Drain Clog or Blockage – Clear

  • A drainage contractor can help you unclog any blockage in your French drain or other drainage pipes. Drain clogs or blockage can be spotted easily and usually cause slow draining or may occasionally result in overflows.
  • It’s important to get these unclogged in time as delays can result in more build-up of substances that cause blockage and you may need more extensive repairs for the same. From drain cleaners to drain snakes – there are many ways to unclog drains and your drainage contractor will help you with the best solution depending on the type of blockage in your drainage.

Sump Pump or Interior Foundation Drains – Install

  • Sump pumps are especially found in basements or lower areas and can automatically detect rising water levels and flush out excess water through pipes.
  • If you live in a low-lying area or have a basement, a drainage contractor can help you install these sump pumps and interior foundation drains.

Basement Drainage Channels – Install

  • Another essential installation in your basement is basement drainage channels which use perforated pipes to flush out excess water from groundwater or surface water which can eventually seep into your basement.
  • Installing these can not only prevent basement flooding but also protect your property against damp walls and mold.

Drain Line Breakage – Camera Locate

  • As a drain line breakage is not easy to locate, drainage contractors use a camera to locate the damage and repair it accordingly.
  • This method comes in handy when the drain line is just below the surface or covers a large area – cameras can save time in detecting leaks or breakage so the repairs can be done immediately.

Foundation Drainage – Install or Replace

  • A foundation drainage system is crucial for any home or building as it prevents water from pooling around the structure.
  • Over time, you may need to install a new foundation drainage system or replace the existing one to make it more efficient and a drainage contractor can help you out with the same.

Basement Drainage Channels – Repair

  • If you need repairs in your basement drainage channels, it’s best to hire a professional to do so – a drainage contractor can help identify the weak areas and problems and fix them before any damage is caused.
  • As these repairs require experience and expertise along with proper equipment and licenses, it’s best not to try DIY projects as wrong steps can cause water steeping or basement flooding, which can be more expensive to repair. For the average costs of hiring drainage contractors in Canadian cities, refer to the table above.

Why is water from my kitchen sink draining into the laundry machine and the other way around?

Anonymous user 09/04/2026 - 8:59 AM

The water in my kitchen sink drains really slowly and a couple of weeks ago it even backed up into the washing machine. I had a plumber check it out and he said it was due to grease and food buildup. It's been a week and I'm still having the same problem. Any tips on how to stop this from happening again?

Slow leak somewhere resulting in high water bills

Anonymous user 17/03/2026 - 4:27 PM

I have a slow leak somewhere in my house. Every two months I my water bill spikes to $250-$300. It must be a slow leak somewhere but I've had a few people in that says it might be this or that but haven't found a fix. I've shut off water to the backyard and front yard so those pipes aren't the issue. I've tested the toilets and they aren't leaking. How can I find what the issue is?

New shiny bathroom

Anonymous user 17/03/2026 - 4:14 PM

Bathroom is completely gutted down to the plywood. Floor not prepped. How long to install: -New shower kit (base, walls, doors) and new faucet, same style as current, shower head needing to go up a few inches on the wall and the drain needs to be moved 6-8 inches. - New tub and faucet (lets say the drain needs to be moved 6-8 inches, just to be safe) and the water line moved as faucet would be in a different spot but still on the tub, not in the wall. - Connect a new vanity sink. Vanity, vanity top and faucet already installed. Connection only needed. Let's say drain doesnt line up perfectly, (I think they never do but I'm not a plumber) Thank you!
