Garage Design & Organization

  • As the garage offers an open and versatile space, going through the garage design and organization before renovation can be very helpful. With proper planning, you can make room for additional storage, a small workshop, a mini home gym or even a functional workshop along with space for your car parking.
  • During this time, you can also explore the different garage doors styles like a carriage garage door, slide-to-the-side door, hinged door and much more. Along with the door, a contractor can also help you pick the right garage door panel. While the exact cost will depend on your project, the highest reported cost for garage design and organization in Vancouver was $6,000.

Garage Doors & Hardware

Condensation on window causing mold on drywall below

Dave 18/11/2025 - 9:38 AM

I recently had a contractor put in a Silestone window ledge in my condo. I specifically called out that the windows get a lot of condensation and was picking a material that could withstand this. The contractor used a thin layer of drywall to create a flat (but not level) surface to mount the Silestone. Now that the weather is cooler, there is lots of condensation on the windows and I can see green mold forming on the surface plaster he used over the drywall facing. I'm concerned about it getting worse over the winter. How can I prevent this from getting worse over the winter? I'll probably need the work completely redone. How can it be done differently to create a better mounting surface and properly seal the ledge so this doesn't happen again?

Front window condensation

Ramona Pannewitz 28/10/2025 - 1:32 PM

We just noticed that our front double paned window has condensation forming at the top of it. It is a 20 year old vinyl window that probably has a broken seal. This living room window is a larger middle one, with two smaller ones on each side. Can this be fixed? Thanks

basement walk out door to the garden

Anonymous user 10/10/2025 - 1:02 PM

I'm experiencing cold air leak through my basement door due to a large gap. Despite trying various weather foams, the issue persists because the gaps are too substantial. I suspect the door and frame aren't properly aligned, likely due to the previous owner's DIY installation. Should I consider replacing the door or exploring other solutions to address this issue?
