly done better at colour matching the mortar and on the type of mortar they chose to use. Nevertheless, you should likely add these folks to those you interview for your own job...just keep in mind that being top-ranked doesn't mean you're perfect. They also have a $1500 minimum for jobs so keep that in mind for smaller projects.

    Rebuild of two chimneys

When our chimney brick started to crumble we weren't sure who to trust. We took a leap of faith and called A&A Masonry based solely on their excellent Homestars reviews. Although there were a few hiccups along the way with the installation and brick colour, we were pleased that Andy and his son made every effort to make sure we were satisfied with the final finished product. They take responsibility which so many companies today do not. Thank you Andy.

    Wall replacement

Professional.fast, efficient, knowledgeable.I was treated as a valued client from the moment of my first enquiry.I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending A&A. The crumbling wall made the working conditions beyond filthy, and the crew all said it was the worst disintegrated wall they had ever dealt with. They remained courteous & respectful despite the horrendous dust & dirt. They worked long & hard. The new block wall went up quickly & precisely,.The team worked together like a well oiled machine,& the cleanup was thorough. We even had the pleasure of a followup call the very day the job was completed, and a site inspection with an extra finishing touch. Call them. You won't regret it.

    Chimney rebuild and wall tuckpointing

A big thank you to Andy, Joe, James and A & A Masonry. Our crumbling chimney needed to be replaced and due to water issues, we needed a significant amount of tuckpointing on our exterior brick walls. We were pleasantly surprised to learn that work would begin right away, two days after we decided to proceed with A&A Masonry. Joe and James began the job on a Friday and worked through the weekend to finish on Sunday. We were very impressed with A&A’s workmanship, flexibility and speed. Andy, Joe and James were friendly and knowledgeable. They even gave us good advice on how to solve our water issue. After the work was complete, the job site was clean and tidy. We definitely recommend A&A Masonry.
