    Squirrels Came Back

We called Gates because we heard a squirrel in the attic. They came and closed up "all" of the entry points and put in a one way trap to catch the squirrel. They removed the squirrel and gave us a 1 year guarantee that if the squirrel came back that it would be removed. 2 months later another squirrel was back in my attic. We called them to come remove it. They sent some one out and looked at all of the entry points that they had sealed up and said that all of the entry points were still sealed and there are no new entry points and for us to keep an ear open to ensure there was indeed something in the attic. Every night I would hear scratching. 1 month later I took the day off work and called them again so that I could tell them where I hear the squirrels. someone came, climbed on my roof and left a sticky note on my door and that said there are no entry points and that it wasn't squirrels and that it may be other rodents. I ended up having to climb into my attic to set a trap and sure enough I caught a squirrel. Thanks a lot Gates. Waste of money.

Hi leehitachi1, unfortunately I am unable to locate a record of having performed any work for you in our records. However if we did perform work for you, I am terribly sorry that my technician was unable to find the squirrel entry hole during our latest visit and for the aggravation this has caused you. I would like to offer you your money back (under our money back guarantee policy) and return to close the squirrel entry hole on the roof at no cost. Please email me at bradgates@gateswildlifecontrol.com to arrange for the return of your money and to schedule an appointment for us to close the hole on the roof. Please accept my deepest apology for any inconvenience we have caused you. UPDATE MAY 27, 2016 (2 weeks later): we have still not identified leehitachi1 as a client of ours and they have not contacted me to have their money refunded. Brad Gates, B.Sc. A Squirrelly Situation

Tis the season! We had a squirrel chew through a roof vent and after patching it up ourselves she chewed through another vent immediately...I swear I could hear her building bunk beds for her pups so it was time to call in the pros. AAA Gates was recommended to us through a facebook group (who all rave about them too) and true to form they were right on time and super professional! Blake examined the situation and was back with a thorough quote in no time explaining all the ins and outs of the process and guarantee. He went ahead and replaced the chewed roof vents and caged the rest to prevent any future re-entry by our squirrel friends. With a one-way door for their exit in place, he'll be back tomorrow to take that off and seal it up for good. All work is guaranteed which is comforting - if they happen to get back in we're covered! My favourite part about the experience was that you can really tell that not only did Blake know about removing animals - he really knew a lot about the animals themselves and genuinely cared about their safety - our squirrel friend was not happy to see him and when we asked if he gets bitten a lot he simply said 'that's the trade-off for grabbing an animal before it jumps to it's death' - as in, he could leave it but he'd rather have the bite than let the animal get hurt. Highly recommend these guys - they do good work and love the animals too which is super important :). Aliki

Hi Aliki, what an amazing review. I cannot thank you enough for not only taking the time to explain our work but for also highlighting our commitment to care for the animals. I also loved the fact that you quoted Blake. I started Gates Wildlife 32 years ago because of my love for wildlife and today every member of my team shares my passion and takes great steps to ensure their safety. Brad Gates, B.Sc. Pest Control

Blake from Gates Wildlife came to remove a mother raccoon and 5 babies from our attic. He was very polite and calm and took the time to explain what he was doing and why. I would highly recommend this company to anyone.

Bird nest and baby squirrel removal from 2 bathroom vents.

AAA Gates Wildlife Control removed a bird's nest (no eggs yet) from one second floor bathroom vent and 'relocated' 5 large baby squirrels from another second floor bathroom vent on the opposite side of the house. The squirrels had to be removed through the attic by disassembling the vent. New flaps and wire cages were then installed outside to prevent future "residents." Service was top notch, friendly and a reasonable price. Will recommend and will use them again in the future.

    Answer from pro:

Hello, thank you for your review of our bird and squirrel removal services. Your job was certainly unique having both birds and squirrels in opposite sides of the house. Thank you also for posting that great picture you took of me holding the baby squirrel. Brad Gates, B.Sc. Owner / President - Awarded HomeStars Best of 2015 & 2016!

Mother Racoon & 5 Baby Racoons!

