    Thanks guys!

Never fun to turn on your A/C for the first time this year to find that it isn't cooling the house. After doing some checks myself (changing air filter, batteries on thermostat, cleaning outside coil), I suspected that the refrigerant was low. So, after doing some research on companies on Home Stars, I gave these guys a call. I was able to get an appointment for two days later. The service technician Mario came right on time and confirmed that my system was low on refrigerant. He was upfront about potential costs depending on where the leak was found. Fortunately, the leak was at the service valves...so they were tightened and the refrigerant was topped up. Mario explained how these valves could leak and the system can be monitored for the time being to see if that solves the problem (the A/C unit is only six years old). No sales pressure to buy a new unit or anything like that. We will use these guys again for any future A/C needs. Thanks guys!

    Replacement Air Conditioner

Exceptional Service experience! These guys are Awesome! They came out and inspected my existing system, showed me my options and gave great advice. The install was seemless. I expected with connecting new lines I would have a mess to clean up but NO. I honestly don't know how they did it and in only a few hours. I never take the time to write these reviews but in this case I had to say something...Mario and John, Thanks for everything!

    Answer from pro:

Hey Todd...Thanks for the awesome review! Mario and John are two very skilled individuals who take great pride in their work. I'm not surprised about your "no mess" comment. We often hear that our installation crews leave the homes cleaner than when they showed up. Thank you again for taking the time to write this review. Team Button's!!!

    Furnace/Air conditioning

We had Todd Button's team into our home to install a new Daikin furnace and (our first) A/C. The team was VERY professional, clean work, and a smooth process. My husband and I were very impressed. We have not used the A/C yet but look forward to the option on those hot summer days! All three gas-fitter/installers doing the work were great (sorry to forget your names). We would not hesitate recommending them. Shirley Musclow and Richard Henry

    Answer from pro:

    Central Air Conditioning

I have had known Button’s Heating and Air Conditioning for the last 15 years. They had installed my Trane furnace and maintained it trouble free since. Consequently, when my central air conditioning unit needed to be replaced, I approached Button’s, along with a couple of other companies, with a request for a proposal. Out of the companies contacted, Button’s proposal met all my requests in terms of specifications, warranties and installation schedule. All my questions and concerns were promptly responded and dealt with in the most professional manner by Nigel and Brian. The installation crew, led by Mike, showed up on time and their demeanor and workmanship was exemplary. I am very satisfied with the completion of this project and I would recommend this company for any HVAC work.

I’m confident Nigel and Brian were happy to answer all of your inquiries and we are happy to hear that you felt that they were “promptly responded and dealt with in the most professional manner”. Mike, Mike, and Marcus take pride in their work. We are also happy that you acknowledge them by saying they “showed up on time and their demeanor and workmanship was exemplary”. In closing, a great big thank you again Gabe, for the perfect 10/10 score on the review. Team Button’s

    Air Conditioner

We found Buttons after searching Home Stars. We had a few other quotes but when we met Todd the salesman we knew right away we were going to use this company. Having read that the installation of your ac unit is one of the most important factors in ensuring excellent quality of product we were happy with Todd's discussion on the installation. We also specifically wanted a company that actually did the work rather than farming the job out to independent installers. They arrived in a freak early April snowstorm to do the install. Both installers (Mike and Matt I think) were professional friendly and did a great job leaving a spotless work site when completed. We also at Todd's suggestion changed over our old water heater and it was installed in a far better spot allowing us to actually access our furnace and not trip over, or knock into lines coming in and out of furnace and water heater. We are thrilled with service and follow up. We had one tiny issue and contacted Buttons. David arrived immediately to fix the issue and while he was waiting to make sure problem was fixed he even fixed our old humidifier attached to our furnace that we thought was long dead. Thanks Buttons , we will be sure to pass on your name.

Hello Fran, Thank you for the outstanding review. We really appreciate when satisfied customers such as you take the time to write reviews. After All, it is the absolute best referral when it comes from someone who actually dealt with us from the point of researching our company to the the install. Todd take a lot of pride in the level of customer service and advise he offers homeowners. He is a no pressure kind of guy. I'm not surprised that the crew showed up in a snow storm. There isn't much that can keep our guys from adhering to the installation schedule...AND leaving the work area spotless is just another check on the crew's list before leaving the house. Again, not surprised that David rushed out to fine-tune something..and fix something else unrelated at the time. Thank you again Fran...Team Button's

    Switch from Oil to Gas

A friend recommended Buttons to me. Nigel came out on a weekend to quote. He answered all my questions and concerns. He was educated and was able to advise me of an Enbridge rebate that was available to me... that a competing company did not know existed. The pricing was fair. The work was completed in one work day and inspected/approved by Enbridge the next.