AAA gates wild life control... I would recommend them to anyone that needed say a highly trained wildlife technician such as Tony who would safely remove 5 baby raccoons from the attic. And place the baby raccoons in a heated box container(with a door flap) & install over the hole a one-way door( with a exit ) to guide & reunite the mother raccoon with the baby raccoons on the roof. The following day Josh another highly trained wildlife technician would tell me the good news that the heated box container was empty. The mother raccoon had reunited with her 5 baby raccoons and had relocated her family to a secondary den. Tony had installed a temporary wire mesh covering of the two holes on the roof and a cap wire mesh covering the chimney hole, ensuring that mother raccoon would not return to the attic. Josh covered the two holes on the roof with metal sheets and reinstalled the wire mesh to raccoon & weather proof them. Thank you Tony & Josh from AAA Gates Wild Life Control

Removing three areas where birds have decided to nest/store food

Gates was super great to deal with - to booking the appointment to coming twice to the property to deal with my bird issue! They went above and beyond to make me happy and cover three areas three stories up on my Victorian to deal with the birds. I highly recommend Gates - Josh was fabulous to deal with!

Hi Ellen, it makes me extremely happy to hear "Gates was super to deal with". In our staff meetings we often talk about treating the customer the way we, ourselves would want to be treated. Your review is testimony to this. Thank you. Brad Gates, B.Sc. Owner / President -Awarded HomeStars Best Of 2015 & 2016

    Racoon removal from attic

Peter did a great job helping us safely evict a racoon from our attic. He installed a one-way trap/exit door, monitored the situation every two days (until the racoon left) and then installed safe guards to keep the racoon(s) from getting back in. All this with a 1-year guarantee! Thank you Peter.

    Answer from pro:

Hi, thank you for highlighting the fact that we monitor our work. It is extremely important to us that we follow up on how the job is progressing to ensure the animals are safe and that the problem is solved. Unfortunately this is not the industry standard. I also like the fact that you mentioned our 1-year guarantee. Brad Gates, B.Sc. Owner / President -Awarded HomeStars Best Of 2015 & 2016

    Removal of squirrel and raccoons

I woke early one morning to the sound of scratching and skittering in the ceiling above my bed. I spent the next two days in denial, thinking that whatever it was would decide to leave on it's own accord. On Day 3, I realized that it was definitely making itself comfortable in my attic and that I needed some help. I called AAA Gates and had a very helpful person carefully explain the process and next steps. She sent Nick out to deal with the problem and he was great. Friendly and knowledgeable, Nick examined my roof and found that I had a squirrel in my attic but also a raccoon in my chimney (which he took a picture of to show me). He installed one-way gates and did a quick fix on my eavestrough while up there. He followed up by examining the roof twice over the next two days to ensure that they were not back and that there were no babies trapped inside. He kept me well informed of how the job was going, Nick was great. I would highly recommend AAA Gates.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Michele Mondoux, you are definitely not alone in wanting to believe that the animal noises you were hearing were not inside the home. Many of our customers live with their wildlife problem for weeks and sometimes months thinking that the critters are on the outside or that they will move out on their own. Unfortunately the longer the animals are allowed to stay the more damage they can cause in the attic. Thank you for your detailed review and for complimenting Nick on a job well done. Squirrel problem

About 5 years ago we had AAA Gates come and seal up an entry area under our eaves that was being used by squirrels to enter our ceiling. When we recently had our roof replaced, the workers inadvertently created a hole in the screening. Once again we could hear the squirrels moving around in our ceiling. We called AAA Gates again, and they came promptly to assess the situation. Nick even arrived early and waited patiently until I got home. He re-screened the area and installed a one-way door in case there were any squirrels and/or babies in there. He returned the next day and determined there was no activity inside and removed the one-way door. At all times it was clear that the animals' health and safety was a priority, which I appreciated. I would definitely recommend this company.

    Answer from pro:

Hi janisbirrel, it is actually pretty common for our previous customers to have animal problems after installing a new roof. When roofers strip the old shingles off the roof they often take our animal proof screening off as well. It usually doesn't take long for the critters to find the opening and move back in. Thank you for your review and for mentioning that "the animals' health and safety was a priority", as you saw it is a major part of who we are. Brad Gates, B.Sc. Raccoons in the chimney

The raccoons have been hanging around for about 12 months until they decided to move in with us. We called in Gates Wildlife and Josh came to our rescue. He showed us how to protect ourselves from further raccoon squatters and is working with us to remove the ones we have down in the bottom of our chimney. Josh is so easy to work with. He is good natured, very knowledgeable, and completely professional. I couldn't ask for a better Wildlife Control partner. Thanks Josh and thanks AAA Gates Wildlife Control.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Nick and Leslie, thank you for your review and for your kind words about Josh. I particularily like your comment "I couldn't as for a better Wildlife Control partner. That says a lot! Brad Gates, B.Sc. Owner / President - Awarded HomeStars Best of 2015 & 2016!