    Answer from pro:

Hello Catherine, Thank you for the great review! Continuing education and keeping up with current rebates and incentives are steps we take to ensure we are offering all we can to the homeowner in order to pass savings onto them. We are pleased that Nigel was able to answer all of your questions and concerns and facilitate the Enbridge Home Energy Audit for you. Thank you again Catherine...Team Button's

    Furnace and Air

Just had the Button team of Justin, Adam, and Rick here to install a furnace and air unit. Showed up on time, very clean and super professional. These lads had a very tough job on a long weekend and they ate it. I am very happy. I even added a nest thermostat at the last minute and Nigel delivered right away and the guys put in and went over everything g with me. I'm pretty happy right now with my choice. I did my homework, and the small amount difference between Costco and others was worth the price. Don't waste time these guys are the real deal

    Answer from pro:

Hello Sean, Thank you so much for the awesome words of praise. We do everything we can to deliver what we promise...outstanding customer service is something that we strive for. Just, Adam, and Rich are a great install crew. Yes it was a bit of a tough job but the guys are always up to something that may challenge them...and they got it done. Thank you again for allowing Button's Heating and Air-Conditioning to earn your business. Team Button's

    New Furnace

Thanks to everyone at Buttons Heating Inc. Had a new furnace installed two days ago, the crew came in, removed the old unit installed the new one and left the area extremely tidy. Todd Button came over at 11pm on Friday evening to see if he could fix for us but unfortunately we needed a new furnace. He sat with us and explained our options from top to bottom. He didn't push the most expensive make/model, he recommended what he felt would be best for us. He left heaters for us to use while we went over all our options, once we decided he had his crew there within one day to do the installation. The crew was amazing, quick clean and efficient. You wouldn't even know they were there, left the place spotless. Top notch team at Buttons - would highly recommend to anyone!

    Answer from pro:

Hi Stacey, Thank you for the great review. It is no surprise that we had someone out at 11:00 in the evening. We do everything we can to look after our customers. Todd is always happy to offer a detailed, no pressure estimate and will always present what is best suited for the homeowner. Our crews are top-notch and we often hear that they leave the area cleaner than what it was when they arrived...they take great pride in their work. Thank you again from Button's Heating and Air-Conditioning.

    Disappointing experience!

I called this company for a diagnostic call to my 2-unit bungalow in Whitby. The temperature in the lower unit was about 7 to 8 degrees lower than the rest of the home. It felt like the hot air was not getting pushed down to the lower unit. The technician Mario (I believe) told me that he didn't know what the problem was but that I should buy a $6,000 Mitsubishi ductless heat pump to solve the problem. I asked if he could run any diagnostic tests to see why the heat was not getting pushed down to the lower unit and he said he would need to rip down my ceiling and most likely it would be inconclusive. Lovely I thought. Before making any major purchases I decided to bring in another HVAC guy. He quickly explained all the issues and why a ductless heat pump would not be an ideal solution for the space. Everything was so logical and made so much sense. I could quickly tell who knew what they were talking about and who didn't. Long story short, we upgraded the furnace motor, ran a few extra ducts straight from the furnace down by the baseboards (as the ducts should be low to the ground as hot air rises), and built in an industrial grade electric heater into the wall. This solution completely solved my problem and only cost me $1800. Im so happy I didn't go with the option that this company recommended. Sincerely, Michael

    Answer from pro:

We strive to do our best assessment and offer solutions to HVAC problems. Mario is an experienced and skilled technician that offered multiple solutions to the reported problems. This is really an unfair assessment of Button’s as there seems to be some confusion as to the complaints and what our recommendations were. The original call was for the basement apartment that was too cold sometimes and very hot at other times. The only way a basement can get to 75 degrees in the winter is if the thermostat is set higher than normal as the basement is always the coldest part of the house. Michael wanted to find a resolution to fix both problems. Mario had also recommended running more ductwork in the basement. This would fix the too cold problem but this wouldn't fix the problem with the basement being too hot as the tenant upstairs needs to be comfortable as well and can’t turn the ac on in the winter. Mario recommended installing a lock on the thermostat so the tenants couldn't raise the temp higher than normal as it seemed like that was why the basement was getting way too hot in the winter. Additionally, we did recommended installing a ductless heat pump so if the upstairs tenant did turn the heat up higher than normal the basement tenant could turn the ac on and make herself comfortable. We would never recommend an industrial electric heater in a 1200 square foot bungalow. It uses a lot of energy and is possibly not even legal in a residential setting. The biggest reason Mario didn't recommend more heaters in the basement was because the basement tenant's major complaint was it got too hot in the basement all the time. Therefore, adding heat would not have helped that. Sounds like you may have part of your problem somewhat solved with another HVAC company but I think you will continue to have issues and hear the tenant complaints.
